Today at CiCi's Pizza I saw a women eat ...

What if you (none of you in particular) and your husband/wife bought 4 pizzas for a party - 10 slices per pizza. Enough for y'all and your 10 guests to have a few pieces each. You have one guest out of 10 guests who doesn't eat crust. That person arrives first and eats the toppings off of 18 slices of the 40 you bought. The person leaves all the crusts on a plate just sitting there. You run out of pizza before every guest gets their fill. Some people are conversing at the beginning and don't even get any. You have to go buy more pizza for the rest of your guests.

Most of you here wouldn't find that even a little bit odd, and if you told your hungry guests, "Oh, we have to go get more, Kelly ate the toppings off of 18 pieces", you don't think you'd get funny looks from them? :confused3

Totally different scenerio--This woman was at a restaurant, where there is more coming out all the time. It is a HUGE stretch to say she would do the same thing at someone's house where there is a limited number of pizzas:rolleyes:

It's not that different, and no matter what it is still socially unusual to say the least.
Oh, and  .

Has anyone ever seen how LITTLE topping is on each pizza? You have to put the toppings from at least 3-4 slices on one slice to get a decent slice of pizza. I do this every time I go to my neighborhood CiCi's and I wouldn't let anyone on here's narrow-minded attitude affect how many pieces of pizza I ate.

I just love outrageous "what ifs" -they make so much sense. Especially the ones that have the word "everyone" after.

My cousin used to do the opposite when we were kids. She would only eat the crust of pizzas. So all the rest of us got to split the toppings scraped off of the pieces she ate. I love pizza toppings! :thumbsup2 I wouldn't just eat the toppings at a restaurant though. I love the crust too! :rotfl:

This is funny because I just can't imagine someone having 18 pizza crusts stacked up next to them...

I'm on a south beach, low-carby diet and last weekend, my three year old was invited to a birthda y party at a local pizza place..THere was pizza for the kids and a separate area for the "adult" pizzas. I actually refrained from eating because I thought it would be rude for me to just eat the toppings. THen the Mom of the b-day boy came over and asked me if I would like some pizza and I told her I was on a low-carb diet and that I should refrain from eating toppings to ensure everyone gets pizza.... She goes..."we ordered PLENTY please eat whatever you want"...So I took one piece and ate the toppings and then ate lunch at home later.
I don't go to buffets, because I tend to eat too much to "get my money's worth", so I don't know the etiquette, but I think its always rude to waste food. Just because you "can" and just because you "paid for it" aren't excuses to me...just my 2 cents....

OK, let's go to the next step (I'm being overly exaggerating here on purpose).
Let's say that someone goes into CiCi's, pay's their 5 dollars, and then goes and takes every single piece of pizza that is out there. They don't eat any of it, but they take it all anyway. And every time a new pizza is put out, they go and take that as well, and they do this for the next 2 hours
Obviously I know this is nothing like the example the original poster made, but I guess what I'm asking is if you think there is a limit to "well, I paid for it, so I can do what I want". Do you think someone who pays their 5 dollars has the right to take every piece of pizza in the place, even if they aren't going to eat it? Is there some kind of limit, or is it truly anything goes once you pay for it?

And let me say again, I'm not saying the person in the original example is bad for what they did. I'm just really interested to see where this argument goes.

My view is that I'm not CiCi's, so it's none of my business. If CiCi's decides they don't like what she is doing, they can tell her to stop, or they can change their prices, or they can post limits to what is alllowed. Until they do any of those things, she is allowed to do this.

The real question here, is what the hell are you doing at CiCi's in the first place? ;) Blech

I asked this a page or so back but maybe I didn't phrase it right:

Several people have brought up Celiac/Wheat allergies as a possibility for her behavior. I thought if you had these conditions you could only eat food that was made on dedicated equipment (equipment that does not process items containing the allergen) and that just picking the toppings off of pizza would not do you any good due to cross contamination? Is this not true?

So, using your reasoning, it would be okay if every customer loaded up plates of food and left them uneaten on the table?

Yup...WHO friggin' cares????????????

I don't believe there is the same kind of cross-contamination worry with wheat as there is with say peanuts. So no problem there. We had a Celiac kid with us in China on our trip a few years ago with Special Olympics. She ate the cheese off the pizza and left the crust.

I agree with the poster who pointed out that Cici's slices are TEENY TINY. She would have to eat quite a few of those slices to get a decent meal out of them.

I don't know about celiac. But I know a bit about allergies, my nephew is allergic to wheat. For him, he wouldn't be eating anything from the buffet, his allergies are so severe, he has to worry about cross contamination. When we all go out to eat, we bring food for him, he even brings a fork & knife from home. So I'm sure if someone saw him at a restaurant, they'd make some remark about "the kid with some sort of OCD--he brought his own fork & knife". Meanwhile, it's just a kid making sure he doesn't have to go to the ER because of cross-contamination. (and if anyone thinks I'm exagerating, he did have to go to the ER once when he was at Hershey Park. He must have touched his face after touching a railing.)

just the cheese and toppings off of about a dozen and a half slices of pizza! She had a huge stack of "naked" slices sitting on her table.

I saw that she also had two salad plates so I am assuming that she is doing some sort of a low carb diet.

But still, wow I would never do that.

I think this is iiiiincredibly wasteful!! I know it's an all-you-can-eat kind of place so pizzas are just going to keep coming out and no one is going to be affected BUT when you look at the bigger picture, that is ridiculous! I would feel HORRIBLE if I was wasting that much perfectly good food!!

If she has a serious health issue, as in allergies or celiac disease or something similar, then what is she doing eating at a pizza place? I know she should be able to eat like "everyone else" and she has every "right" to eat at CiCi's, but if I had a health issue like that I would just eat the salad, I would never eat half of something and waste the other half.

And if she was doing that because she's on some "no bread" diet in order to lose weight, that's just selfish and not the best way to go about it.
My cousin was once doing the no bread thing. She would take the buns off her bacon double cheeseburger................. Now THERE'S a good way to lose weight........

If someone is there eating the crusts or if she's taking them home to her dog, then there's no issue. But if those crusts are being dumped into the trash then that's completely unacceptable.

Reeeeeeeecession!! She needs to take a good look around her...

1. I dunno about that....

2. Cause she has every right. MYOB.

3. Be thankful you don't have a "health issue like that". You eat what you want and don't worry about what others are doing.

4. Again, we have no idea why she was doing it...diet/health whatever. She is free to do whatever weird things with food she likes. SHE PAID FOR THE FOOD.

5. how the deuce is wasting "perfectly good buns" any different from wasting perfectly good pizza crust? Seriously fuzzy logic at work here.

The DIS has become a zany place lately.

I think she was saying that tossing the burger buns was just as bad as not eating the crust. At least that's how I read it.

I actually have Crohn's disease, which is a chronic disease and something I have to deal with daily. I'm saying that if she has an issue there's no reason for her to waste food because of it.
If cheese caused me to have a flare up I would never go to a restaurant and order pizza then eat all the crust and leave the cheese toppings to go to waste.. Just a selfish thing to do when there's so many people that can't afford the $5 for CiCi's at all.

I just don't like when people are wasteful. For any reason.

And yes, I was saying that my cousin taking off the buns was just as bad, and made no sense.

The nearest cici's is 40 miles away, so we go to a local pizza buffet. The toppings, sauce, medium & thin crusts are great! Unfortunately their thick crust is gross. Sometimes it is mostly thin or medium crusts which is good, but on nights when it is mostly thick crusts, there are bare crusts on at least 60% of the tables! :dance3:

I hope you don't eat at many buffets because I'm sure they hate to see you coming! Seriously? A customer pays $5 for "all you can EAT" and to you that means "all you can move to your table - it doesn't matter if you eat it?"

I have done this, though not to that extent. I think I ate the toppings off 6 pizza slices at a pizza place when I was doing low carb. And yes, even eating the toppings off 18 slices OR eating one or two double cheeseburgers without the bread, all the bacon and eggs you want, and cheese, etc, you DO lose weight,as long as you are not eating many carbs. I just started this diet again, and I lost 5 lbs the first week, eating lots of great protein and green vegetables. I have done this before years ago, but after a brain surgery I gained the weight back. Last time, my cholesterol and lipids also went way down, and I felt much better than I did when I ate all the bread, sugar, etc.

I don't think the woman was wrong, because there ARE people who eat 18 pieces of pizza. And the bread part costs practically nothing for the pizza place to make; the topics are what costs the most money. I would be a little self conscious to have 18 naked slices of pizza on my plate, but then I would also be self conscious to sit and count how many naked slices of people someone else had on their plate.:confused3

:rotfl: That's too funny!

And exactly what I was thinking!!
