To food-finity and beyond! Attention Star Command, dining reviews/photos ahead!

After more rides and some swimming at the hotel we headed out to Ohanas for dinner. We have eaten here before and it was one of our favorite meals. We had some really high expectations for this meal!

Our wait was only about 10 minutes and we were seated along with the little green men for this meal. The meal started with salad and hawaiian bread with pineapple in it. Then we had noodles and broccoli/pea mix, chicken wings/pork dumplins of some sort. Then they brought around the shrimp, beef, chicken, and pork that had been slow roasted over the fire. There were 3 dipping sauces but we opted out of one due to peanut ingredients. For dessert we had bread pudding with banana sauce and plain ice cream in case the kids didn't like the bread pudding.:goodvibes

The dinner lived up to expectations. My favorite was the broccoli and pea mix. After being cooked they still had quite a crunch to them and that is just how I like my veggies cooked! I also ate my fair share of noodles and shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and wasn't rubbery. the noodles just had a good flavor to them. The bread does not have a taste of pineapple to it that I noticed. That was a turn off for some of us at the table and they didn't try. I honestly thought it just tasted like a normal bread. It was warm, soft, and good.

Jesse ate a ton of the broccolis and centered the rest of her attention on the noodles. She picked at a chicken wing but didn't really eat any meat although it was offered to her.

Wheezy loved the shrimp and asked for 2nds on it. He tried a bit of all meats but didn't seem to like them as much as the shrimp.

Woody hates shrimp and focused his energy on the beef. He did try the pork and chicken but didn't finish them.

The 2 green men ate it all and claimed that the shrimp was the best. those at the table who tried the pork and chicken claimed it to be a bit dry. I didn't try either so I can't say for sure.

The dessert didn't excite any of us. We almost told them to skip dessert but we decided to try it since we were there already. To our surprise we all ended up liking the bread pudding. Wheezy and Jesse didn't try it but the adults all thought it wasn't too bad! The banana sauce made the dish!

Unfortunately our waiter wasn't up to par. I think English was his 2nd language and he wasn't really understanding all of our requests. For instance, Woody asked for some of the beef and he brought over the shrimp and started to put it on his plate. Woody kept trying to politely stop him and he told him he didn't want any shrimp but the waiter looked confused and kept piling more on his plate as if he thought Woody was asking for more. Same with little green man grandpa. He was given portions of food he was trying to deny but never got some of the refill of what he really asked for. green man grandma had problems ordering her drink and ended up having to point at it on a menu to get him to understand (alcoholic beverage). The waiter sure was trying...just not getting it all the time. He was very nice and brought Jesse a handful of leis and drink umbrellas to play with when she was getting antsy. He just seemed really slow and disappeared a lot throughout though.

They still do the games at Ohanas. There was dancing and coconut races which Jesse loved.

Overall we gave Ohanas a "F" on the U.F.O. rating system. We loved the food but the service was just a bit "off" on this trip. We'll probably return anyway in the future but it just wasn't one of our top picks this time around.

Mmmmm...broccoli!! That was the best part of the meal. And as for your family thinking the bread pudding "wasn't too bad", well watch out!! I'll push you out of my way with a giant spoon to eat up that yummy goodness. I can't believe your children didn't try it!!! Actually, last time we went, we dined with friends and their little girl was afraid to try it. My daughter talked her into it and she was hooked.

loving your reviews so far !! it's funny, we've never considered Tutto or LTT, but you have me thinking now.....;) might have to go!

I loved hearing about Ohana, that's one we haven't tried yet but is on our "next trip" list.

Oh, and just to throw in.... when we went, it was my birthday. The GF put a big white chocolate Mickey in the room. Our DD ate a hunk of that Mickey every morning. Would I let her do that in our "real world" ? of course not. but it's vacation. Life is different on vacation. Your kids are adorable.....
please keep your reviews coming !!

The next morning only Wheezy wanted food before heading out so he got a yogurt with a snack credit. He loved it because it was one of those "fruit on the bottom" ones and he'd never had one. I've always got the blended kind with little to no chunks. Guess I'll have to start getting those fruit at the bottom ones!

