Was going to use Budget's e-Toll but then I read the fine print ... If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. That is ridiculous that a person will be charged a convenience fee EACH day even when not used. I believe I'm looking around at $5 in tolls when travelling? I assume there are manned booths where I can pay in cash but how many toll booths am I looking at ... or is it better to purchase a SunPass Mini transponder or Portable transponder? Thanks ...

I'd agree with that basic amount.

There are manned booths to pay in cash, maybe 3 or 4 from the port to WDW?

We get a roll of quarters and some ones and we just stop at the booths. You can even get change (and a receipt) from all or nearly all of them. So easy.

I don't go there often enough to buy my own transponder, and I have NEVER had an experience so long at a tollbooth that made me want to pay the rental car company to use their transponder.

Just make sure you know to follow the exits to the tollbooths and you'll be fine.

note that different rental companies handle this differently

for example National, Enterprise and Alamo only charge the fee on days you actually ENCOUNTER a toll . . .

toll amount varies by which way you go ...

I drive this route regularly ... you would be wise to have exact change. I have seen the attended change lane backed up with over 20 cars/trucks .... it isn't THAT long of a wait in reality, but can seem an eternity as you watch others fly by without slowing .... the toll plaza on 528 just east of the airport/417 is where I routinely see a queue.

Great map - thanks ... have a Ziploc of all the US change accumulated over our last few trips so will make sure I bring it along ...
