Okay, I apologize if there is another thread about this already...

I caught about half of this show last night while flipping channels and OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These people are crazy! The moms are obviously in it for themselves, the kids look like robot hookers (on stage, off stage they are all pretty cute!), and that one dad comes across as gay, which is odd only because he is married (to a woman). (Note: I am not homophobic in the least, nor do I think he is gay only because he is into pageants, it is EVERYTHING about him, and he and his wife are a VERY odd couple.) Anyway, I saw the part where his daughter got first runner-up in something (not sure what) and he said, "She won nothing!" And was then explaining to his 2 year old (and she is not even a precocious 2 year old, trust me, I've had them both ways and she is a very "babyish" 2 year old, like 2 of mine were) that it's okay, um hello crazy man, your daughter doesn't understand or CARE that she didn't take first place, she got a huge trophy, how is that not good enough for you? Sorry he just really creeped me out (again, NOT because I honestly thought he was gay at first, I thought he was the wife's gay brother, seriously! but because he is such a crazy pageant dad). I mean he was trying to teach routines and stuff to a baby, certainly she is still in diapers??? And he said she did a back flip, WHAT??? I didn't see the whole show, did she really??? Anyone else catch all of this? And was as horrified as I was?:confused3

It was TOTALLY creepy....especially the "Pageant Dad". Also the Mom with the gray hair and 6 year old daughter creeped me out too.....for some reason it seems that she took the whole pageant experience for herself WAY WAY too seriously.

That being said, it was sort of fascinating as well.

Dd10 and I watched it. I also thought the Dad was gay, I know, stereo-typing! It is a strange family mix. And they said the Mom had given birth to three kids and in the end in the car you saw three kids in car seats, but throughout the show you only saw the little one and their son??? She didn't do a back flip! Dad was right there and basically pushing her over!

The grey-haired Mom was creepy. :crazy2: I liked Megan, the girl who won it all. Hopefully she will keep her head on straight. But you would think they would know where they were going for such an important thing and not get lost!!

Yeah, I have to admit that from what I saw, Megan was a cool kid. She wanted to go to a snake farm with her winnings!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: But she looked super creepy with all the makeup on. Ugh. Without it she was a very cute and normal-seeming kid.

I thought that dad was just over the top. I didn't have too much of a problem with the grey haired mom. She seemed confident and seemed like the only normal parent featured. megan's mom was a bit over the top. i thought it was cute how megan wanted to visit the snake farm. Sadly, the snake farm she wanted to visit had a really bad fire a few months back. Animals were killed, lots of damage. They're still on the fence as to whether they'll re open or not.

The dad seemed....i'll keep my mouth shut. I though the Jones girl was the most level headed. She seemed involved and very ambitious and competitive. I love this show. I think pageants are OK. I think for the most part they are healthy, as long as the child wants to do it.

I thought the fact that Megan's family got lost was awesome. Maybe it means its a big deal but not THAT big of a deal. She did seem very normal and kind of like this is just something that she does to get some cash.

The only family that really creeped me out was Ava's and the weird Dad. I can't believe he was crying. Seriously, the kid was a typical 2 year old and she did a supported backhand spring. Really its not a big deal, my 2 year olds could do that too while they were in gymnastics classes. He basically flips her legs and she keeps them straight.

I thought the grey haired Mom's DD was very pretty and natural looking. And I thought it was nice that these kids got to cheer on their parents. It wasactually was kind of sweet.

Oh and the 2 year olds in the bathing suit competion and the other younger kids was just simply WRONG! They were shaking their bottoms and strutting around...ICK!

I had it on for about 5 minutes. I was so disturbed I turned it off! Most reality shows are like a train wreck for me - I hate them but can't stop watching - not this one....I'd watch Rock of Love Bus before this! At least on there the bimbos are adults & can make their own decisions.

That bad huh? I can't watch more than 5 minutes of Rock of Love without being nauseous.

I have it taped and I'm going to try and watch it later....we'll see.

I am watching this right now on DVR so I haven't read much of the other comments so I won't get any spoilers. HOLY COW!

Does that one woman realize that her husband is not straight??? Seems like a wonderful guy, but so should not be in a relationship with a woman!

Why would you do that stuff to your child? And is there no other talent in the world of pagents besides baton?