Well at Epcot we headed over to Teppan Edo at 12:00 for lunch. I'm a bit bummed because they supposedly have an opening ceremony at 12:00 but we were 10 minutes late so we missed it if they did.:sad1:

We were seated at about 12:20 with another family and we ordered. I ordered the steak/shrimp combo (because I apparently didn't have enough shrimp last night!), Woody got the steak and chicken (huge surprise), Jesse got the chicken, and Wheezy went for the swordfish. All of the dishes came with noodle/veggie mix and white rice.

Our chef wasn't the best. She wasn't being as entertaining as other chef's around the room. What really bugged me though was she wasn't cooking the different aspects of the meal to where they would all be done at once. Our meal was fed to us in "shifts". First everyone got noodles to start out with. About 10 minutes later the shrimp was done for those of us who ordered it. Then chicken was another 10 minutes later. She didn't even start the steak until all of the chicken/shrimp was off the grill so that wasn't served for another 15 minutes! It made eating awkward since you only got part of your meal. I wanted my steak and shrimp at the SAME time, not separately. Poor Woody and me, by the time we got our steak the kids were long done and ready to go! I was watching around the room and the other chefs were timing the cooking so that EVERYTHING was done and served at the same time--from the noodles to all meats. They got served their entire meals at once. Maybe our chef was a trainee???? For those of you who are used to Hibachi grills there really wasn't much of a show. I've seen better locally.
They do not light the volcanoes with fire either. Just let it smoke a little.

Anyway, we loved the food when we got it. Wheezy LOVED swordfish and even enjoyed the veggies I thought he'd put his nose up to like the mushrooms. Jesse loved the chicken, noodles, and rice but picked around the mushrooms, onions, and other veggies on the plate. The shrimp I had was just so-so. They were tiny and rubbery. I'd skip those next time. The steak was good though. Noodles were okay. Sticky rice was awesome. There were dipping sauces too but they were all to strong for my taste! I had the ginger cake for dessert. Again, to strong for me to finish. Everyone else opted for the frozen yogurt.

Sorry about the pics. A lot of the plates look "incomplete" because the food was being served/eaten in shifts. Didn't work out too well really.

We gave Teppan Edo an "F" on the U.F.O. scale. We liked the food a lot and it was fun for our kids but we've been to better Hibachi grills with more entertainment and eating our food in shifts was just plain sad.

Okay, so this isn't really food...I just can't help but add it though! As we were leaving Teppan Edo we were lucky enough to see Miyuki starting her candy art show! This is one of those things we've always wanted to see but we never took the time to make it to Japan at the appointed time so we were lucky she was just starting. She is AMAZING!!!! She was literally taking kids' suggestions for animals and them molding them out of hot sugar! She painted them and everything. Whe can finish an animal and paint it in about 2 minutes!!! She did 7 during our 20 minute show. Wheezy was lucky enough to pick an animal and he chose a mouse. She gave him a piece of cheese and everything! This lady is AMAZING!!! You really must see her. She was nice enough to take pics after the show too. She did not give the candy away as she used to due to health codes in Florida. Who'd want to eat it anyway???

Okay, we can't even eat that candy but it is still technically a food...food art that is! I'm giving it a "U" on the U.F.O. rating system for unforgettable! We won't ever miss this show on a trip again!

Well, we'll step aside and let you have it! We'd much rather have a dole whip somewhere! Besides, that broccoli is so good you could it a ton of it and not need dessert!:rolleyes1

You're sweet! I'd ove to celebrate my Bday at the GF! lucky you!!! I know you'll love Ohanas if you go on your next trip. Great atmosphere and a lot of fun for kids.

After walking around the world we went for another swim at the hotel and decided to stay in for dinner instead of head out. We ate at the POFQ food court again. I decided on the "make your own salad" again. I've got a major addiction to that! Again, I added chicken to the top and was bummed when they didn't toss it in a silver bowl for me. Still tasted good though.

Wheezy and Woody had a dinner with chicken (fried this time), ribs, beans, potatoes, and cornbread. Since the meals were so big we opted to have Jesse just share off of Woody and Wheezy's plate for the main course. For desserts Woody had begniets again, Wheezy had an ice cream shake, Jesse had a cupcake, and I had 2 scoops of ice cream which actually turned out to be 4 scoops somehow.

