I mean, while Brady is GOAT, being an all pro in one's 40s is not without precedent in football. While Rodgers looks like he's also on the way there, Warren Moon set the path during my youth...and prior to him, George Blanda showed you could be a great QB and K for years and transition to kicker only in your late 30s/early 40s and play another decade til leaving at 48.

I really don't think that's it. He loves playing and he's freakishly competitive. It's what's always driven him. He probably likes seeing the negative press more because it drives him to prove it wrong.

The timing was mostly due to the start of free agency. The Bucs needed to know one way or the other in case they needed to sign a new QB.

Blanda was forced to transition to kicker only pretty young, which is why he "retired", but then went to the AFL. He started off in an era where there were no dedicated kickers. Pat Summerall was a kicker/defensive lineman.

But these days there are specialists because special teams can cost a game easily. Dedicated long snappers are in very high demand.

There's talk that he's not really returning to the Bucs, but that he has to declare his intention to return early enough to set everything in motion where he might be able to work a trade to a preferred team.

I’m not wrong because I wasn’t just talking about this announcement. I’m talking about it all, including the will he/won’t he retirement announcement.

Our (dh and I) least favorite NFL player. Just look how he acted when our Eagles won the Superbowl. I cannot stand the guy. I really was hoping he was gone for good.
