I am thinking of buying a toaster oven. Any suggestions for a good one?

I looked at the ones with the toast slots and oven, just to make the counter a little neater but I am not sure.

TIA

I recently replaced a Black & Decker one after twenty years...because it was getting old and looking shabby and no matter what the rest of the appliances did, the kitchen didn't look good and they were all depressed and angry and calling it names, so it would cry and...it was just a mess.

So, I sent it to a new kitchen where it'll fit right in and got me a shiny one. Morale has really picked up around here.

But after 20 years, it still worked fine.

Black & Decker is always a little more expensive and you DO pay for advertising...but it is a good name. I've never bought a bad product from them.

Good luck!

Cool beans... oh I am so happy to hear that your little toaster oven found a new home in which he can be comfortable! ;)

For the past 20 years we have always had toaster ovens vs a toaster. My kids and DH love the darn toaster oven. It is a versatile piece of kitchen equipment.
However... they do end up looking messy.. no matter how hard I try. I used to have a cover that fit the old toaster oven.. but the new ones are larger and I am unable to find a cover to fit.
Currently have a Euro pro... it works well. They are a cheaper brand.. under $35. Never have had a problem with it in the past 3 years.. but it looks haggard already . ok.. so I am neurotic. . I like shiny, new looking appliances

Whatever you do, don't buy this Hamilton Beach combo one -

The pop up toaster is very slow to heat up and doesn't toast evenly and the oven rack is too close to the heating element, probably to allow room for the toast, and it burns everything.

If you find a combo one that works, let us know. :thumbsup2

I like my Hamilton Beach toaster/oven. It's not as big as some ovens are- I don't like the ones that seem to take over the counter. We don't really bake in the oven - just use it for warming or cooking small items we don't want to use the microwave for.

Just bought this one at TARGET for $25.00!!! We are very happy with it. Looks good on the counter, not overly huge, love all the features as well as the price. :goodvibes

Lib E Thanks for the heads up...I was looking at that one online

Momrek...that one looks good, I thinks I will check it out.

Thanks everybody...I guess the family present from me this year will be a toaster oven:goodvibes

WhooHoo...who could ask for more?

The kids will be happy, now mommy can cook as good as the ladies at the sample stations at Sams Club:laughing:

Cool Beans, you crack me up.

I have a six-slice Rival. LOVE IT. It has a rounded front so it will fit a full sized frozen pizza in there. I use the heck out of the thing. I just replaced it. Drove all over two counties (disclaimer; I live kind of in the corner of three counties ) to find exactly the same one I'd had for the past several years. I love not having to heat up my oven to make the kids a frozen pizza, and none of the other ones I've found will fit one.

eta: mine looks almost exactly like momrek's, but is a little larger.

DD has been looking for a replacement for her B&D under-the-cabinet toaster oven, but someone said they don't make them anymore.. :(

Anyone know for sure?
