To those who have driven in the past couple of weeks down I-95...

My AAA Trip Tik is showing a lot of construction on 95 in North and South Carolina. Did it slow you down? Was it lane closures? Any information you could share would be appreciated. I am finalizing my route plans, and trying to decide if I want to hit 95 in Virginia or in South Carolina. Thanks!

I may be crazy, but it looks like all the NC and SC construction was 09 completions. Nothing scheduled yet for this summer. Plus I'm convinced that the interchange construction will NEVER be completed in Jacksonville, so they shouldn't even bother with an ending date there.

Thanks for the info! I'm going over and over different possible routes and really am trying to avoid as many construction delays as possible. I wish I could just make up my mind. LOL

Just got back. Noticed no construction going on in South Carolina below exit 86. The bottom half of Georgia is still a mess, but traffic moved well anyway despite the tight lanes.

Great, thank you. My last drive in August '08 was a bit white knuckle through southern Georgia. It was at about 10 am and a terrible dark thunderstorm was moving through. Somehow I had gotten stuck in the right lane, and a van ignored the yield signs when he was on the onramp. The people behind me must have seen it coming too because they hit their brakes the same time I hit mine, thank god. 18 wheelers to the front and left of me, no shoulder to swerve on, it is a miracle that nobody hit anybody. Once the rain let up and my heart started beating normally again we were pulling into the Florida welcome center and the sun started peaking through the clouds. :goodvibes
