we have a 9 year old & 7 year old. we are planning on getting a 4 day hopper pass. we have been to Disney World before, but never went to tom sayer island in MK, is it worth going to? :sunny:

IMHO, if they know the story of Tom Sawyer and they would like to run around a bit, then yes. If they are tired, not interested in the story or just want to do the rides instead, then don't bother. It's not a must-see attraction, more like a break time for mom and dad or a place to let them burn off energy.

If you go on the first boat They can look for the paintbrushes that are hidden .If you find 1 you get fastpasses for the entire family for SplM or BTMRR .

two things, are the children boys or girls, and what time of year are you going? If boys they are going to love all the trails and the hidden tunnel under the fort. I had never been either although I had been to MK dozens of times. This past July we took our 2 year old ds and 10 year old dd. Our daughter enjoyed herself but I don't think it was close to being a favorite of hers. So I can't speak for girls if you have them, unless they are tomboys and then they'll love it. The heat was unbearable but it didn't really matter because if you were outdoors it was hot. It's a lot of walking but extremely interesting. There's a little playground, a lighthouse and the fort is too awesome. There are several caves you can explore. So I'd say try it out. Disney trips are all about finding new things and making great new memories. Go, explore, have fun....watch out for Indian Joe (I sure hope the name is right.)

I wouldn't do it again. Well, the kids liked it, but I was antsy the whole time because we could have been riding rides. You can run around at a park some other time. Hm, I sound like the worst mommy ever.

My 6-year old loves heading over to Tom Sawyer Island to explore. On our last trip in November he was lucky enough to find one of the paintbrushes mentioned before (almost 2 hours after the island opened!). He was absolutely thrilled to pieces. As he isn't a fan of rollercoasters or the drop at Splash, his certificate has become a momento from that trip.

My daughter loved it and she was 6 at the time. You have to watch because sometime the snack bar over there is not open. I am not sure if you could check the hours or if it is only open certain hours. That would have made it better if we could have sat and have a snack. It is true that it is just a place for them to run and have fun. It usually is not that crowded and would be a good area for a break. But if your kids are really into rides you might want to skip it.

My kids always like visiting TSI. We skip it if tight on time, though.
