Dumb Question
I am very new to this. How do you go about tipping them? Do you just leave the money? Give it directly to a person?
I leave the dollars on a note pad with For Housekeeping written on it.

i generally don't tip as we don't make much of a mess, nor require extra work. We almost never, for a 3-4 day trip, remove the "no housekeeping" type signs off. We reuse the same towels, and make (roughly) our beds. If we make a mess, we pick it up. So rarely will housekeeping come in. I'm not going to tip for 3-4 days if they don't do anything.
i even throw the trash away in a common area trash too.
That said, longer trips and I might.
We tip a dollar a day per person. I don't think we are incredibly dirty or messy. I always pile the dirty towels up in a common area, throw the trash in the trash can and wipe up any spills. I just think that people that clean up after others have a not so nice job and probably are not making a lot of money and I want to show that I appreciate the job they do. I would certainly complain if the room was left dirty, so I want to compliment when a good job is done.
Ok.........tippers win.............I had been planning on $7 a day, there are 6 of us sharing two rooms.
Think that is sufficient?

If you want to tip, have at it, but don't look to the responses on this thread as a reason to do so. Most people don't tip. They're not going to say that on this thread though, probably from fear of the namecalling they may incur and/or looking cheap.
With that said, I don't tip. From what I have read on the DIS, Disney doesn't consider it a tipped position. They get paid more than waiters, who make less than minimum wage.
Furthermore, while I appreciate housekeepers, I don't appreciate them more than the people who stand over a hot stove at counter service restaurants or the people who are paid to clean the bathrooms in the parks. I don't see people rushing to tip them.
So, like I said, if you want to tip, go for it. You are under no obligation to do so, however.

We don't tip and especially not at Disney Because it is not a tipped position according to Disney. They are paid not figuring on them getting a tip. If I leave a ton of trash like food trays I didn't get back to the food court and all the extra stuff you accumulate at the end of a trip I will leave a few dollars but other wise I do not leave a tip.
I don't tip and don't plan on starting.
Maybe a compromise...........I'll tip on the days that the sheets are changed. That's every other day right?
