Has there been a podcast done on Tokyo Disney? We're heading there in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking for any and all info I can get on it.

I've already read most of the posts over on the Tokyo board :goodvibes

I've been there the past two Thanksgivings. Do you have any specific questions? Would you like to see pictures? What are your dates of travel?

I don't believe so. I haven't heard one.

There is an old podcast, Meandering Mouse (sp?), who recorded several Japan parks podcasts with video. He hasn't released any new shows for a couple of years. His old ones are pretty timeless. If you search in itunes, you'll find them.

Enjoy Japan! Please do a trip report!

No, they haven't done anything about the Asian parks.

Have a great time at the TDR! It's an amazing place. :goodvibes

i assume you already have all your hotel reservations and the like, so too late for me to make recommendations in that area :)

Hopefully, you'll be there after July 9th, when their Toy Story Midway Mania opens at DisneySea. Also, be mindful of the different way their parkhopper tickets work!

We'll be there July 15th to July 29th, I think I just want more reasurance  I've got a cold at the moment, so my brain is all fuzzy and not up to trying to understand the google translation on any Japanese web sites

Thanks, I don't use Itunes, but I'll have a look to see if I can find the feed anywhere else :thumbsup2

I've already started a PTR :goodvibes http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2938962

Thanks, I can't wait!

There was an amazingly detailed trip report by Lurkyloo a while back with tons of pictures:

Man, you beat me to it!

This is a great report. I second checking it out. Enjoy your trip!

Already read through the whole thing

Yeah we're staying at the Century Southern Tower in Shinjuku for the first part, and making the half hour trip into Disney of a morning on the days we want to go, and then we're staying at the Hotel Granvia in Kyoto for the 2nd part :goodvibes

We will be, I'm so worried about crowds, but I'll just have to deal with it as it comes

I hate the way their park hoppers work :headache: they're essentially not park hoppers at all for the 1st two days, and the consecutive day thing is just silly! :lmao:

Tokyo Disney has always been crowded when I've gone. I made sure to build in breaks in my day. If you're staying in Shinjuku, you'll have to be creative about that. They have a Cirque du Soleil show at Ikspiari, which is a nice way to get off your feet and cool off. I lived on snacks, because everything is so expensive. My favorites were the black-pepper spiced pork rib, the sea salt ice-cream, the Duffy smile (mochi with chocolate pudding inside - goes great with the hot Royal milk tea that they sell at the same kiosk), and the pork and rice roll, which was essentially bacon-wrapped sushi rice and the best thing I ate there!! The popcorn flavors are amazing (black pepper is my favorite). If you buy the bucket, you get refills at a reduced price at any of the many popcorn stands.

Thanks, I think the cirque du soleil has shut, but I really want to see ikspiari so I'm happy to take breaks there if it's going to be quieter.

I've heard prices in Japan are pretty similar to prices here, so using that logic then I'm guessing the prices at Disney will be similar to prices at our theme parks :confused3 either way I'm not really planning on eating any where specific, so we'll see what we stumble across.

I'm sorry the Cirque du Soleil show has closed. I wish I'd gone to see it again last year! There are two wonderful French cafes in Ikspiari - Angelina's and Pierre Herme. I highly recommend the macaron at Pierre Herme and the Angelina's is famous for the hot chocolate and the chestnut Mont Blanc. I had a wonderful dinner at the sukiyaki restaurant there, too. On the other side of the Maihama train station (you have to cross over to the little neighborhood on the other side) there's a 7-Eleven. There's also a convenience store in the Hilton and at Maihama Station.

The prices seemed to be higher when I was there, but maybe the exchange rate is friendlier now. I was able to afford a lot more in 2010 than I was in 2011. The popcorn bucket was almost $30, but the refills were only about $10. Food wise, the single pork rib was about $6 and the bacon and rice roll was about $5.

If you're a fan of the Japan pavilion in Epcot, you can go to the original Mitsukoshi in Nihombashi. The Ginza shop is nice, too. The food halls are amazing! For non-Disney days, I can recommend Asakusa (beautiful temple and lovely little shops) and the daibutsu at Kamakura is wonderful!
