I know a lot of people use their lanyards for their KTTW on and off the ship. I did not use one last cruise (I think I just carried my purse around with me). Why do you use a lanyard (or why not)?

To me, I simply don't care for anything "dangly" around my neck. Shorter jewelry is fine, but a long-hanging lanyard would be a bother to me.

I use my lanyard...I find it convenient...hands free..lol and I know where my card is. However I usually don't wear it when I dress for dinner.

I might be somewhat a geek, as I actually wear my lanyard.:lmao:

It's just easier for me to keep track of it that way. I don't wear it in the dining rooms though, and I keep it in my purse when we're in port.:)

I didn't wear my lanyard cause I didn't want it in all my pictures. But I did use it for my card and tied it around my dsl camera strap. That way I only had to carry my camera around but my card was secured to it.

I wear a lanyard on the ship just to keep my KTTW card handy. I don't like putting the card in my not-deep-enough pants pockets because I'm afraid it would fall out. I don't wear the lanyard off the ship, though. I keep my KTTW card in my purse in port.

I guess our family are lanyard dorks-lol. We wear ours from the time we board till the time we disembark. We will even wear it to the parks if we stay a few extra days ;-) I find it to be convenient and I don't worry about losing my room key and I hate carrying a purse around the ship. Just my preference.

we always wear our lanyards. I like knowing where my KTTW card is... or I would forever be searching all the time for it.

at dinner I dont wear it.. but I still keep the card/lanyard with me.

I prefer the DVC lanyards over the DCL ones.. they are softer :rotfl2:

I use my lanyard during the day because I often do not have pockets and I don't want to carry a purse. I find it very convenient. I generally carry a purse at dinner or to the bars at night, so I put my key card in there.

I also find keeping it in my lanyard helps me not lose it in the room.

We wear lanyards, but not the ones DCL gives out. I found some very sturdy pirate ones at The Children's Place a few years ago and we love them. First, the pocket is very sturdy with sewn thick material around the edges. Also, they have a Velcro fastener which I really like. And they are shorter. I have even become a lanyard wearer at WDW which I never was before. I just like the ease of having KTTW card within easy reach without having to dig in pockets. I do remove for dinner most of the time but don't in ports. I guess with the Velcro fastener perhaps I should but the Velcro is very strong and I've never been able to remove simply by pulling on it.

I use a lanyard for my KTTW and also being disabled I keep a Disney gift card in it when I am off shore in WDW rather than carrying cash or charging to room. I prefer to know how much I spent! Then I charge it up with cash when it runs out. I also write my stareroom on the back with a sharpie I forget! I also keep my driving license in it for id. Plus I just get a kick from wearing it lol. Like OP I prefer DVC ones.

Why are they so long? Is it me am I really short or does it hang around my waist? My DW has to tie a knot in it for me lol.

I've never cared for the lanyard look, especially with pictures and all. I do use the lanyard ,however, to carry both DW and my cards. I simply loop it around my belt our tie it to the drawstring of my shorts and then stick the cards in my pocket. That way I don't worry about the cards falling out.

No lanyard. I don't like wearing them and they can't hold everything I carry with me all the time. I'm a "be prepared" girl plus I have to have my little notebook to jot down notes here & there for my trip report. So, I carry many variations of little cross-body pouchy-bags that I make for myself. ((And trying to get a little Etsy store going.))

The bags are either flap top or have 1 little Velcro closure. I sew 2 pockets inside that are key card size so I can reach in, pull my KttW card, and slip it right back. The 2nd key-size pocket is for when I may need a gift card, credit card, or drivers license. The bag is just big enough for my notebook, lip gloss, and small point-n-shoot camera. Wearing cross-body leaves me totally hands-free with storage at my fingertips. Very lightweight. I can even sit comfortably without taking it off. No fumbling for a secure, out-of-the-way spot to put my bag. Sometimes I get compliments which REALLY rocks my boat because then I say with a gigantic smile on my face: "Thank you! I made it!"

I never wear my lanyard on the cruise. I do however keep my GPS for geocaching on my DCL lanyard. I works really well and is a fun reminder of our great trips and the ones to come.

I used to use one on every crusie - I was very used to wearing a lanyard at work so it was convenient to carry my card and ID (even though I'm almost 40, I still get carded occasionally - learned to always carry ID went I was 36 and denied a drink at the Contemporary because I didn't have ID with me).

Now that I work on a different floor, I don't use a lanyard everyday at work so the last couple of cruises I haven't used a lanyard - I just tuck my card and ID into my bra strap and I'm good to go (I normally carry my phone there when I'm at home so it's fine for me).

We use them, but we also pin trade so that's really why, in fact the one I wore on my last (and first cruise) didn't even have a pocket for the KTTW and I really just wore it for pin purposes, next cruise I'll get my 1st silver lanyard and will just move my pins to it. Only time I don't wear it is in port because I don't want to lose pins!

I use a lanyard during the cruise. I wear one every day at work anyway, so no big deal to me. I never carry a purse, at all, while on the cruise, and rarely have pants with pockets, so I wouldn't have anywhere else to put my KTTW card.
