Has anyone tried one of those hip carriers? We will be going in September, our son will be 15 months old and he is so uncomfortable in the baby carrier we already had. I think I have previously seen not so good reviews for the Playtex hip hammock. Has anyone tried the HipPanda? Looks OK, but does it work and is it comfy?
Thanks for any input you can provide!
Have a very Disney :smickey: day!

We have a Hip Hammock that we used on our last WDW trip for our youngest(19mos at time) that worked well for us. My only thing that I would say anything bad aobut it is that that shoulder gets more tired with it on. Easy to put on and off, did its job whether in line at park or at grocery.

I wear my 20 month old daughter on my hip in our kangarookorner adjustable fleece pouch. Very comfy!

I use a sling that you can use for hip carries you can look at them at
http://www.goo-ga.com/home It is very comfy.
Also you can look at this site thebabywearer.com you can read up on all sorts of carriers..go to the forum and look around..its a great site. I also use a Mei Tei that you can use up to 35pounds

We had one that we used for one walk around POR when DS was 9 mos - we didn't like it at all. I was much happier with my Hotsling and DH preferred the home-sewn mei tais I made (directions on sleepingbaby.net).

Hi carriers are awful compaired to what is out there to try out, a Mei Tia is my fav check out thebabywearer.com i second that!!!

I second thebabywearer.com . We have used a Sutemi.

seriously

The ergo baby carrier!!!!!

http://www.parentnaturally.com/catalog.php?category=6

I carry my 30lb 3 year old in it like he weighs NOTHING!

I will be at WDW the week of September 6-16. I will have a black cranberry carrier and will let anyone who asks try it out*!

seriously it is the only carrier that really honestly lets a parent carry a kid with the weight totally distributed on the adults hips and NOT the shoulders

*provided my kid isnt asleep in it.

Another vote for Ergo! I love, love, love it! DS1 is 35 lbs and it is so comfortable to wear. DS2 is 27 lbs and loves it also. With the ergo, you can wear them on your hip, back or chest. And amazingly, dh (who swore he would never wear a child) loved it too!

I used the Maya Wrap with my DS until he was about two and stopped letting me carry him. I wore that child everywhere. When he'd get down, I kept the attractive deep-purple sling around me, and I think people thought it was a fashion statement. They have a new version with a padded shoulder. I loved ours! Try mayawrap and then a period and then that COMmon ending.

In May 2005, I was 6 months pregnant and had our 15 month old. I bought a premaxx baby sling. I LOVED that sling. It was soooooo much easier to use than the traditional loop swing. I had our toddler on my hip quite frequently with it and then used it when DS#3 was born as a traditional sling. I switched back to the frontpack for awhile once DS could sit up, but I'm moving back to the sling again now that he is older.

We use a Quinny Curbb and I must say it's not very comfortable so avoid that if you can!

They look good, but my DD always seems to flop sideways and it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulder and back even when in the correct position!

I use a Rockin' Baby ring sling and sometimes a Rockin' Baby Pouch for hip carries. I also love my hotsling.

I live by thebabywearer site too!

Well, we have the Playtex one and used it last month at WDW. We had no problems with it. Noah even fell asleep in it a few times (in the August heat!).

We also have the Hip Hammock and it works well for us. The only time we use it is for the plane and Disney trips. We don't ever use it at home. In line for security, boarding the plane and lines at Disney World. It does dig into my shoulder if i wear it for too long but can easily be readjusted and I am fine.

We find it to be well worth the money !!
