To food-finity and beyond! Attention Star Command, dining reviews/photos ahead!

Please take this in the spirit is intended. I am not trying to be mean because you sound like a great lady, who really loves her family and dotes on her children, which is so aweome. I realize you are on vacation and it is sort of known that you don't eat the best, especially at the world.

But you are not doing your kids any favors. Mix in a healthy meal. Heck, mix in a healthy snack. Heck, mix in a bottle of water, by your won choice. If you don't, your kids are on their way to a rough life.

That was really uncalled for. I am sure the OP doesn't need a lesson on how to feed her kids while on vacation. I see very few reviews with people posting all the healthy snacks they eat. This isn't a thread for health advice, it is to share reviews of the food at Disney so people can decide on great places to eat while vacationing at Disney.

To the OP. You have a beautiful family! I really have enjoyed your threads. We were unable to take our annual vacation to Disney, and I have been so upset. It makes my day to see other families have such a great time while on vacation. I let my daughter eat whatever she wants on vacation. It is vacation for crying out loud! Oh, and today I really didn't feel like making dinner, so I drove through (wait for it) Mc Donald's for dinner:eek: We don't eat at Mc Donalds everyday, but today, was just one of those days! Don't listen to negative comments, and keep doing what you are doing!

Great thorough dining report! I love the way you post the pictures of everyone's individual meals.

I wonder if they changed the leek soup at R&C. I was there in March and my soup looked different and definitely no crispy potatoes. It was very good though.

Also, makes you wonder why in the food court biscuits and gravy are a snack credit yet you have to use to snack credits to get milk with your cereal. Interesting how the dining plan works.

Thank you for taking the time to write the report. Can't believe you've been able to do it so quickly!

After a good nights sleep Jesse was in a much better mood and we were off to the Magic Kingdom, but first we needed breakfast! Our experience at ASMO wasn't so hot but we figured we'd give a chance to POFQ to help our breakfast blues!

Jesse and Woody tried the eggs and bacon again, I had the mickey waffle meal again, and Wheezy tried the biscuits and gravy. All but the biscuits and gravy were kids meals. We had applesauce instead of grapes this time. We found out later in the week that the biscuits and gravy would be a snack credit if we wanted to use it. We did that a lot! The pic quality isn't that great here. Sorry about the fuzziness and shadows. Luckily we have more pics of the same things later in the week!:)

biscuits and gravy were really good. You get 2 biscuits and they split them to make 4 biscuit halves that are topped with a generous portion of gravy. The gravy was a bit salty/greasy but in a good way. a flavorful way. The mickey waffles were the same as ASMO. Not fresh, but not bad. The eggs seemed less runny here, thank goodness, but the bacon was a another flop, quite literally!:sad2: Come on Disney! When you can roll your bacon up into a twirly pop there is a problem!

We gave POFQ breakfast a "F" on the U.F.O. rating system. It was better than ASMO but still forgettable. At least we left full from breakfast this time! It saved us a fortune not having to eat at Goofy's afterwards!:rotfl2:

Thanks for your great reviews and pictures.:thumbsup2

I am planning my first trip in October with DS(11) - actually our first trip to the USA.:yay:

Those biscuits and gravy look really interesting I have never seen anything like it - what are they? - Are they actual biscuits and what is the gravy - sweet or savoury and what is in it??

Thanks

Its a savory gravy. Its made from milk, a thickening agent, and sausage. Its pretty strong. Most of the time we never finished both full biscuits. Its a great deal as a snack credit if you don't want to buy breakfast OOP and only have the regular dining plan.

Thanks for the Rose and Crown review..I just made that exact bangers and mash dish last night, DH loves sauerkraut and mashed taters with brats on top.

Your POFQ pictures are making me so homesick for that place....the fried chicken looks awesome! I had the shrimp po boy and DH had to share it with me, it was huge!

We liked the chips.... :upsidedow

I'll send you all the chips we get from now on.:goodvibes

How close do you live to Disney? You are so lucky to get to take so many trips!

