To Lighten Things Up...

So, there was a big snow storm. I went out to my car, and I was freaking out. I had no idea how I was going to get home in all that snow. I could barely see where I was going!

And then I remembered what my Dad always told me. He told me that the safest place to be in a snowstorm was behind a snow plow. It only makes sense, right? Just follow the snow plow -- the road will always be clear!

So, feeling pretty proud of myself, I pulled over, and sure enough, a little while later, a snow plow came by. I pulled out and started following him.

We drove around for quite a while, me following this snow plow. Eventually, the snow plow stopped, right there in the middle of the road. The driver got out, and walked back to my car.

I rolled down the window. The snow plow guy asked me, "Is everything alright, ma'am?"

I smiled brightly at him and replied, "It sure is! My dad told me that if I was caught in a snow storm, the safest place to be was behind a plow!"

The snow plow guy gave me a funny look and scratched his head. "Well, ok. But I've finished the WalMart parking lot, and I've got to head over to Kmart next."

Once when I was going to grad school in a blizzard, I found myself following a state trooper's cruiser, and like you, I felt safe behind him. The only thing I could see were his taillights.

After a while, he stopped and came back to my car. He asked where I was going, and I told him. He said, "I know that you're following me, and I've been doing the best I can to keep you safe. But I just realized that we're not even on the road anymore!"

We stood there for a while, looking around, and sure enough -- we were in a FIELD!

NOT FUNNY at the time, but it's pretty funny now!
