which one do i need to get - we normally take 528 to I-4 to and from orlando airport. We go quite often, so i thought it would be convenient. we never have any change/coins after getting off the plane, and I miss my EZpass (that is what it is called up north)

Last I heard, Sunpass offers a 25 cent discount to all passholders at certain toll booths. E-Pass offers some overall discounts if you use it enough times, I think at least 25 usages a month.

Otherwise both are accepted on all toll roads that accept either. Both systems charge $25. for the transponder or "pass" itself.

Going from Orlando Airport to Disney you might not even need to bother. If you leave the north airport exit and go left at the first light (about a mile and a half to the next 528 entrance) you only pass through one toll booth and it does not require exact change.

(Returning to the airport, get off 528 at its exit 9 Tradeport, cross under, get into middle lane and take that short side road back to the airport too.)

I was wondering the same thing, however, according to the EZ Pass website the furthest south we can use it is Virginia. Bummer for us!

I got the Florida SunPass a couple years ago and LOVE it. It's very easy to use. With open road tolls, you don't have to stop at all in some cases.

It works well!

Sunpass, E-PASS and O-Pass are valid at ALL locations that display signs for any of the three Florida-based systems. Sunpass is the statewide system while E-PASS lanes are only found in Orange County and O-Pass lanes only in Osceola County. But again, they are all interchangable with each other no matter what the sign says at the toll plaza. Since they are basically the same, it doesn't matter which one you have but you do need to buy it ahead of arriving here because they take 24 hours to activate. You can order a Sunpass at www.sunpass.com or an E-PASS from www.expresswayauthority.com

As far as saving money, most toll plazas marked with the Sunpass logo have an on-the-spot discount for someone using any of the three transponder brands. At most locations the discount is 25-cents but on a long journey from Orlando to south Florida (for instance) the savings can exceed $3.00. You won't save any money on-the-spot at lanes marked E-PASS.

EZ-Pass from the northeast USA is a completely different system and does not work on any Florida toll roads or toll bridges. The three Florida-based systems also won't work in the northeast USA.