Wow! What a disappointment with the castle. My family and I went there four years ago and we were not impressed. We are going in October and I hope it is better. But with all the negative reviews.. I'm a little concerned. :sad2:

A lot of people say the breakfast isn't nearly as bad as the dinner. We got a dinner reservation since my DD didn't do BBB until later in the day. Maybe you could try the breakfast?

I'm really enjoying your reviews. The picture of those potatoes from CRT is hilarious! :lmao:
My daughter is passed princesses, but to eat in the castle...very cool. After seeing the food and reading the reviews though, I feel good in giving it a pass.

The dinner really did stink but I'm glad we went. Even if my daughter was above the princess loving age I'd still want to go once. Will we be running back? no way! but I am glad we tried it.:thumbsup2

We are still going to dinner at CRT in July... I will try and remember to let you know how it is!!!

Oh I have a great attitude and usually find the good in most things.. but those potatoes ...you can tell in a photo they were awful....

See even though I will be going on the dining plan I do not think of the meal as "free" .. you still paid a pretty penny for it!

Geesh even when I go in with low expectations I don't expect it to be that bad... LOL

I hear ya! I find it so funny that one of the most sought after ressies is this castle meal and it was just plain inedible. Honestly though, it was one of the best memories our family has from the trip. It was just so funny it was one of those moments where you kind of enjoyed how bad it was. We'll certainly never forget it!

Thanks, but I'm not upset by her comment anymore. Trust me, she has alterior motives other than concern for my family's diet.

I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip! We've had do cancel trips before close to our arrival date and it really stinks! Just start planning for your future trip, even if you don't know the dates of it. Good things come to those who wait....and plan....and dream....and obsess!

I'm a teacher so summer's off is a perk!

I don't know about the soup changing. It was our first time there. I've had leek soup before and the potatoes where chunked up in the soup more like a potato soup. this soup from R&C was different. But I really liked it!

If you get the beef order it rare.... maybe it will be chewable for you. BTW: They did NOT ask how we wanted our meat cooked. Why no choice?

I don't think that they even cook it in the castle...
When we went years ago.. the prime rib was good.. too bad they changed...

Walking through Mexico Woody decided he wanted to eat at La Cantina. He was in heaven:littleangel: and I was in....well....the other place.;) Woody and Jesse LIVE to eat Mexican food. Wheezy can eat it but doesn't seek it out. Me? I could never eat it again and be okay with that.

Woody ordered the Tacos de Carne and a popcicle for dessert.

He loved these things. They are traditional hand-made shells. Not the hard one's we're used to from the supermarket. They were made of corn and were soft and warm. He loved them. The meat, he says, was also very good. It came with a pico de gallo and lime.

Wheezy and I ordered the nachos. Wheezy tried the churros for dessert and I had a popcicle. The nachos were okay. We got them without sour cream or jalepenos so you can add those if you want. They were just plain old nachos that you'd get anywhere else in my opinion. Then again, I'm not a Mexican lover so I may be a bit biased. Wheezy said the curros were just "okay" and he didn't finish them. It came with a caramel sauce on the side that he never opened.

Jesse had a side of beans and some chips (not pictured). She ate every last bite of those black beans. She loves beans so much!

Here's the popcicles: I got lemon-lime and Woody got coconut. They were very strong in flavor. The coconut one tasted like coconut milk and it had huge chunks of acual coconut at the bottom. You can see the lemon-lime on off to the side of one of the pics. We were so intrigued with the coconut chunks in the white one we didn't get a good pic of the green one.

We gave La Cantina an "F." on the U.F.O. scale for "forgettable, but good". Woody did ask to go back later on in the week but he was outnumbered in votes! ;)

They don't cook it in the castle??? Where do they cook it? I just assumed there was a castle kitchen.

We had dinner in '09 and it wasn't nearly as bad as yours seemed to be but still not as good as most of the other meals we had that trip.

I really do love eating in the Castle though so we are trying breakfast this trip. Hopefully it will be better than dinner!

Just something I thought i read at some point... I could be wrong.. But that would explain your petrified mashed potatoes...held too long in a warmer perhaps??
:confused3
