Today at CiCi's Pizza I saw a women eat ...

Hmm, interesting discussion.

I can fully understand those who say, "what's the big deal, she paid for it". True she did pay for her meal. But let's change it a bit. What if she paid her 5 dollars, and then went on to take 18 pieces of pizza, but only ate the pepperonis off the pizza, and threw the rest away. Would you feel the same way? Is she still entitled to the pizza even though she is only eating a few pieces of pepperoni? Or what if a family comes in, and one of the kids takes whole plates full of pizza, but only takes a small bite out of each piece, and throws the rest away. Would you still feel the same?

Also, by taking so many pieces of pizza, but not really eating most of it, I would think that she is causing others to possibly not get the pizza that they want and paid for (I know I've had a few times when somebody would go and grab a whole bunch of the kind of pizza I was hoping for, leaving none for anybody else).

So by taking (and not really eating) so many pieces of pizza is she actually denying someone else the same ability to do so? Someone else who also paid for pizza?

Like I said, I see this as a very interesting discussion. I'm really not sure which side I'm on. I can honestly see both sides of the situation.

We have a celiac's person in our home (almost thirty years so waayyyy before there were any celiac friendly chefs or restaurants) and I am sure some of the stuff he does looks odd to people.

His attitude has been he will find stuff that he can eat rather than miss out on outings etc - and sometimes that would including eating just salad and pizza toppings. Although that is not the best solution since sometimes the crust pieces will contaminate the toppings - but I digress.

I am waiting for the thread that says - I was eating my meal when someone was counting how many pieces of pizza I ate.

So, using your reasoning, it would be okay if every customer loaded up plates of food and left them uneaten on the table?

Wow talk about grasping to try and make a point. Why does it matter SO much about what this woman ate? She paid her $5 and ate what she wanted. You don't like what she did and I get that but does that make it wrong? Not according to CiCi's apparently.

I don't eat pizza crust because I don't like wasting perfectly good space in my stomach with flavorless bread. Does that make it wrong fro me to go to CiCi's?

Yes I would still feel it was okay for the diner to do so in your several examples. They live their life and I'll live mine. If they took all the pepperoni pizza and I wanted some I would ask one of the CiCi's staff for some more pepperoni pizza.

Now if my child (if I had a child) did something like your example above I would have a problem as my belief generally is to not waste things. Uneaten crusts/dough is one thing but taking a single bite and discarding the whole slice is a waste IMO. Do I have a problem with someone else doing it? Nope. My belief is not wasting but I don't force my beliefs on other people.

I can't stand their crust either, it tastes like cardboard. More than 1 pizza seems extreme though.

Actually, she's not. At CiCi's, if you want some pizza that they don't have on the bar, all you have to do is ask. If some goob took all the awesome sardine alfredo pizza, just ask the guy and he'll toss one in the oven. A few minutes later, you're jake.

She ate what she paid for. I don't understand why anyone would care about the amount of crust left on her plate. Has anyone seen a child's plate at Cici's? Full of crust, all kids eat is the topping! Children waste far more food at a buffet than anyone else, and not only that but kids usually get a discounted price to waste the food, how fair is that to the lady who paid full price to waste hers?

Well, they say "all you can eat" so why is she doing something wrong by taking and eating all she wants? If CiCi's had a problem, they would do away with the buffet and charge by the slice.

This thread reminds me of those "people are cheating Disney by reusing mugs" discussions.

I'm with you--someone at my table does that, I'd be unhappy. But someone in the restaurant? I don't care.

When the day comes that it matters to me how someone eats at a cheap all-you-can-eat pizza dump, I will just stay home.

OK, let's go to the next step (I'm being overly exaggerating here on purpose).
Let's say that someone goes into CiCi's, pay's their 5 dollars, and then goes and takes every single piece of pizza that is out there. They don't eat any of it, but they take it all anyway. And every time a new pizza is put out, they go and take that as well, and they do this for the next 2 hours
Obviously I know this is nothing like the example the original poster made, but I guess what I'm asking is if you think there is a limit to "well, I paid for it, so I can do what I want". Do you think someone who pays their 5 dollars has the right to take every piece of pizza in the place, even if they aren't going to eat it? Is there some kind of limit, or is it truly anything goes once you pay for it?

And let me say again, I'm not saying the person in the original example is bad for what they did. I'm just really interested to see where this argument goes.

People are acting as if she took pizza selfishly, and somehow prevented others from getting it. I'm sure she had a reason. I doubt she woke up in the morning...thinking..."I think I'll go screw over Cici's pizza today."

For God's sakes...Get a life.

It's pretty gluttonous to eat the toppings off of 18 pieces of pizza. I get one or two or even 4 pieces, but 18? That has to be 3000 calories, at least. :scared1: Almost 2 days worth of calories in one meal. :scared1:

That's where I am coming from. I can understand only eating the toppings/cheese if you are on a low carb diet. But eating as much as she did sorta defeats the purpose (if that's what she was doing).

It's like someone that eats a gallon of fat-free ice cream every other day and wonders why their low fat diet isn't working.

I'm making no judgement as to if she ate her fair share or anything like that. I just thought it was one of oddest things I have ever seen at a restaurant.

What if you (none of you in particular) and your husband/wife bought 4 pizzas for a party - 10 slices per pizza. Enough for y'all and your 10 guests to have a few pieces each. You have one guest out of 10 guests who doesn't eat crust. That person arrives first and eats the toppings off of 18 slices of the 40 you bought. The person leaves all the crusts on a plate just sitting there. You run out of pizza before every guest gets their fill. Some people are conversing at the beginning and don't even get any. You have to go buy more pizza for the rest of your guests.

Most of you here wouldn't find that even a little bit odd, and if you told your hungry guests, "Oh, we have to go get more, Kelly ate the toppings off of 18 pieces", you don't think you'd get funny looks from them? :confused3

STOP IT!!! You're all making me hungry.

BTW - I'm the guy that eats all the pizza crusts that nobody else wants (but only those from my immediate family).

I know where we're going for dinner.

The sight of all of those undigested cheeseballs was so bad it was over 20 years before I ever ate another slice of pizza again.
 This really needs to be a tag! ;)

As far as the woman and her 18 slices of pizza, yea, I would have assumed she had celiac disease or was on a low-carb diet, although it's still a heck of a lot of cheese! :scared:

My mom has a wheat allergy and only eats the toppings. While she would never eat that much, I am sure people look at her strangely when she doesn't eat the crust or the buns on food. Luckily, my oldest DS doesn't like the toppings only the crust, so they will eat out together sometimes just so the food doesn't go to waste! Lets just say with them 2 can eat for the price of one at most pizza places!

If you have Celiac or a wheat allergy, wouldn't going to a pizza place defeat the purpose due to cross contamination? I thought that you couldn't eat food that was made on the same equipment as something that had touched wheat/gluten, much less pull the toppings off of a pizza crust.

I've been to breakfast buffets at work where a couple of people cut off several of the muffin tops off of the muffins and left the stumps. :sad2:

(This is NOT a Seinfeld episode - although they could have inspired that episode. :p )
