We are heading over in June for a cruise on the Dream. Can anyone tell what the tolls are from Boardwalk to Port Canaveral? I assume it will take any combination of coins?

I have no clue but I picked up a sun pass for when I'm on trips in Florida. Easier then paying cash

I have an iPass for when I venture down to Illinois. It also came in handy when we took a trip in Boston too

No need to carry cash and in most cases a cheaper toll rate too

Just remember to take your pass out of the car when your done. Last year I forgot till I passed the security line and National was nice enough to mail it back to me

The Sun Pass is $4.99, does that cover the tolls while I am there or is that just the cost of the transponder and then I will get a bill for any tolls gone through?

depends on which route you take

I prefer 417

all the tolls shown here accept cash (stay RIGHT for cash lanes), exact change is faster that change/receipt lanes)

The $4.99 sunpass is a 'use once' version which glues to the windshield. I recommend you get the $20 version which can be moved from vehicle to vehicle . . .

For those cartographically challenged, @Capt_BJ's map above shows it would cost $4 if you take the I-4 to 528 route as compared to $5 for the 417 to 528 route. At least that's true if when coming from BW you follow Buena Vista Drive to I-4 or 536 to 417 so that you don't hit the Celebration toll.

Also agree that the $20 version of the sunpass is the way to go since it can be easily transferred from one vehicle to another, including rental cars.

I know with my i-Pass the transponder is a refundable fee should I no longer need it and turn it in. I don't recall if the $20.00 Surpass was/is refundable if I no longer need it, but for all the times I seem to be traveling down to Florida lately it's well worth it if the $20 isn't refundable.

You do load your sun pass account online with I believe a minimum of $10 and you can set a limit so when your account goes below a certain amount a credit card is billed an additional $10 - $20 is put on the account. That way no cash is ever needed for the toll system, and should you decide you never need a surpass account you can have the remaining balance in your account sent back to you.

I would suggest 417 all the way to 528 due to a lot of construction on 528 in several areas.
Taking 417 would bypass that construction and is worth the extra money in my opinion.

I think I will just use cash. The sunpass is nice but for a once in 5-10 years, it isn't worth the hassle. In the last 20 years of going to Florida, this will be the 2nd time we have had to use toll roads. I will just put a roll of quarters in the car and be all set. Thanks to all for the replys.
