Tom Brady sounds like a real nice guy...NOT

He doesn't want to talk about his private life so you equate that with he thinks football is more important.

That is quite the leap.

I was going to comment but see you are a newbie. If you think this is the worst thread of all time here on the DIS, you might want to stay away from the Community Board ;)

I don't see the big deal. I think he's used to talking football with the press, would rather talk football with the press than disclose personal, private information, and was trying to steer the conversation that way.

I don't know him from Adam. I've never watched a whole football game in my life (been to a couple, but more for socializing). I'm not defending him because I like him or like football, but I just don't see what he did as wrong. :confused3

I think the "worst thread of all time" was a joke. At least I hope it was.

and I'm no Tom Brady fan, but even I see nothing wrong with his comments.

Tom Brady Confirms Gisele Had a Baby Boy!

What can you expect from a man that left one pregnant girlfriend for another...

hmmm, not sure what the problem is?:confused3:confused3 he was joking. he was trying to do his job and get back to football talk. from what I've observed, pro athletes don't seem to be able to take much/any time off, even for births or deaths.

as for the leaving pregnant girlfriend, according to many reports, bridget didn't tell him she was pregnant until AFTER they broke up. it's not like he left her knowing she was pregnant or b/c she was pregnant. he actually seems to spend a lot of time with his son that he has with moynahan. they are photographed a lot on boston. com together.

Really doesn't look like he did. Just found a People article from end of Feb in '07. She was *just* announcing being 3 months along. The article states that they broke up at the end of '06. So it's quite possible that she didn't even yet know she was pregnant.

And your sentence makes it sound like he left a pg woman for another pg woman...obviously THAT didn't happen.

I'm not even a sports fan, and I understand why/how he would go *do his job* even after his baby is born. My husband had to leave after only 2 weeks at home with me to go do his job...let's equate this to being a tax accountant having a baby in late March...it's going to be VERY difficult for the accountant to take any significant time off at that point...and at this point for TB it's not an easy time to take off either.

And anyone who marries a bigtime sports player would know the, ha, score.

I found the most absurd thing was the following statement:

'In an interview with Vanity Fair, Bundchen said she felt the kid was "100 percent" hers.'

Ya think? Ah well, supermodels aren't known for their brains I guess.

I think she's talking about Tom's other, 2 year old son. That he feels like he's hers even though he isn't.

My son was due on February 2nd, and I was "requested" by my DH not to give birth during the Superbowl (Jan 31 that year). And geez, he wasn't playing in it. And it wasn't even OUR team. AND he could have watched while I was in labor, but I guess I might've been distracting. Anyway, being the good wife, I held out until Feb 4. :thumbsup2

Of course Tom Brady's going back to the game Sunday. :confused3 Of course he's going to talk about FOOTBALL and not his personal life. :confused3 Sheesh, he had already been asked "a slew of questions about the birth"...what's he supposed to do, get into how long she pushed?

I had to go on fertility drugs to get pregnant, and my DH was still aghast when I ended up due during hunting season! His concession was to only hunt in state since that would give him time to get home before the birth. (And he didn't leave me, especially since I was on bedrest, I promise...)

Football's his job, I would expect him to be there to play on Sunday.

how is this one of the worst threads of all time. No offence but you kinda only joined in july you have not been on long enough to know that.

I also disagree with the op
As others have said it was a joke.
I think he is a but for ditching his other kid but he didn't do anything wrong in the article.

Perhaps he just wanted to keep his private life private, which is why he said that he preferred to talk about football? :confused3

I didn't see anything wrong with that article.

Tom Brady never talks about his personal life...when asked questions about it he always looks very uncomfortable...he didn't discuss his break up with Bridget Moynihan, the birth of his son Jack and now his new son...when he does interviews, whether after practice, games, radio or TV it's all strictly football...with all the crap going on with celebrity's nowadays, him not wanting his personal life splattered all over the world is really not hard to understand.

Tom and Bridget had broken up a while prior to her discovering she was pregnant.

The article above was from an interview at football practice today. That is why he wanted to talk football.

My DH had to go to Brazil 8 days after our daughter was born. Left me for a week with a newborn and 11 month old! But since his job pays the bills, I didn't say a word! Lots of dads have to go back to work right away.

It just kinda goes to show what is important to him. A birth of a son OR football?

Sad indeed.

I didn't get that at all. Going to work several days after the birth of your child doesn't make you a jerk, and neither does not wanting to talk about your private life to reporters.

Well football is kind of his job. Do fathers with regular jobs take a day off two or three days after the babies' birth? I dunno, maybe they do. It seems to me that he is just going to his regular, everyday job. It doesn't mean he doesn't love or appreciate the baby.

He is a professional football player, not a professional publicist. He didn't have to talk about his baby at all. I see nothing wrong with playing football on Sunday...almost a week after the birth of his baby. That is his JOB.

And I don't get the hate for this guy about him "leaving" Bridget. They were separated. Should they be together just because she is pregnant? That wouldn't make the relationship last. He appears to be a caring father who was there for the birth of his first child and has a wife who loves his little boy. Don't see any issue with that at all.

I wish his family nothing but the best.

She was referring to Tom's 2 year old, John, and that she loves him like he is her own. For what it's worth, I've always found Gisele to come across as smart and educated.
