Today was a "Bucket List" Day!

I want to go to China.

I want DS to be happy. As long as I am doing everything in my power to enable that, I don't have any other goals. I frequently tell him he is my ONE. He is the only child I will EVER have, I only wanted one. He is it. So for these last few years that he is at home, I want him to be happy. Fulfilled. I want him to feel like he belongs, and like he matters. I hope he is learning the things he needs to know for when he isn't living at home anymore, so that he will continue to be happy. He has been my focus since the day he was born. So for the past 14 years I haven't really considered my "bucket list". Except for going to China. ;)

That's cool.

And China! That'd be awesome! I keep wishing we had enough DVC points to to the Adventures by Disney tour to China. Sadly, it would be more points than we'd have if we banked one yea, used one use year, and borrowed from the next. If it's going to take more than 3 years worth of DVC points, we're going to do something else.

... also mind control would be nice.
But only used for "good" - MY good. :flower3:

My bucket list right now?

Give birth to a healthy baby girl. :cloud9:

After that?

Adopt a boy :lovestruc

Raise open-minded, kind, loving children :goodvibes

Then take them to:
Portugal (Azores where Daddy was born and raised)
Greece
Italy
Lots of WDW

And really, playing an instrument, painting or singing, dancing or acting on stage are likely to last MUCH longer than playing football.
:confused3 What?

My GF went to art school, now she plays semi pro ball!
:rotfl:
I will say this, I do have some great art on my walls.......now only if she would sell some........:rolleyes1

I am just kidding, I do totally agree that our schools need way more funding for arts than for sports. I would also go one step further and say that everyone should be given the opportunity to play the sport, if they want. Schools make it all about winning, where I think it should be about learnig how to be on a team and play the sport.

I want to go to China.

I want to go back! I was there for abut 3 months in 92. I am sure is is a totally different place!

I priced the ABD China excursion a year or so ago, and for the 3 of us JUST the airfare and the excursion was $17,000. :scared1::eek: That's about what we would spend on three 2-week trips to WDW. And it didn't factor in the meals and misc. that aren't included in the base price of the excursion. Maybe when DS graduates from college. :rolleyes1

No offense intended. :) I bet her art skills will outlast her football "life".
All of the teams are on a try-out basis - nothing is just for kids to play and learn about the rules, sportsmanship, teamwork, etc. Well, I guess when the kids were REALLY little the sports through the Y weren't super competitive. But those are only offered up to a certain age.

The only sports DS has ever shown a remote interest in are golf and tennis. DH was an AVID golfer, and he was quite good, but he hasn't played for the past 5 or 6 years. It's an expensive hobby, and when he got his current job he kind of lost touch with the guys he used to golf with. Plus his schedule just isn't good for doing much of anything. We bought clubs for DS, and he did a couple of golf camps, but he hasn't done any golfing lately.

I totally read that wrong!! :rotfl2:

What do you expect? It is a post from Wally, afterall!

I'm deep buddy!
And complicated!
And transcendent!
And ethereal!
And splendiferous!
And I'm all this AND a bag of chips!
So there.

Where is the Wallylove?

See the Grand Canyon
See Niagra Falls
Visit the Acropolis in Greece
Visit London
Make my own wine (my grandfather and uncle made wine, I'd like to try it)
Visit Sicily, Slovenia, & Ireland (the places from which my family emmigrated to the United States)

That's what I can think of so far.

Not so much a "bucket list" thing, but I really want to get back into doing theatre. I realized recently that it's been 15 years since I did a show. To that end I'll be auditioning for a show with one of the local community theatres that Scott has worked with this weekend. Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to direct shows again. I really miss that.

Oh, and of course the BIG ONE: Marry Scott legally!

So, anybody else want to share their bucket list with us? I'm think what people have shared so far has been really interesting. Would love to hear more!

It's funny, when you live in this area it's no big deal to go to Niagara Falls ... I guess it's kind of like you going to WDW. Actually for us it's just like going to the local park on the weekend (but I still love it). If you and Scott ever get up this way I would be happy to play tour guide.

A friend owns a winery and I've helped him a bit, now I'm starting to experiment ... nothing major, just using juices. Although I do have some cab vines in my backyard ... I could probably make about 8 ounces!:rotfl2:

Let me know too. I'm not right there, but, I'm close enough to be able to swing by if the timing is right (my job makes timing complicated).

Yeah, I've got friends who live in Arizona who feel the same way about the Grand Canyon. And to me, the two things sort of go hand in hand. They're each such impressive displays of nature. I want to experience them firsthand, the same way I experienced climbing to the top of a mountain in the Colorado Rockies when I was young. Just to be in awe at the majesty of it.

We've got some friends who buy wine making kits, and that seems like cheating to me. Probably because my papa and my uncle bought grapes and actually crushed them in wooden barrels in the basement. I wish I knew what kind of grapes they bought and from whom. That would be a huge help in recreating a family tradition that has sadly fallen away.

If I had the cash to spare, I'd love to try winemaking via www.crushpadwine.com . It sounds like lots of fun!

So there.

Sorry Wally, but you left that door open!

My Dad used to make wine. He grew his own grapes, they were the NE concord variety. The wine was nothing that was going to win prizes, but he enjoyed the process. He did make some one year (when he ventured into using blackberries) and that was quite nice.

Give the kit a go just to get the process down, and then you can go from there. I do believe that is what my Dad did. He then put together his own "stuff" and tweaked the process until he was happy with it.
