To go boxes?

Indiana, but I've also lived in New York and it was the same way there.

Interesting.
My FIL was a chef who worked in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Florida and he never heard of such a practice.

Trail's End did and it's a buffet.

The chef made me grilled chicken breast, actually he made me two hence the need for a to go box :lmao: (made a great sandwich on allergy safe bread to take to the airport on our departure day. Airports suck for people with food allergies.)

I asked if it was okay to take the other piece to go and my server didn't even hesitate.

I think for the most part it is just the ability to get a to go container. Trail's end has a connected 'to go' counter so they had containers.

Brown Derby has NO to go service but they had no problem getting me a container to take our deserts in (was on DDP but we don't typically eat dessert after meals). So even restaurants without to go services had to go boxes.

At Casey's I ordered corndog nuggets to take back to the resort for lunch. No to go containers. Just wrapped them over with a napkin and got a bag from the store next door, which actually worked well as the napkin absorbed any condensation and the bag was easy to keep the top open so that they didn't steam like they would have in a container. If I'd known I was going to grab CS I would have brought baggies from the room but it was impromptu. I haven't ever been able to get a to go box at a CS.

It seems this was a unique situation. The chef cooked something specific to meet your needs. I wonder if you didn't take it as a "take out" would it have had to be thrown out? I bet yes

Really
To Go from a buffet? Where in the world (real world here) can you do that?

They were being funny, Hope!
I'd love some Pooh puffs right now, too! Wonder if they do mail-order?

Also, I have lived in Iowa and Virginia, and most buffets that we have dined at do carry-out items by weight! :)

The last time I was in a park, the day the mine train caught fire (Nov. 1), I saw A LOT of people with to-go boxes, I didn't ask from where but I've seen them in the parks a lot more recently.

Some do, some don't. It's pretty much a crapshoot. And at CS places, even when they have them they won't pack the food in them for you - they give you the container and you have to pack it yourself.

If this is something you're pretty sure you'll need to do, I would throw some Ziploc bags and maybe some small Gladware containers into your park bag, just in case. (Maybe a plastic shopping bag, too, in case you have more food to carry than you counted on.)

At 1900 Park Fare, we were too full to eat much dessert. Our server treated us with some cookies to go! :thumbsup2 (Much appreciated as we were walking down Main St a couple of hours later)