Jesse loved the cornbread, mashed potatoes, and beans. She ate a lot of the chicken too. Woody ate his ribs first on this meal and enjoyed them. Wheezy liked the chicken and ribs but not the beans/cornbread (which worked out well for Jesse!). Even sharing meals the boys had plenty to eat and Jesse wasn't stuck with more nuggets.

For dessert Wheezy thought the shake was a bit bland/runny. Woody LOVED the fried devils again. Jesse licked the icing off her cupcake and then was done. I ate some of the ice cream but that lady put 4 scoops in my 2 scoop bowl! It was a lot of ice cream!!! No way I could finish it.

We gave our POFQ dinner a rating of "F" on the U.F.O. scale. It was plentiful and good but nothing we would run back for.

This is seriously the BEST thread I have read today. Your pictures and reviews are amazing. Thank you for doing this.

I have seen people complaining about disney portions shrinking... but from the looks of your pics... there is plenty!

Did you do dinner at CRT??? I think you did and can't wait for the review...

New day! we decided we did want breakfast today so we went to POFQ cafe to grab something. I tried the western omelet (onion, green pepper, ham, cheese) with potatoes. Jesse and Woody had eggs, bacon, and applesauce. Wheezy tried the french toast with sausage.

IMG_3182.jpg
IMG_3180.jpg
IMG_3185.jpg

Omelet was actually very good! The potatoes tasted like they'd been sitting there a while but the omelet made up for it. Jesse and Woody's eggs were a bit runny today. you know how they feel abou that! Wheezy said the french toast was good. But guess what? The bacon was...FLOPPY!!!! Seriously by this time in the vacation we expect it to be floppy. We should have just had them take it off! All of those imagineers working for Disney and not one of them can fix the floppy bacon problem? To heck with the yeti being broken on Mt. Everest....FIX THE BACON!!!:rotfl2:

Again, we give an "F" to POFQ on the U.F.O. rating scale.

yep, CRT for dinner later...

Portions have shrunk at some establishments. The Main Street Bakery portion was very obviously smaller this time. But is it enough food? Yes! We were rarely hungry the entire trip. We didn't leave hungry from an establishment except at one restraunt: and I think you're gonna be sad at which one when I review it later....:sad1:

As for all the talk about whether or not I'm doing a injustice to my children by never offering them veggies/water/fruit--whatever... I was pretty upset by this talk this morning since it is way off in left field as to our normal habits. This is a vacation, and yes, our vacation eating habits are very lax. Our children do not have opportunities for sweets/desserts regularly and we don't restrict on vacation for this very reason. If you don't agree with or appreciate our food choices there is a simple solution: go read another thread, though I doubt you'll be seeing much of a difference in food choices.

This thread was intended to share pics/details of food ordered to help others make choices in their future vacations--not to debate healthy diets/lifestyle choices. I would love to continue sharing my families experiences if the thread can stay positive and on track with the original intent. Thanks to all of you who privately pm'd me offering kind words of support and to those of you who posted and tried to keep the thread positive.

Vacation is a vacation from the real world. For 300+ days you have to live in the real world. I believe that a vacation should be an escape from everyday life. If you want cupcakes at 9 am, go for it. When I take my niece and nephews, the sky is the limit. Eat whatever you want, whenever you want it. Life is too short to be so rigid on vacation. Great reviews, I look forward to more of them.

While we were eating breakfast we were discussing our plans for the day... we were supposed to go to Animal Kingdom and eat at yak n yeti for lunch but none of us really wanted to go to Animal Kingdom. Not our favorite park. We only planned on going for green man grandpa but our loyalty was starting to waver.... We decided to ditch the aliens and go to Epcot instead! :lmao: As we walked around we chose to try to get into either Rose and Crown, Via Napoli, or Chefs de France. We started in Canada and hit Rose and Crown first. They had an opening and we took it!

I had bangers and mash, leek soup with potatoes, and sticky toffee pudding cake
IMG_3215.jpg
IMG_3216.jpg
IMG_3221.jpg

The bangers and mash was pretty good. Seems weird to eat mashed potatoes, sausage, and krout but it worked! The leek soup with fried potatoes on top had to be one of my favorite dishes of the week. It was like a cream soup with fried goodness on top. warm and comforting. I LOVED the soup! The toffee cake/pudding thing was okay. Too rich to eat too much of it but I have never had anything like it before so I'm glad I tried.