And thank the lord for small miracles that they only want ONE PIECE swim suits. :rolleyes2 Wouldn't want these kids looking "sexy" with their fake tans, fake fingernails, hairpieces and pounds of makeup!

Not sure that I will make it through the season! I think I will let my kids watch it so they can see how horrible their life could be!

Oh yeah! Good idea - then I can use that as a threat - "Kids knock it off right now or I'm signing you up for a pageant!

That dad is as heterosexual as Richard Simmons......And just that subtle, especially in that PINK shirt. :rotfl2: I've got nothing against a man in a pink shirt, but when he's a pale imitation of Liberace, he might want to stay away from flamingo pink if he wants to even slightly give the impression he's straight. DH pronounced the wife a "beard" in about 2 seconds, but sadly, I don't think she REALIZES she is. I wonder if he makes a lot of money and THAT makes her turn a blind eye? Or if the pickings in Santa Rosa were just that slim? :lmao: When the wife put the tiara on Dad's head as he was sewing the pageant dress, there was a twinkle of ecstasy in his eye. :scared:

The whole episode was a freak show, but it's just like driving past a car wreck......Sometimes you look even though you know better. :crazy2: I LMAO when Dad wailed about, "How could she lose the talent segment when she did a backflip? I mean, a 2 y.o. doing a BACKFLIP?" For crying out loud, the kid didn't do a thing....Dad flipped her over. My DH did that to DD all the time. Does that mean DD qualifies for the Olympic team? :rotfl: How delusional are these people? :sad2:

my dd15 and I watched this last night. She pointed out how interesting fake nails, fake eyelashes, fake hair etc.. is all OK but not a fake tan??? HUH??

I just watched it with my girls and uh yeah....no way is dad straight!

I think the grey haired mom needs to dye her hair and she would look way younger. I think that both Meaghan and Rebecca looked like pretty normal and sweet kids. I liked how Rebecca would raise her hand when they announced her name, it was cute.

Ava's family was way over the top and that is the little girl that I would be concerned about.

My girls are watching this now. So I have to watch again. To the gray haired mom-- Spandex should NEVER be worn by someone her age and also NEVER by an adult that wears over a size 2 no matter what the age! And adding in the "nude" part in the middle so you could see the muffin top was even a worse idea!

And yeah, the fact that the woman in charge said she didn't like the fake tan cause they should just show what God gave them-- like fake eyelashes, fake nails, fake hair etc..

I did think it was funny the winner just wanted to go to a snake farm!

I watched this on my DVR earlier today. We live in Cleveland and had the day off work due to the crazy weather. My husband walked in the room and watched it for a few minutes looking completely appalled and dumbstruck at the families. When he looked over to me I told him that I can't wait to put our little girl (who is due this Tuesday!!!!) in a pageant. I exclaimed...." look how wonderful this all looks, we are going to sign her up right away!!" It only took him a moment to realize I was kidding but the look of horror on his face was priceless.

I finally watched this on the DVR last night. I am hooked. It's like a train wreck.

The gray haired mom said she felt skinny in that sparkly outfit. Really? She might have FELT skinny but she sure didn't look it :lmao:. And that bathing suit? :scared:. Her daughter was beautiful though.

I agreed with what someone said about Megan. She was beautiful made up (but a bit overdone). When she was natural she was just a normal cute kid. She did seem to have her head on straight though. Her Mom was over the top. I loved how they showed the sign in the gym about not yelling at your kids when they were being coached and of course she ignored it.

And Ava. I didn't think she was THAT cute. I agree with everyone else about the Dad - he was so so so homosexual. If Ava didn't look so much like him I would think that she wasn't really his.

I just wonder about the finances of all these people. Pageants are very expensive. The costumes, training, beauty stuff like hair and makeup, and the Travel. Even if they win everything it surely doesnt make a dent in the expense.

I actually thought Megan should have been disqualified because she was so late. Did you notice that when she went on stage for the talent part of the competition there was no one else in the room. Everyone had left - so she must have been more than just a little late.

Denae

Did anyone else notice when Megan's mother said that she hopes she (the mom) wins, but if she doesn't than she'd be happy if her daughter wins? I initially thought that the mother/daughter thing was just a "fun" way to support their daughters, but it seems like the mothers were actually serious about beating out the kids! :earseek:
