To lanyard, or not to lanyard?

I use a Vera Bradley Shoot from the Hip bag. It is small enough for my KTTW, iPhone (camera and children entertainment at dinner, if needed), Navigator, lip balm, any maybe some small wipes. It keeps my DD's pin trading when she needs it but doesn't wear it.

Well, we're a lanyard wearing family all of the time - even at home. DH and I teach for a university where we are required to wear our campus ID and it must be visible at all times while on campus so everyone wears a lanyard. Wearing one on a cruise ship is second nature.

I put the key card in the lanyard and then stick the plastic portion of the lanyard in my pocket so the lanyard itself hangs out. It's so much less annoying then having it around my neck.

If you have children, encourage them to wear the lanyard. Personally, I like wearing it; a simple solution to have it available at all times. Bless the person who invented the KTTW. At photo ops, I usually take it off for the shot. But do what YOU like!

And my teen boys put their KttW cards in their pockets. Can't take a pocket off. Harder to lose a pocket than a lanyard. ;)

Educate me. Other than unlocking the door to your cabin, what do you use the card for?

Charge drinks and purchases from the store. Also, you need it to get on/off the ship.

Thanks! So it would definitely be a good idea for dh and I to wear our card. Where do you buy lanyards - on the ship or should I buy one before our trip?

I believe you can buy them on the ship but I would before hand as I'm sure they're much more expensive on the ship. I know Party City has had some Disney ones for $1. Or if you are close to a Disney outlet, sometimes they have the pin trading lanyards on clearance. Just make sure you get one with a decent pouch. I have found pouches with people's cards, money, ect a few times at WDW cause they have ripped away from the lanyard.

I too wear a lanyard every day at work. So it is feels normal wearing mine. I don't like th idea of the putting it in my pocket. I take it off for all pictures and when we are in port.

First time cruisers can purchase lanyards in the gift shop on board. After the first cruise, you will be getting one upon check in when you get your KTTW card.

Definitely to lanyard. My swim stuff just doesnt have pockets. (My husband likes his pockets.) We have dressy ones that look nice for dinner. If I get a Castaway Club one or a ribbon style one, I'll probably take that to the islands and leave my dressy one for night (and just switch out the clip) because my dressy one got a teeny bit rusted from being in the beach bag with wet stuff. But I always have that peace of mind of not having to check for it (especially off the ports) and especially so I don't leave the room without it!

I may wear it to WDW next. I never thought of that but checking my bag pocket before leaving the park and hopping and checking it again prior to checking into the next one, and then checking all day for fast passes etc, it just makes a lot more sense for an OCD 'ticket checker' like me. In which case, I will wear an Ariel or disney ribbon style lanyard and then use my fancy one for cruising again.

On the subject of hip or messenger style mini bags, I have done this for dinner as usually my probiotics and chapstick etc. won't be far away.

The lanyards nowadays are quite stylish!