Woody had steak and lemon pie. He also tasted some sort of English beer.
IMG_3207.jpg
IMG_3214.jpg
IMG_3220.jpg

Woody said the beer was a bit stronger than he'd like. The steak was good, veggies good, and loved the lemon pie. I snuck a bite of Wheezy's pie and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I wish I would have gotten it. It was the best tasting dessert of the entire trip. Lemon pie at Rose and Crown! you gotta get some!

Wheezy had Shepards pie and lemon pie
IMG_3217.jpg

This shepard's pie had lamb in it and I was concerned Wheezy wouldn't like it. He didn't seem to mind it. There is a vegeterian version if you aren't into lamb. The potatoes looked good on top too. It did NOT look overly greasy as I was expecting it to be. Wheezy LOVED the pie but was still generous enough to share it with me since mine was more of a dud.:goodvibes

Jesse had cheese pizza with apples/carrots/celery. she was also brought a make your own sundae which we weren't expecting since the apples were supposedly her dessert.
IMG_3212.jpg
IMG_3222.jpg

She got way more apples here than at other places. She liked that! Jesse ate some of the pizza and liked decorating her sundae. She didn't understand the lemon chips though. They were dehydrated and she wanted them to be mushy!:goodvibes I thought that was a nice change from nothing but chocolate sauce and sprinkles!

Kudos to Rose and Crown! We didn't even plan on going but it was a great meal! W give Rose and Crown a "U" on the U.F.O. scale for UNFORGETTABLE! Run, don't walk, to the Rose and Crown pub. It had my favorite dish of the week--Leek soup--and the best dessert--lemon pie--of the whole trip!

DD 8 has never eaten there and DD21 wants to go again.. LOL

Loving your reviews. Was thinking Steak and Lemon pie was a strange mixture, it was only when I saw the picture that I realised that they were separate..... :lmao:

Keep them coming x

This was our first experience with CRT and went for my DD4.

I agree, it WOULD be nice if the food were good there... but more on that later.;)

After taking the boat downtown that night we decided to eat at Earl of Sandwich for dinner. Not impressed with the service here AT ALL! There was no sign anywhere explaining what you got for your credit so we asked the lady at the register. She rambled some really fast explanation of a sandwich and then choose your side and then she flipped her hand sideways to the freezer case. Then she acted annoyed when we asked for clarification. Okay, here's the deal with Earl: You get a sandwich and ONE side item that is less than 1.99 in price. That one side item is your dessert if you choose. So you get a sandwich and a cheap dessert, or a sandwich and a cheap side. When I say "cheap side" I mean that they would only let you choose from the 1.99 and under sides, which included macaronni salad, jello, pudding, cupcake, cookie, or small bag of chips. The more expensive sides or desserts were NOT included in the dining plan at all (and I'm talking about sides or desserts that were 3 or 4 dollars...not 10!). You could not get a smoothie as a dessert, side, or drink. you couldn't get a lot of things! What a waste of a food credit! The sandwiches are only around 5 or 6 dollars each anyway! So you add a $2 side item and a $2 drink and they are capping your credit out at $10 meal max. What a waste of a credit! We went ahead and used them since we had them but I don't think we'll go in the future unless we pay OOP.

Wheezy had the cannonball sandwich with pudding (i didn't get a pic of the pudding)
IMG_3246.jpg

Woody had "the original" with a small bag of chips (no pic of chips...sorry)
IMG_3245.jpg

All sandwiches were toasted and warm. Jesses sandwich came with mayo, which wasn't indicated on the menu. She hates mayo... we did our best to scrape it off but she just picked at the meat. She saved the cupcake for a few days later.

All other sandwiches were okay. Not great. Just okay. Macaroni salad was just okay. chips were just okay. We weren't thrilled with dinner. Will we be back? Only if we're paying OOP and want a cheap meal!

We gave Earl of Sandwich an "O" for "only if its the last place to eat in the universe" for the unhelpfull employees, lack of good value for a dining credit, and just so-so food.

akhenaten--only 1 more review until I get to that CRT dinner review, aren't you excited???!!!;)
