To those in the UK can I just ask how much you are paying for flights please?

Reading this thread has made me realise how lucky we are to have Easyjet flying from Bristol. I usually expect to pay between £50 and £60 each for us. Last visit the taxis to and from the airports cost me more than the airfare.

Very jealous Jill, hence why our trips to DLP had to be annual summer trips via Euro Tunnel.
Air France from Aberdeen for a long weekend trip is around £1,500 for us :(

Just a thought but have you considered driving? We live on the Wirral and we have driven there 3 times now. Even with an overnight hotel stop in Folkestone each way, it works out much cheaper than flying when you factor in airport parking/transfers etc.

And you don't have to worry about what to pack, we take everything!

There is a sticky thread that gives lots of advice, or feel free to ask any questions.
It really is easy!

Yes, our trips were in the main driving trips. They ranged from 7 night to 14 night stays :)

We drive too from Huddersfield, we stop over each way at a premier in near the tunnel, I love driving because you can take loads of stuff, go at your own pace and leave when you want to! Plus with the kids it's familiar and have loads of room to bring souvenirs home lol! Especially this trip with our 6 months old and taking all his food, bottles, steriliser, pram etc etc etc we would be paying £100s in extra baggage lol!

I like the idea of going by car but its 4.5 hrs down to Ashford and know the kids would be a nightmare on the journey it'd be stressful.
If it were a lot cheaper for us then I'd do it but at less than £100 cheaper I don't think it's worth it.

We dont just drive to eurostar, we drive all the way. We go through the eurotunnel using tesco clubcard vouchers, which makes it a bit cheaper. We have an in car DVD, and pretty much dont hear from the kids unless they need a toilet stop!

I personnally find that much less stressfull than being at an airport with children.

It costs us less than £300, including petrol, tolls and 2 hotel stays (we use the holiday inn express in Folkestone which is literaly a couple of minutes from the tunnel entrance, its £50 for a family room including a hot buffet breakfast).

You have to bear in mind with flights, it not just the cost of the flights. How much are the airport transfers and car parking etc.

Yeah we drive the full way too, iv made an activity bag for my oldest and DVD player, plus put games on my phone. And as we'll be driving down Wednesday evening, and then early Thursday morning to dlp I'm hoping they will sleep most of the journey as its times they would be asleep usually x

For us it's 4.5hrs down to Ashford and back to Manchester (prob £100 petrol for both ways total) where we would stay at the travelodge eureka retail park (£60 for both single nights stay overs there and back) then the eurotunnel (around £100), petrol to disney and back to the tunnel (prob 50 euros each way), toll road (is it around 20 euros?) so that's around £360. To fly it'd be £420 for flights plus 100 euros for transfers - so that's around £500.
It's just working out whether the £140 ish saving is worth it as its a long drive down there and a long drive from Calais to disney.
I do like the idea that we could just fill the car and go, and we get free parking at disney plus could come back when we wanted.
Argh I don't know what to do :(
Might just book the hotel for now.

I know what you mean, it is a tough call. It depends whether you find reseanably priced flights at times that suit.

We travel down saturday, taking our time getting to Folkstone. We stop for lunch just off the motorway at a pub with a big adventure playground (indoor and outdoor)so the kids let off steam!
then we get an early crossing in the morning, so generally we arrive at disney before midday Sunday (the french roads are REALLY quiet on a Sunday), in time to get some lunch and then get a good few hours in the park (we've been lucky that our room has always been ready at check in as well).
coming home (we normally do a 4 night/five day stay), we leave about 4 o'clock on the Thursday (after having a big buffet lunch to keep us going), and we are in Flokestone for about 7-8 in the evening.

Might let hubby make the final decision as I'm terrible at decision making!
Found really cheap flights with easy jet from Liverpool but they are on the days that disney are quoting it expensive to stay at the hotel, and the cheaper hotel stays = expensive flights, typical isn't it!
Might just have to pay out for the flights. I drive a lot generally day to day so would be kind of nice to not have to, and we have an airport/plane mad son so I know he would love to travel that way.
I'll let you know what we decide but thank you for your help :)
