To wash or not to wash??

I have read several hints here to wash t-shirts prior to doing the transfers but to be sure and follow your directions in your transfer package. My transfer sheets instructions say "Do not wash or clean garment in any way prior to applying the transfer" I got my package at Hobby Lobby in the sewing section. It is by June Tailor, Inc.

So the question is to wash the t-shirts (like tips say to) or not to wash t-shirts (like transfer instructions say). This is my first time to do transfer paper so I don't know what to do. Needing your advice & help.

I have never bought this brand of paper as we do not have a Hobby Lobby around here. If it were me, I would call the manufacturer, verify what they say, and then do it. The transfers I use, AmyMickey, tells you to wash so that the transfer adheres properly. I would make one as directed by the manufacturer, then try wearing it around the house for a day, then wash as recommended and see if the disign peels, runs or cracks. If it does and you have enough time, then I would recommend you order some transfer paper from AmyMickey. She has the best quality paper that I and everyone else on the boards has found. Good luck. I just made 3 shirts today for myself to wear around town, not at just Disney. I wear a Disney shirt just about every day and being able to make my own is amazing. I get so many compliments on them and they have not cracked, peeled, run or anything. Several of my favorites have been washed so far 10 - 15 times and they still look like new.

Thank you very muchl I have sent an email question to the manufacturer and plan to do one of the shirts tomorrow night which gives me time to wear it and order from AmyMickey if it does not go well.
