On November 21, 1877, inventor Thomas A. Edison announced the invention of the phonograph.

On November 21, 1899, Vice President Garret A. Hobart, serving under President McKinley, died in Paterson, N.J., at age 55.
- Why is this significant, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. After Hobart died, McKinley appointed none other than Theodore Roosevelt as vice president. Then McKinley was assassinated, and Teddy became the youngest President of the United States (JFK was the youngest to be ELECTED President).

On November 21, 1985, former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst Jonathan Jay Pollard was arrested, accused of spying for Israel. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.

On November 21, 1995, the Dow Jones industrial average closed above the 5,000 mark for the first time.

Hum! That Hobart fact is a new one on me. Most interesting. I'll have to see if my smarty pants husband knows this one.

Thanks, Deb.
