To Kidney - and BEYOND! MAW PTP

YAY! So glad it went well for you and I'm hoping you get your first choice!

I've seen the youtube videos of PUSH - so cool!

He's a cute little trashcan. :thumbsup2

Yay for his official wish!! Hopefully you get your first choice of dates! I need to practice my patience too.. Trevor's isn't until May. It seems so far away!

Jackie

Hey, Star Wars is worth the wait!;)

Just got a call from Scott, one of our wish granters. He said we are pre-approved and should get a call about dates very soon!:jumping1: Honestly, I have no idea what "pre-approved" means, (except in reference to credit cards I don't want or need!) but I'm excited nonetheless.:banana::woohoo::woohoo:

Can't wait to go back and make even more magical memories as a family!

Yaypixiedust: that is so exciting! Cute pic of your kiddos:)

We were told with Trevor's wish trip that we were pre approved too. The wish grantors said that meant we needed final approval from his cardiologist. Basically saying that he needed to be approved for flying, or any restrictions at Disney like going on rides and stuff like that.

Hope you get the dates you want!

I have kinda put Trev's wish in the back of my mind with planning and stuff as my FIL was diagnosed with throat cancer a couple days before Trevor found out he was going to have a wish granted. It has been a crazy whirlwind summer thinking I would be able to do all these things. But we have been focused on my FIL and now he is done with treatment! He goes back in a month to see if the cancer is gone.

The last couple days the kids have really been asking a lot of questions and I am starting to get antsy! May is SO far away! Especially since Trev will just be starting the second grade in a couple weeks and we will be going at the end of the school year!

I took the kids out to the flight line at Boeing Field today to show them the kind of plane we will be in. The girls were asking every few minutes if we could go tomorrow :)

Trevor wants to do it all so we'll see what he ends up wanting to do... Good thing we have months to figure it out :)

Jackie

Lilfoot93 - so sorry about your FIL's throat cancer. :worried: We had a family friend that had that too, but she pulled through with flying colors...it's been several years now. Hope he makes a full recovery!
That would be fun to watch the planes take off, but there is no WAY I'm dragging the kids down to Hartsfield in Atlanta through bumper to bumper traffic unless we are getting on a plane ourselves! Hats off to you for being "cool" :cool2:

So far things are looking up for my FIL. He is slowly getting his strength back. Now eating and being able to taste things are another story! That will come with time though. The Docs are pretty optimistic that they got it all so we will see in about a month when they do another test. Glad to hear your friend had a successful treatment for her cancer. It's always so hard to hear that word. But it is amazing how far technology has come!

As far as the planes, we just went to Boeing Field where they put the finished planes on the flight line that are ready to be tested. No way was I going to go to Seatac and watch planes take off... I'm not that nice :) Like you said, when we go to the actual airport it will be when we are getting on the actual plane!

The kids did think it was pretty cool to see all the big planes though. We live next to a small airport and the kids keep asking if those are the planes we are going to fly in. So I thought I could take them to where they make the planes. Much closer and easier to get to :)

So - Friday, I get a call from Scott to say we are 100% approved and he asked which dates would be our number one pick. So I said February dates are first, April dates are 2nd and we are still contemplating a third. He said since we are giving "advanced" notice and not asking to go before the end of the year, or during a major holiday, we shouldn't have any issues with going on one of those two dates. :thumbsup2 Then I heard from our wish coordinator that same afternoon, confirming the dates we wanted and asking what medical equipment we were in need of (luckily, we only need an IV pole to hang his feeds on - we'll bring his feed pump with us). She said we would hear back soon, but she was leaving next week to head out of town. Enjoy your vacation Tejal!:goodvibes Today, I got a call from Scott again - we GOT OUR DATES!!! It's only been TWO weeks since we MET them - and we are 100% approved and have DATES!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
So our official wish trip will be February 17th - 23rd. :dance3:
I can't believe it!!!!! I'm so stoked! We waited from last November until May to receive ANY contact from our MAW chapter. Then I get a call in July that they are moving Matthew forward and able to meet him on his wish. And then it just FLIES by! I thought it would be several more months to do all of this - NOT that I'm complaining - just shocked and happy and relieved! Now on to the FUN part!! RESERVATIONS!!!!:yay::yay:

:yay: :yay: I'm so happy you got your first choice of dates! And you're already approved! So exciting ... so happy for you and your family! :cheer2:

How exciting, dates :cheer2: Let the planning begin :) I'm glad you got your first choice too!

I've been MIA, luckily - NOT due to any of my kids, but due to my crappy car! Brakes, rotor, regulator and now new tires. And Matthew's meds just came in today, so that's a pretty bill as always. One day I WILL find the magic of growing a money tree in my backyard. Until then I will just be grateful I have my beautiful children with me and enjoy eating mac and cheese for several nights this month.::yes::
And thanks for the congrats - we are still so happy for this! Matthew has told every one in his pre-k that he is going to Disney World. Several teachers want to come too.:rotfl:

Ouch - so sorry to hear about your car. :crazy2: When you do find that magical money tree, would you mind sending me a few shoots? :teeth:

Sounds like Matthew is definitely excited! :yay:

I looked for "magic" beans at the grocery store -they didn't have any left. Guess I'll hit up a plant nursery next, you know - before I jump on my flying unicorn to the enchanted forest and bribe a troll for a seedling and all. :rotfl:

This day, 4 years ago, Matthew came home from his 7 week NICU stay. :woohoo: Granted... he only was able to stay home one night before spending another 2 weeks on the transplant floor due to wonky labs, but I still celebrate our 1st family day anniversary!:lovestruc

Here he is 7 weeks old, weighing in a hefty 5lbs and 10oz!:thumbsup2

There are so many posts in here that I want to quote but I had to do this one b/c you said WONKY! A friend of mine (fellow heart mama who's possibly about to head the transplant route with her little boy) and I love that word. Well, love is a strong way to explain..let's just say it's one of those "I said it once and in the context, it cracked her up and made her wonky day better!" kind of things :)

Your sons are precious and I just can not imagine all you have had to endure with 29 surgeries. Two major open hearts, a chest tube for a collapsed lung, heart caths, NG tube placements and ear tubes were enough for us! It is just amazing how strong kids can be and how ignorant some doctors are. Thank you for giving your boy the chance to prove the world wrong! YOU ROCK, MATTHEW!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!:flower3: I guess it is the southern girl in my, as we love wonky too. Not in regards to labs!! But in general, life is more entertaining when it is wonky!:lmao: Thanks for stopping in - man, I need to update! But the need to hit the grocery store is a bit stronger right now. Blah.:crazy2:

I'm originally from Alabama, so that probably explains our kinship in Wonkyville. Grew up in Gadsden (about 40 miles NE of Birmingham).

Have fun getting groceries. I'm about to take E to school and run some errands, myself.

Dreamed about Disney last night...but I can't remember any specifics. Just that I was tired. ;). So, it could have been a "planning" dream or an actual "walking" dream! Haha...

I'm gonna surf around on the Disboards while E is watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates pirate:. I have a few minutes til we need to leave. Maybe I should set an alarm.... :rotfl2:
