To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

If you start trying to grab boxes and throw turtle shells and bananas at other runners in real races we'll know you've played too much kart during your time off!!

Have you and G watched Wreck it Ralph? Roxykiddo loves the sugar rush racing characters in that movie and we are very excited about the sequel!

And, I should also admit that we had a major Mario Kart addiction a couple of years ago and unlocked all those characters, so I appreciate the "drive" to get them all. :D

Haha! I love MarioKart. I don't think I have the Wii one but I've spent many hours on some of the older ones. I really liked Double Dash for the GameCube because I would have my mother play and throw things off the back of the kart while I drove. Truly a tag team effort. Good luck to G on getting to finish a race. I'm sure she'll be beating you soon enough.

She loves it as well! One of her favorites! We're excited for the sequel as well!

LOL, drive... :car: I know who to get my tips from now.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Well she's definitely gotten better at it. At first, tt was barely driving forward and now a few weeks later finishing laps.

Sorry about the extended and unexpected time off! I am glad you are shutting it down and letting yourself heal.

I know you will come back better and stronger and faster!

I'm finding it hard to get back to running after the time off, but I feel stronger and better than ever. It's just forcing myself to get off the couch in this cold weather (and with yet ANOTHER cold! God, is this winter over yet?!?!)

Thanks! Certainly feels like the right decision. So far no issues today, so fingers crossed.

Sounds about right. It usually takes me about 21-42 days post-marathon to get in the groove again. Boo to sickness!

How long do you think you'll take off? Are you thinking about cross training with an elliptical?

@opusone hope you heal quick! As I get older I've become more risk averse. I used to love snowboarding, but now I just think about all the ways I could get hurt. So I just chill in the cabin with hot cocoa and a good book. Maybe I'll take ski school when my littlest is old enough.

I saw the most awesome thing at a home show this weekend. It's a massive hot tub that you can use as a spa, but it also has jets that allow you to swim in place basically for swim training and THEN there's an optional treadmill they can put in the bottom of it so you can do low-impact running on the treadmill. You know, for when you are facing injuries and need to reduce impact but keep running.

It was amazeballs! I didn't inquire into the cost. :D

In total, 11 days. I have a run scheduled for next week Tues (2/5) of 3 miles at super easy. I then plan to take Wed off to see how I feel. Then continue on with Thursday running. This is all dependent on feeling good when just walking around and such (which so far has been fine today).

Since I don't actually know what is wrong, I decided to go with no other physical activity. The hope is that going completely without will help heal whatever the issue is since it can focus on that alone. I know it'll cost me some on the fitness side, but I've got ~9 months before the "A" race so I'm not worried. I should be back in shape within 4-6 weeks (if I can start up again).

Sounds like something to add to "the list" if we build a new home.... :thumbsup2

I got super behind on threads (because work), but I had a feeling something was up when I saw no bunny map on Strava! Needless to say, I was very concerned. I'm sure 11 days will speed by while playing Mario Kart!

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Poor bunny on the pogo stick! He surely misses me.

No worries, just trying to be proactive and cautious. If I can take 11 days now and save 60 days later on, then I'll take that trade. And Mario Kart surely makes the time fly by.

Go get 'em, you two!!!

Making progress. We've finished all of the 50cc (easy) races with a Star rating (near perfection). About halfway through 100cc (medium) with star ratings. And I've got a few stars on 150cc (hard) before I even knew that any of things existed. Once we wrap that up, it's just a matter of finishing off the "mirror" of the 150cc races. So, about halfway there by progress, but those 150cc races aren't going to be easy. I spent Tuesday night studying Youtube videos of shortcuts and tricks for the different tracks. :car::car:

Rainbow Road on the 150cc races was my nemesis for a long time. I won't tell you how many times I ran that one (because I stopped counting) before I finally won it.

Oh, it's the worst for sure. I read some articles that some believe it is the hardest Mario Kart course that exists. I don't doubt it because it is so darn frustrating. And to have it occur at the end of the event... I mean it's already hard enough to win the other races. I'm preparing myself for sure. I've got to master the shortcuts.

Where is the Mario Cart spredsheet?

I've been meaning to get over here and congratulate you on a amazing WDW marathon weekend not only on a personal level but on a coaching level. The recap and testimonials are just amazing.

Sorry to hear about being sidelined, but glad you have found an outlet in Mario Kart. I would be interested in a custom DB coaching plan for Mario Kart when you have time.:D
