Are you guys planning on hanging out in the parks right after the Princess Half Marathon, or is showering first a must?

I'd like to hang out in Epcot for awhile to keep my muscles loose, but I'm afraid I may, ahem, be a little stinky after running 13.1 miles. DF is going to bring me a change of clothes (and deodorant! definitely lots of deodorant!), but I still won't be at my freshest. I'm hoping I can spend a few hours in the park before going back to shower.

I'll be going back to shower. I just feel GROSS after I run- and especially with it being soooo warm this weekend, I'll want to shower. I'm always one of those people that hops in almost immediately after when it's been a long run though- not everyone is like that.

I'll want to walk around a little after but will likely head back. I think it depends on what you're comfortable with. I'll be showering and then go back to the parks (with my medal on of course ;)).

We had the same thought..to shower or not. I had two ADR's and we cancelled the earlier one, a 9:30 breakfast buffet, and went with the later one. For these reasons: 1. other people, we didn't want others not to enjoy their meals because we stunk 2. it might be cold in the restaurant and we all we have on sleeveless outfits.

It does seem like I saw a lot at the DL half that didn't look like they had showered, but I think there are a lot more locals so maybe they didn't have access to a shower and wanted to stay in the parks.

i will be going immediately back to ASMo to shower after i finish (I WILL FINISH!!) the race. i'm leaving sunday evening so i'll be on a time crunch to shower and check out by 11am.

i'm going to then leave my bags at the hotel and head straight back to epcot WITH my medal, walk straight to mexico and right up to the margarita stand for a fiesta margarita! i'll be smelling fresh and then in my happy place!

I thought about it, depends on how long it takes me to finish, I am bringing a change of clothes, some deodorant and a brush incase I don't head back. I don't mind if I have a change of fresh clothes and deodorant, so I won't stink horrible, just slightly :rotfl:

lol.
I am checking out on the same day too. But I have DH and my DDs(5, 2) joining me towards the end. So they will checkout and clear the luggage out. I'll go and take a shower if I think that I can make it to my lunch reservation at Sanaa at 11.30am.

If not - I'm emptying a bottle of perfume of myself and using dry shampoo for my hair.

I know that I will be hot, sweaty, and stinky after I'm done. I will most definately be going back to the resort to shower after the race.

I was planning on running (well, walking) into Epcot after I finished to grab some Fast Passes to use later when we come back. We won't be sticking around long, though.

I will need to freshen up a bit so I plan on bringing clothes and basic toiletries with me for immediate use after the race. We have ADRs for breakfast at 10:45 and I told DH that I wanted to go to AK and ride Kali River Rapids. We always go to WDW in December and have never been on this ride. I figured it would probably feel pretty good after the run. Then we are heading to the hotel to shower and back to Epcot sporting my medal and the above mentioned margarita!

Have him bring some baby wipes or similar, or even a damp washcloth with some body wash on it in a ziploc bag. and change of clothes. That should get you mostly fresh, if you want. Not like there has never been another stinky person at WDW, even without running 13.1 miles first!

All of you going for margaritas on Sunday afternoon...that is my post-race tradition since 2000. Look for me there...will be on my own. Will have medal on, and/or some pins. well, my pic is on my sig...that's me. Come say hi!

I need a shower...but liking the idea of getting a soarin' fast pass!

If you don't shower, wipe down with baby wipes, you know, ala hospital sponge bath. :cool1:

Yeah, this is a good idea! Maybe I'll just grab a Fast Pass and walk back to YC via IG. I imagine the lines for shuttles will be long, so it might take the same amount of time for me to get back walking.

Dh and DD are headed to MK that morning and I will be joining them. I was planning on going back to the Swan to shower, but now I am intrigued at the thought of going straight to the park. Choices!

Awesome idea! I don't know why I didn't think of that

We'll probably head to Soarin' to grab a fast pass. It's mom's favorite ride and she'll have gotten up at 3:30am and stood around for a few hours waiting for me to stumble across the finish line. She'll likely deserve it by then ;) Will also be a nice cool-down walk for me! Then we'll head back to shower and get functional-looking before returning.

I am not going to be running this weekend:sad1:, but I am a big fan of a shower first. I took a nice refreshing shower both days in Jan, and it was cool enough to wear long sleeves and capris. There is no way I would be comfortable after this weekend (it is warm!). Now, one exception I would make is is you are planning an Epcot day I might run in for a Soarin' FP:cheer2:
GL and have a great race!!!

Ah, the baby wipes are a GREAT idea! I'm definitely going to pack some. Hopefully those, along with some deodorant and a bit of perfume, will do the trick so that I can last at the park for at least a couple of hours before heading back to my room. I just know that if I were to go right back to POR, I will want to take a nap right away. I'm trying to avoid that until at least 2:00!

BTW how early is too early to have a post-race margarita? It's always 5:00 somewhere, right?

we are most definitely going back to the resort to shower and change. Then we will be headed to one of the parks, though I'm not sure what! Maybe MGM because we have ADR at like noon.

I'll be driving myself from AKL and will have some things in my car like a towel to sit on! I'll also be putting my 13.1 magnet on my car as soon as I've earned the right :)
I'm going to take a (shallow, brief) ice bath to try and stave off soreness and stiffness. I'll hit a park or two later in the day :cool1:

I think they open at 11:00 a.m. :rolleyes1

Actually, it's not a bad idea to make sure you get some walking around in before you take a nap (pre or post shower!). Going home and napping or sitting might feel great in the short term, but you will be stiff as a board when you wake up!

I'm prob going to go back to the resort, clean up, soak my legs in the pool a little (or take a cool bath) and then get to Epcot for a margarita and people watching.

i vote go back to the room and shower, especially if you aren't leaving until the following day. it's so nice to boogie out of there, eat something at the food court, shower..and maybe even take a quick cap nap before heading to the parks for lunch. i feel way more relaxed and taking some quiet time for myself before the post race celebrations begin!
