Hello ~ I'm considering applying to DS in Square One. Are the hours flexible? What is the pay like? Thanks! Sandra

Hi Sandra,

My son's girlfriend has worked (and still does I think) at the Disney Store at Square One -- her major complaint was that she didn't get very many hours and some weeks didn't get any. Otherwise she seems to like it although she does have the usual complaints about some co-workers and a lot about the public!

Pay is about 25 or 50 cents over minimum wage to start.

I don't know if this has changed - you have to be available for a minimum of three shifts per week. A shift is generally 4 hours.

Hours are dependent upon the time of year and how busy the store is. More sales = more hours.

Im the Assistant Manager of the Square One Store. As of right now, we are in a hiring freeze but we will be able to hire (hopefully) in the next 2 weeks. We just need to get over this transition period. As for the hours, right now it isn't evry busy so the cast members in general will get anywhere from 5-10 hrs (plus call ins). However, we have our semi-annual sale starting soon, so the cast could get closer to 20hrs (if they want them). Like a previous poster posted, sales= hours. As for pay that is dependant on what your experience is. If your interested in applying PM me.

Hi,

Is it true that Disney is buying back these stores? Or has this already happened?

Lisa

It has happened already. Today is the first day that we are offically owned by Disney again. Actually, we were always owned by Disney but operated by TCP. Now we are owned and operated by the Mouse. Keeping our fingers crossed that we get all the amazing benefits again and it brings the magic back to the stores.

I might have talked to you a couple of days ago. I called your store enquiring about employment. I'll email, call or visit you in a couple of weeks when the pixie dust settles. Sandra

They haven't announced yet the perks to all the staff , other than the merchandise discount. There were some pretty amazing discounts back in the day for the CM's and we are all hoping they will be the same. Pretty much whatever discounts the CM's at the parks received, the Disney Store CM's received.

The only glitch in being a CM is that you have to work a minimum of 3 day a week.

Just wondering what kind of positions are there? Or are they all responsible for sales/cash/stocking?

I'd like to know too. Love the semi-annual sales!

The last 3 years we have gone to the world in July and August. I have picked up some great surprises for the kids at the Semi-Annual DS sale. It has been around the end of May....so about 3 weeks left to wait.

The semi- annual sale should start the last week of May, First week on June.
It generally means the store is all red stickered and we do an additional 25% off for the first two weeks.

When we start hiring again, we are going to be looking for Sales/ Cash. Everyone is taught to do everything. We will probably need another shipment person, soon too. This means being at the store at least two days a week at 6am.
