Is anyone else sick and tired of the singing of NATIONAL ANTHEM at sporting events. Is it really needed. How did this practice even start. Can't we leave it at ...play ball.

Doesn't bother me. I kind of like it. How long does it take to sing it? Two minutes?

:scared1: How unpatriotic of you!!!

I was so mad that the people I was with had the nerve to be talking while I was trying to listen! I couldn't care less about the superbowl OR Christina but I love that they honor America before the game. Makes me tear up whenever I hear that song. The Superbowl is so American and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside when I see the giant football players with tears in their eyes during the National Anthem.

So no...I disagree! Respectfully, of course! :thumbsup2

Sick of singing it? No. I like it. It's patriotic.

Sick of hearing people butcher it when it's sung? Definitely. It's a beautiful song just the way it is and I wish artists would stop changing it up with their own "artistic" version of the way they think it should be.

I personally would like to see singers done away with and let the band play or pipe in the music and have the audience sing the song.

Yeah, I don't care either way. It's a sporting event. I don't equate patriotism with professional athletics so apparently I'm a terrible American or something. If it is sung, great. If not, I probably wouldn't notice.

Flame away.

It's over done. Look around you the next time you go to a ball game. Most people don't pay attention. It's over done.what if disney wanted to play it when they opened the parks every morning..i don't think it will go over.

sorry not really paying attention to others. they can show their respect how they want to. as long as they remove their hats, now that pisses me off

again i agree. Hats should be removed. Maybe replace the anthem with the pledge. That might be better. But again were back to the ? It's just a sporting event do we need it sung or said.

I love it. But then again, as a military wife, I feel especially proud when I hear it. I would also love it if Disney played in at park opening.

I disagree, I love hearing it, at sporting events or anywhere and I would love to hear it each morning at Rope Drop. Actually I think that sounds lovely.

So nobody knows where the practice started?

I don't care one way or the other. But, lots of people who try to sing it, simply can't.

I would much rather the audience sing it, or a local school or community chorus, or a military chorus (like the Air Force Tops in Blue that sang back-up for whoever that was that sang America the Beautiful), or really anyone other than a celebrity entertainer. The national anthem is not about entertainment, and unfortunately that's all some celebrities know how to do.

Whenever I go to sporting events its usually like Toronto vs Colorado hockey or Blue Jays vs American baseball teams and though its not my national anthem I love hearing the star spangled banner (when not butchered) and I love Oh Canada more in fact I sing o canada around the house in french and English I love hearing my anthem .. sporting events included

I guess we're bad Americans here. We don't pay attention, only stand grudgingly and don't remove our hats. Doesn't mean we hate our country or what it stands for, just don't think it has to be done at every single event you go to. You can love your country without severely overusing the national anthem.

i believe in one language. In the U.S. Sung half in english then spanish wouldn't sit well. One language one country.

Can't speak for Canada but watching hockey night in Canada ..in Toronto it's in English. In Montreal it's French and English. Since your from
Canada ...how did that start? By the way oh Canada is a beautiful anthem and Canada a great friend and neighbor. The U.S . Is blessed to have such a wonderful country as a neighbor. A little off topic .
