OP, did you get any "compensation"? Like an anytime, any ride FP?

Yep. One any-time, any-ride (within AK) FP ticket.

And that was fine, it wasn't really that much trouble, time or particularly scary. Staff acted completely cool and professional.

Would've been much more of a bummer for a "once and lifetime"-er, but we've ridden quite a few times.

It'd probably stop working after 6 months and they'd put a strobe light on it instead so you could pretend it worked while you walked down the stairs next to the elevator shaft.
