How much do the tolls around WDW cost? Do you have to have exact change? Is there a better lane to be in?

Some of the off-ramps may require exact change, but along the main toll roads there are always a number of lanes that can provide change. The tolls vary, but the main plaza's usually run about $1.25 (iirc).

Typically the only time we encounter a toll road is when we're going to/from the airport.

There are lots of toll roads in Central Florida. Most toll booths are manned, and can provide change. But some are automated and require exact change (quarters). For example, coming in from the airport on the 417 greenway you will encounter two manned toll booths where you pay one dollar at each booth. When you exit at Osceola Pkwy to get to WDW there is an unmanned booth where you pay an additional quarter.

Florida does have an electronic pass system (I think it's called E-Pass), and at least one lane will be reserved for those vehicles. You have to watch the signs as you approach and stay out of the E-Pass lanes. BTW if you have one of those electronic systems on your car from another state, it will NOT work here in Florida. E-Pass is not compatible with systems used in other states.

If you use the airport north exit (Semoran) take a left at the first light (Frontage), curve around to left, and you will see a toll booth you are skipping. Then left at next light and quickly left at another light without going under anything you are on 528 Bee Line headed west. One more toll booth for fifty cents, end of Bee Line take I-4 west (southwest). Takes you right to Disney World including Osceola Parkway, no more tolls.

Returning to airport I-4 east to 528 Bee Line east, get off at exit 9 (Tradesport), turn left and cross under using middle lane. Fill up rental car and/or right at second light (McCoy becomes Frontage where you see the toll booth you are not going through). About a mile later right at light (Semoran) to enter airport from north. Total toll: 50 cents @ 11/01.

Going up trunk line (World Drive) to Magic Kingdom resorts such as Contemporary or Wilderness you must pass through the MK/TTC toll booth. Use third lane from right, tell attendant where you are going. Drive on without paying and bear right at large fork.
