Where can I put my two and a half year old in a studio to fall asleep if we are in there with him? He has never fallen asleep if someone is in the room with him. Should I sit outside the door and wait? Or do we just count on him passing out at the end of each day and this won't be a problem? Or do I burn points for a 1br? Any suggestions?

YOu could put him by the bathroom as the sink is outside and there should be enough room between the bathroom door and the closet door to fit the pack and play but you will most likely have to move him at some point durning the night :)
If you get a 1 bedroom you will never want to stay in a studio again
I do not think the word studio comes out of our mouth any more
If it is just two it is fine But with three or four.....

Geez if that isn't the truth - we started doing studios when we first bought points, got a 1 br and haven't looked back since.:rotfl: We've done 2 add ons to keep up w/ our 1 and 2 bdrm habits.

But - we have put a pack 'n play near the door in a studio - b/c you can make it fairly dark there, and watch tv really, really quietly. (a 1 bdrm is SO nice though - you don't have to tiptoe around, you put them to bed, have a drink out on the balcony - or whatever!)

I wouldn't count on him automatically falling asleep. Riding in the stroller all day isn't nearly as draining as all of the walking that adults do.

My only stay in a studio with kids was one trip with my son when he was about 4. He still napped almost daily (we skipped a couple times on the trip but he needed the nap every so often) and it was always a battle to get him to sleep. Usually took about an hour. Funny how kids seem to hit their second wind just as the adults are ready for their own nap.

I'm a big advocate of One Bedroom and larger villas, so that's clearly the way I would go. But they aren't my points to spent. ;)

About the only thing I can think is to let him fall asleep in the room while you two sit on the little balcony.

A studio is essentially a hotel room..maybe a step up because of the kitchenette, but it has the same space constraints as a hotel room.

I'd probably do the 1 bedroom, but then I'm not a studio type person. I figure we didnt' buy DVC to stay in a hotel room, so I like the amenities of the 1 bedroom. You will be MUCH more comfortable doing that as well. Then your little one can fall asleep in the Pac N Play in the master while you guys hang out in the kitchen/living room. OR...You could put the Pac N Play in the laundry room (at OKW) and he will have his own little private bedroom.

We have done this the past 3 trips. What we do is put the play pen in the bathroom or sink area and then one of us would take a nap with him and the other would go to the pool or bum around. It has always worked great...I wouldn't want a week of no-nap terror!!

In non-DVC, like POR, we put him by the sink and then close the big dark curtain so he can sleep.

Good luck!

Before we did DVC and had the 1BR one of us would take our older DS to the pool and the other one would sit on the balcony/patio while little DD slept in the room. This was always a touchy time though, because if she didn't nap, we were in for a very cranky evening. Now that we have had the option of a whole separate BR, I don't think we would ever go with a studio. (And DD doesn't even nap anymore, it's just so nice to have the space.)

I would go with the one bedroom if you can. My dh and I had a studio booked for 7/6 thru 7/12 and decided a month before to bring our two year old grandson with us. I called MS and changed the ressie to a one bedroom and I'm very glad that I did. He took his naps and went to sleep at night with us not having to worry about making noise or watching TV. The washer and dryer were great too.
