To upgrade or not to upgrade...that is the question

We have a wonderful dilemna on our hands. We are staying at Pop Century from December 25-January 1 of this weird. We had a small windfall and now we are tempted to upgrade our hotel. We were wondering if we should change from Pop to possibly a mod or maybe even a deluexe. Any thoughts? One of our concerns is the busses. Is there a big difference in bus service depending on the category of hotel? We'd love to hear from everyone. Would you stay at Pop? Would you upgrade? To where?

Thanks!!!

One, it depends how much you plan on staying in your room. If you'll be out and about all the time except sleeping and getting ready, then I might only consider upgrading to a mod for the extra space in the room (POFQ is our FAV!!!). However, if you plan to spend a fair amount of time at your resort, swimming, enjoying other ammenities, I would consider a Deluxe and probably go with AKL or if money was truely no option, my dream stay would be at the Poly.

Or, if you don't have it booked already, I would book the MYW W/ Dining so I could enjoy a nice sit-down meal each night!

The transportation can get better the higher up you go on the resort chain. For example, even the least expensive room at the Wilderness Lodge will get you great transportation options. Bus and boat and you can even take the boat to the monorail via the Contemporary.

If you have even more money to splurge with, you can get a garden wing room at the Contemporary and have monorail, boat and bus service at your disposal. Plus the Contemporary is within walking distance to the MK!

I love the WL and the GF and Polynesian. We'll be staying at the WL from 12/19 to 12/25 and I have heard that it is simply stunning at the holidays!

Hope this is helpful!

We are staying at POP in Jan and if I had the extra money I would upgrade. We stayed at the WL this past Dec. and have also stayed at the CR. Love them both, although prefer the CR because of the monorail.

I would not make the transportation a factor--Pop has great bus service and only has one stop at the hotel and doesn't share with other hotels. I had no trouble with busses and I was there in July. I wish I was hearing as good about the bus service at GF. I hear it is a long trip to MGM and AK with stops at other hotels along the way. I guess I am just spoiled by the bus service at Pop!

I was solo when I stayed at Pop. I had a king room and I remember thinking that if I had to share the room with more than my DH I would go nuts! If I were traveling with my DH and teenaged DS I would definately look at 2 rooms at Pop, a family suite at ASMu, or a mod.

I was not at the hotel much and am not big on going in the pool. So, Pop was fine for that trip. I had not been to Disney in many years, and with so much to see and no one begging me to slow down...well, let's just say there were nights I was closing the Pop foodcourt (midnight) when I went in to get my dinner!
