I need some ideas on how to decorate my toddler's room. He is 2.5 years old. We are moving into a new house at the end of the month and I want to do something to his room since I'll be doing up a nice nursery for the new baby, but I don't know what. This will be our 4th move since he was born and it's our first house so we aren't going to be leaving for a while!!

His nursery was monkeys but since we moved so much, it was pretty basic. His room has hardwood floors but I am going to get a carpet remenate that will cover 90% of the floor in a neutral color. I need to paint the walls, right now they are either yellow and blue (1/2 the walls one color the other half the other with the opposite color on the molding???? :confused3) or mint gree. Depends on which room we decide is his!

He's too young to help me pick a theme and I don't want a theme that he will out grow in a year. We would love to do Red Sox or Patriots but he's just a little young for a preference and for some reason I feel strongly about NOT forcing it on him.

He LOVES WDW and some of the movies. He likes Cars, Nemo and Monsters the best. He LOVES Curious George. He likes Thomas the Train but he's not obsessed with it. He LOVES cars in general ... he really likes to watch Nascar (which DH and I don't watch AT ALL!)

I was thinking of picking a fairly neutral light blue color that will go with eventually be a hue of the Red Sox/Patriots Navy but maybe doing a collection of pictures from all his favorite movies right now.

Any other ideas anyone has on a 2.5 year old boy room!!

Oh his furniture is Maple colored.

I have a 10 year old son now. I suggest sticking with the neutral colors and then decorating with pictures and accessories. Their tastes change so quickly! We went with an ocean theme. There were cute fish when he was little. Now we have some photographs blown up of beach scenes on canvas and he has surfboards. It is a "theme" but easy to change as he grows.

I found some good ideas by looking at PBchild and PBteen to see how things would change.

I hope you don't mind a Yankees fan chiming in here. ;)

My sister has two little boys (5 and 2), and she went with a baseball theme. Of course there is the Yankee stuff, but it is more along the lines of a Cooperstown feel. She stuck with neutral colors--burgundy, navy blue, and cream. She framed some Norman Rockwell baseball themed pictures as well as some simple black and white photos she got from a book. (Target has had some really cute ones of boys playing a game or standing on the field). I love their room, and if I had a boy, I would totally go that route.

I guess I am a little biased in my opinion because I love the old school baseball look, but I think if you were to go with a more neutral palatte (the flooring and furniture sound perfect), you could just accessorize with the Red Sox and Patriot things (keep the bedding neutral as well) and change the items as your son grows.

Here are some fun pictures (sure there's something similar for football): http://www.fulcrumgallery.com/Produ...tagebaseball&gclid=CI6Bg9LVq50CFQ0aawod9Cm3iw

Could agree more - what is cute today will not be considered cute by him in a few years! I just did ds6's room - blue walls, navy blue valance and storage unit, khaki sheets with a blue and khaki duvet. You can do age-appropriate artwork.

Keep it simple. I can't tell you how many room changes I have done over the years with 3 kids. For my son, we did a tan wall and then bought a bedding set in a sports theme. We did not do any kind of border or wallpaper (pain to take down), but did hang some pics on the wall.

My son (1 year) has an explorer room that I think will grow with him. It has cool animals that I got from Home Goods... a cool old looking trunk on the floor to hold toys.... and old maps on the walls

maybe your son would enjoy watching this dvd I found in you tube a week ago.. it's entertaining and it's cute to see cuddly puppies and kittens playing with each other.. :)

it's not a movie video but rather an entertainment tool that serves as a screensaver..

just search for "puppies and kittens dvd" in you tube..popcorn::
