I am going to be at the parks the end of this week. I have 2 days planned solo each at MK and AK. 1 day planned with 26 y/a son at Epcot. I am hanging with family at Disney Springs, House of Blues, California Grill and Blizzard Beach (son will be with me at BB). My son and I will have Magic Bands. My plan is to be at the parks at rope drop each day and until they close.

I have to make a decision Monday 4/8/19, whether or not to buy advance purchase Memory Maker at $169. I can justify the cost because it is quite a deal when you consider a break even at only 10 photos. I am not so worried about photos of myself - alone, but I know I will seek out photo ops if I had MM. Plus, I know my son and I will also seek out photos. And, our day at BB with my family-6 of us will yield a lot of photos. Are there photographers at Disney Springs or any of the restaurants?

What do you folks think??

$69.99 is the price for unlimited downloads of all photos from 1 day.

You should take as many photos as you can for the 2 park days, then, go into your MDX account and purchase the photos for each day:
$69.99 x 2 will save you $$.

I would say get the memory make, for the few extra dollars you will get all three days, including on ride photos and if your son will be there multiple days, link him to your account and any photos he gets on days you aren't there will also be included, I believe it is for up to 30 days worth.

We always get Memory Maker so we don't have to pick and choose which pix we will buy. Plus, for $30 more, you can buy an archive disc that has all your photo pass pix and also some beauty shots from each park. No downloads needed.

Although overall I regretted not getting it, I'm not sure I would for only three days (we were there for 6). Are you planning a lot of character meetings? I'd go for the one-day for the Epcot day.

While I am still annoyed at Memory Maker for taking away (at least for now) the border ability I still highly recommend it. We are usually a party of 8 and getting anyone of them to take a picture of me and my daughter are almost impossible. So we take very full advantage of the photographers, On our last 12 day trip we did over 800 pictures. And I like those little ride videos as well.

Disney Springs has a Photopass location where you can take pictures. I got the Memory Maker on my last trip and used the photos there for a professional photo I needed (you can have a plain dark background too), plus they have add-on backgrounds too.

I love MM and use it every trip. That being said, not sure if id get it for solo pictures or a short trip.

My husband could go to WDW, never take a single photo, and be happy. So it may come as a surprise that he loves the memory maker. He likes that it allows me to leave my camera behind (or not use the phone for the same purpose). :) He feels like instead of me trying to keep looking for ways to get good photos I can let someone else take them for us. :) And I love that we get the ride photos, especially on rides where my kids and/or DH go on the ride and I do not. (I'm the ride baby in our family.)

So for us it's worth the extra expense----at least at its current price.

If you're going to meet a lot of characters or you really like ride photos get it. It's always a no brainer for us since we go for a week and DD10 loves to meet characters. But with a shorter trip like yours I might go with @hiroMYhero suggestion.

Where are the Disney Springs locations? If this is included - we can do some great group photos.

We are not doing any character meals.

I have linked my son's account to mine. I figured if we each wear our bands at Blizzard Beach, this will yield great photos of our group.

Does MM also include photos of the parks with no people in them- are they stock photo's. I was going to bring a small camera for the night shots and fireworks. My Iphone does not do a good job with night shots.

I believe with 3 parks and a water park and Disney Springs - we could max out the full MM and unlimited MM.

I will say that the first time I used Memory Maker was back in 2011 on a 3 day trip to Disney. We only did 3 days in the parks....one in AK and two in MK. My son was then 3 so we took major advantage of the meet and greets. Let me just say, we got our monies worth. It was Photopass back then and I believe I only paid a little over $100 for it. We got 174 photos....some of which were the "special ones" they put in of the Disney icons (the castle, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life) and the characters, but the majority probably about 160 pics were of my son, husband, and I.

My husband and I are thrill ride junkies and we got such a kick out of the ride photos / videos. Our last trip was 2 years ago, and I'm still grateful for all those captured moments that we would never have had if we didn't get Memory Maker. We would never have bought them on impulse because of the price, but they are my favorite souvenir out of any trip I've ever taken. There's just something so spontaneous and fleeting, and wonderfully hilarious about seeing us in all those moments. I love all the character shots, posed shots and magic shots that we also got, but the ride ones are something else. I think Memory Maker is one of the best Disney add-ons, and this is coming from someone who absolutely does not like to be photographed on a normal day.
