"To Disney & Beyond" ~ Road Trip 2010 ~ Final Drive & Final Thoughts

Continued...

After obtaining our treats, we headed off to find spots for the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade. While we were waiting, we met a really nice family from New York who was visiting WDW for the 1st time. The four-year-old girl was celebrating her birthday and we asked her mom if she could come up front with us, so that she would have a good viewing spot for the parade. The mom was ecstatic and thrilled that we had even offered. :goodvibes We loved the parade, but loved watching how excited the little girl would get even more. Cinderella, Snow White, and Mary Poppins yelled, "Happy Birthday" to her from their floats, and a couple more characters came over to interact with her. The girl and her mom were on cloud nine. :cloud9:

Here is a video clip of Snow White...if you look carefully, you can see her say "Happy Birthday" to the little girl!

Here are some of my parade pics...

After the parade, we decided to head back to our resort for a little break. On our way out, the wind had picked up and the poor "balloon guy" was having a bit of a struggle. However, it made for a cool picture!

We soon reached the buses and took our seats. A little girl was crying in her mom's arms and the father proceeded to tell us that they were leaving Disney because their trip was over. Chris and I then heard the girl say to her mother, "But I want to take Minnie home!" Without missing a beat, her mom said, "I don't have enough cheese to feed that mouse. Plus, Mickey would be lonely!" Chris and I chuckled to ourselves as we rode back to POFQ. What a great day so far! :goodvibes

Beautiful parade pictures and I love the story about the little girl wanting to take Minnie home....so cute! It all makes me so excited about our upcoming trip!!!

Thank you very much for the information on the tripod. Since we don't travel with our kids anymore its hard to pictures of the two of us. Never thought to get a tripod. Do you find it hard setting up with other people around?

Your parade pictures are amazing. You are very talented. That was very nice of you to let the little girl up front to watch the parade with you.

I have to agree with you about Big Thunder. It's my favorite ride. Always exciting.

We made a quick stop in Sir Mickey's after the 3-D flick.

so nice of you! we always do this, too, if we see a little kid that's behind us and needs a better view. one time we tried to be nice and the mom just scowled at us and told her daughter not to move. so much for everyone having the "disney" spirit! i felt bad for the little girl.

beauitful parade pictures! i forwarded this update to ray so he could see them. we got our DSL about a year ago and i'm itching to get back to disney to take some pictures like this!!!

Thank you very much for the information on the tripod. Since we don't travel with our kids anymore its hard to pictures of the two of us. Never thought to get a tripod. Do you find it hard setting up with other people around?
You're welcome! I guess I've gotten used to putting it up with people around, so it's no big deal. Plus, I've found that people seem to be pretty respectful in avoiding the tripod when our camera is on top! :thumbsup2

Your parade pictures are amazing. You are very talented. That was very nice of you to let the little girl up front to watch the parade with you.
Thanks so much, Cheryl! :flower3: I'd love to take a photography class in the future, but right now I just "play" with the settings on my camera! We LOVE to spread the magic...it's what Disney is all about! :yay:

I have to agree with you about Big Thunder. It's my favorite ride. Always exciting.

GREAT update (as usual), your pictures are AMAZING! I mean they really are all so awesome, I need to hire you to come be our photographer for our trip next month :rotfl:

So - I am obviously a late starter to your trip report - but am SO glad I found you as a responder to another trip post!!!

You have a way of making your trip everyone else's trip. I enjoyed Gatlinburg and even the travel report through GA. Since we are from Michigan also, (suburb of Detroit), we know this route quite well. The last time we drove down we decided to shake things up a bit and took WVA down through the Carolina's to GA to FL. It was a nice change and I always love driving through the Mountain Tunnel in Bluefield WVA.

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip report. :surfweb:

I do have one question - what type of camera are you using? The photo's you are capturing at marvelous - nice, clear, and in focus with crisp detail.

Magic Kingdom updates are always so much fun!

Lunch at the Pirate place looks very tasty! :thumbsup2 Too bad about the Jungle Cruise being down! That's something that doesn't happen very often!

Cute picture with Frontier Donald!

Mmmm, Dole Whips and a parade! A perfect way to spend the afternoon! You got some really great shots!

So cute about the little girl wanting to bring Minnie home! The mom's comment was too funny!

Your balloon guy.

Our balloon guy.

Funny that we posted the same guy within a couple of days on our reports. He's probably down there today making his way into other DIS pictures, too. :goodvibes We'll have to tell him he's semi-famous next time we see him.

I get tears when it is time to walk out of the Magic Kingdom for the last time, too. I want to bring Minnie home, as well, and Mickey and Goofy and Pluto and Donald.....

and most definitely - Naveen! :rotfl:

Fabulous update Lynne! Your parade pictures are great, I agree about the one with Mary Poppins - so good!

We've eaten at the Pirate Restaurant a couple of times and really liked it, too bad it's not open all the time.

I know exactly how that little girl on the bus felt, I want to cry on our last day most of the time too!
