We literally say, "can you please make it colder."

inspired by the next Wednesday thread, dh and I have a little disagreement about this. just a minor thing, but every summer it comes up. we laugh about it, each insisting we are the correct party.

if you want the house to be colder, do you turn the ac up or down?

Same thing here. To make it colder, I turn it down. My husband turns it up. :)

In order to get cooler, you have to lower the temperature, so it's turned down. Think of a thermometer. The lower temps are down at the bottom.

Since it is Minnesota, and we are having perpetual cold weather, when my house gets too warm, I open the window. :rotfl2: (As I did today...it was 60 outside, but the house was 76...too warm...)

Anyway, to answer the question seriously, my husband and I agree that you turn the AC down when you want it colder.

That's a *no brainer*! Of course, it's down! Can't believe how many people actually said you turn it *up* to make it colder! :confused3

Down, of course. Everybody knows that. Next question, please.

:stir:

Am I the only one that says "off" and "on"?

If I am hot, I turn the AC "on". If I get cold I turn it "off".

In a in-window AC, there are four settings: off, low, medium, and high.

"High" means MORE AC. That means a LOWER temperature. But you would be turning the intensity of the AC UP.
