Hey everyone,

Today at the AK, the Expedition Everest had a bit of a malfunction and stopped. In case you were wondering what it looked like at the top... here's a shot above and the people behind us. We waited standby for almost exactly one hour, hopped on, shot to the top of the mountain and... stopped. Hah. Everyone remained really calm, no trouble, even the kids were well behaved.

In case you're wondering.. 14 stories of stairs you descend inside the mountain to get to the floor, then a little walk around to the loading platform.

(Btw... the crowd calendars saying 5/10 today? Pffffttt.. it was definitely 8. Everything was an hour+ all day at AK and HS. Checked times at Epcot and MK and they seemed worse.)

Oh my goodness! Glad everyone was okay. I couldn't imagine having to walk down that many flights of stairs.

Really wasn't bad at all. We shot up to the hold part.. and it just never let go! Hah!

Thankful we had a pretty active group, no disabilities or anything on board. That would've been much worse.

How long did you all have to stay seated before someone came to get you? What an experience. Glad everyone is safe and sound.

My friend who works Everest texted me about this today. Sorry you had to walk down all those stairs

do they somehow lock the cars in place while they unload the passengers? I would be so afraid it would release as I am climbing out

Oh my! What time did this happen? We rode it around 10:30....so glad we got off the ride before it broke down!

Note to self - use the washroom before any rollercoaster type rides!

Eek!! Sorry you were stuck! We are here too and yesterday was a mob scene at DHS. It's just DH and I so we really didn't mind, but we literally used our ToT FP and got a snack/drink at Tube-In Lounge and left for the World Showcase. I should preface by saying we weren't really concerned about rising much and we did everything "incorrectly" in that we arrived at 2 PM on a day with evening EMH. We were still a bit surprised it was so crowded. The WS wasn't bad.

It held us at the top initially for about 5 mins with the announcement that we'd be starting soon. Then they gave the "your ride will begin immediately"... and it didn't. They we're quick to say they'd be coming.

They had to climb the 14 stories to come get us, so it did take about ~15-20 minutes from halt.

Yeah, everything was locked in place, the car is held by the braking system there anyway. (If you've never watched anything on roller coaster tech, you should. It's amazing how it's all controlled) - They released the bars one car at a time, unloaded one person at a time. They were very organized and prepared for it.

Right around noon. We checked times around 5pm and it still wasn't back up.

We're very much the same. We got to AK around 11 to find it surprisingly packed. After we rode the big 3 and ate lunch, we hopped to DHS where we had FPs. Rode everything except TSMM and even stopped and watched Indiana Jones.
The time to hit the rides at DHS is during Fantasmic. :thumbsup2

Was once stuck on space mountain for 20 minutes. Was on the lift hill half way up. No big deal to wait expect no head rest so after holding your head up for a set amount of time it got a little uncomfortable. But the real cool part was they turned all the lights on inside and they were able to get the ride up and running we rode with all the lights on and was cool to be able to see everything you don't generally get to see.

If ever the lights come in in Space Mountain, take off for the TTA PeopleMover! When you go by SM you get a much better, lower speed view of the giant contraption that is SM. Definitely cool to see.

We were treated to this on our first ride on the PeopleMover! At that time, we had no idea that Space Mountain was down, so it was a nice surprise. We rode again later in the day and got to experience it in the dark as well.

Yikes! I have heard of people getting stuck here before. The incline your facing as you get out has to be kinda tough. How did you keep balance?

14 Stories! OMG. They need to put in an elevator...

It'd probably stop working after 6 months and they'd put a strobe light on it instead so you could pretend it worked while you walked down the stairs next to the elevator shaft.

In 2013, I got stuck at the top of the hill inside Everest, which is actually the highest point. I am a paraplegic, so the fire department had to carry me down 17 flights of unairconditioned stairs in 85 degree heat!

wofl! :rotfl2:

That sounds like a really cool place for a ride to malfunction....wish I was riding it at the time. It may have been the highlight of the vacation!

OP, did you get any "compensation"? Like an anytime, any ride FP?
