I'm interested in getting an Ipad, but some of the tablets seem to have alot more to offer.

I currently have an Ipod Touch which I love.

Any opinions?

Thanks for your input.

My husband brought home an Android tablet from work. My daughter used it for about two days before she went back to her ipodtouch.

I love my Ipad. (also have a touch)

I love the size of the screen, I love that it's compatable with my ipod material, I love reading on it, both my nook books and my library's emedia. I love the apps. I love that I have ALL my different amusments (books, movies, music, games) in one package. I love my 3G so that I can use it in the car and while traveling, and that I can choose to switch to wifi if I'm somewhere with a free hotspot.

I did not love the price. I did not love that's it's not really purse compatible for me. It can get heavy when you're reading so I did not love the weight.

However I do not know that I would have bought any of the other tablets that have come out. The Fire is the closest I've seen but there already a number of glitches and drawbacks that we're hearing about so I wouldn't have bought the first round of those for sure.

It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you want it to sync your life, if your life is on a mac it's easier. I.E. if you use ical, safari, icloud, itunes...everything will be simple for you. It's also a little easier to use, especially if you already have an ios product. the Android has a learning curve. It's small, but it exists. However the ipad has very limited functionality. One major thing is that besides applications and updates generally costing money (and apple isn't cheap to begin with!) the kinds are limited because apple has to screen EVERYTHING.

Android tablets offer much more freedom. Most applications are cheaper than on the ipad, or you can find the same exact thing for free. Android is open source so anyone can release an app so long as it passes googles virus and quality check. The interface is completely customizable and os updates are done automatically and free.

One really nice thing about some android tablets is they have usb and sd ports. iPad's dont have either. This means you can NEVER expand the memory. If you buy a 16 gb ipad you have to live with it. An android tablet however will allow you to buy the 16 gb ipad, then for an extra $100 add a 32 gb sd card for expanded memory and even another 2 tb external hard drive if you want! This is a big deal if you plan to use the tablet to watch movies which you'll probably want to do since its essentially a portable tv.

Another media outlet of course is iTunes, which android tablets dont have. But they do have Google Music. It is googles new music store and app. The beautiful thing about it is all your music is stored in the cloud, and even available off it! This means that when you buy a new song on your android tablet, it instantly shows up on your computer. No plugging in your tablet, waiting five minutes and reorganizing your library. It's all done immediately and syncs between all android devices that you own.

Android tablets, because of google docs, also have a basic word, ppt, and excel editor. Pretty neat if you're using it for work or even to update your disney budget as you're on vacation! To get you to disneyworld, android has a fantastic gps system. It's so good it's what Audi now uses in all their cars!

One bad thing about android, if this is going to be a problem, is that there really isn't much customer service. The individual manufacturers (Samsung, acer, etc.) do have cs, but its mostly for hardware problems. If you have software problems you have to go to google's website and look on forums. Since you're on this site to ask this question, I doubt this would be that much of a problem for you, but in the end there is no physical person at the help desk to string you along. (of course if you have some friends that work at google, they can help you or get you in touch with their it guy)

Have fun with whichever one you choose!! And sorry if i was biased.

We have an HP Touchpad, Nook Color and the iPad. There is no competition. If it doesn't have an apple on the back, it's just an imitation.

Love my iPad. I never have to boot up the laptop (which took forever!!) I leave my iPad on all the time and jump on the Internet whenever I want. My computer usage is very simple though. I only do online shopping, reading the news, checking email, Facebook, twitter. I also use the Netflix app and my cable company app to watch movies. I use a lot of apps as well (games, recipes, etc.)

For me (and I know this is not the
case for some) but my iPad has replaced my laptop. No regrets!!!
