To Dcl Staff

Suggestions for 18-21 year olds.

For sea days, maybe some kind of fun game, not as involved as the teen one (where my lipstick gets taken). Maybe something on the order of "Whose Line is it Anyway".

Some small group discussions with various members of the crew, what they do and what the experience is like for them.

A castaway beach volleyball tournment? 18-21 year old one on one at the sports deck?

Most important would be a "place" to hang. Someplace where people weren't questioning if they were old enough or too old to be there.

I'm sure my daughter would be happy to consult for Disney.:p

Dress code enforcement is fine the way it is.

I could not agree with your more! I dress appropriatley for the dining rooms, but I don't really care what anyone else is wearing! The "Dress Code" is recommended - not required. People need to pay more attention to themselves and their family and not worry about others...

1. Have designated smoking areas only and enforce them.

2. Leave the dress code alone. I dress according to the DCL "suggested" attire, but I personally don't care what anyone else wears.

3. Keep Dueling Pianos...they are the best entertainment on the ship.

4. Allow spa and Palo reservations in advance when final payment is made.

Keep up the great work.

Here's my stab at things:

1) The DCL staff was exceptional! They were friendly and helpful ALL THE TIME! When people ask me about the cruise that is the first thing I mention - keep it up!

2) I'd like to give special recognition to our server, Micha (on the Wonder), who was beyond great! We were so lucky!

3) It would be nice if you could make Palo's reservations ahead of time. I dont have the perfect solution on how, but it would be nice to get on board and not have to deal with those kinds of details.

It was not a relaxing way to start my vacation!

However, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the service at Palo's. Dont miss it!

4) Castaway Cay was the BEST! And another day there would have been wonderful. The day just seems to go by so fast and I dont feel we got to enjoy it to its fullest.

5) The Blue Lagoon Beach Excursion in Nassau is a total waste of time & money, and Disney should offer the dolphin swim in Nassau in addition to the encounter they offer now.

6) Dont leave phone messages the last night. I woke up in the wee hours of the morning with this flashing light on the phone in my face.

7) It seemed like a number of programs onboard were offered very close to the dinner hour or during the dinner hour/dinner show time. I feel like I missed some things I would have really liked to do. Bingo, Karoake, etc....

8) I dont understand the fuss about the dress code. We did abide by the rules, however, it just isnt that critical. I barely noticed what others were wearing. Perhaps this is harsh, but mind your own business.

All in all, we had a fabulous time! The ship is beautiful , the service the best in the industry and who wouldnt love a vacation with Mickey!

First off I am a two timer, once in the Western and once in the Eastern, loved both for different reasons. My suggestions for DCLs success is put a ship near every Disney Attraction. One in Disney Euro for the Med, one in Japan for the Orient and one in Anaheim for the West Coast. Once you are done spending the fortune you are making on this idea, I want free trips for my family and all Dis Board Friends for life, a bagain for this idea.

I loved the Eastern itnerary except they need to drop St. Maarten an use Aruba or another location. They have never been able to get back on their feet from the Hurricanes and its time for a change. Plus the stores close by 7pm, what is up with that. But please never, never, go to Ocho Rios, Jamica, another story for another time.

I think the dress codes they have now are fine, it is up to you on how you want to dress, and that is how it should be. And for the type A's we had no problem making reservations once we got on board at Palos and in fact there were several empty tables when we dined, so relax, it will all happen the way you want it. Remember you are on VACATION!!

I would like to see a 10 day itenary with at least 2 days at sea. My understanding is they are trying this around Thanksgiving.

Last, dont break the mold. You have a successful model here that we are willing to pay more for. Our happiness is directly related to how the kids are taken care of, the joy that brings to us through them makes the price worth it. The staff at DCL is the best in the world in service, I would like to bottle it up and give it to all my staff, then I could afford more cruises.

Now that's just exactly what they need - a few teenagers to actually get into the picture of making some changes for them on the ship!!! I can't imagine making decisions at my age (48) for that age group and certainly wouldn't even want to try!!!

Same thing with seniors - I certainly would not be able to make recommendations for the 65plus group - since Bingo is NOT in my Mom's Top Ten Things to Do List!!!! For that matter, she'd be more inclined to be active - last week she painted one of her bedrooms (this is the 74 year old woman who also climbs on her roof to clean out her gutters and dug a 25' trench in the rain to help with the drainage!) Yeah, that's my Mom!

Rae...You have your mom's spunk. As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Golfpin...I like your ideas, especially when you keep your DIS family in the same sentence.

They did it!!! Already five days magically dissapeared !!!;)

This is epcotgrl1 and i am 17 years old and i will be 18 on my next cruise. All i really want is a room that we could stay in. Like the teen club where no one from any other age group could go.

I mean what you have the 18 to 21 years olds do now? if you look at the navagater the have 1 yes could them 1 event that they can go to with people around there age. 1 singles meet for i think 21 to 24 year olds. And that is it.

Most of the time they find a group and walk around on the ship. What the 18 and 19 year olddo at night is go to the teen club dances. and they arnt always kicked out but most of the time they are. and then the teens get a talking to for the next dance.... only because the way the 18 to 19 year olds dance.

What i am trying to say is have a place for us to hang out... kinda like CG. where there is music, a TV some games and a few things to do durning the day. and dances at night! please. just for us. I hope that this helps a little.

thank you everyone so far for what you have posted. i hope the the DCL staff reads it

I, too, wish you could pre-book Palo's, etc. when you send in your deposit. I have been on 4 cruises, and I still can not book the high tea....I could try to book it 30 seconds after I board the ship, and I still seem to be locked out...maybe next time.

I think Disney should enforce the dress code. You run the gamut from prom dresses, suits, polo shirts, and t-shirts. What's up with that? I'm not advocating anyone renting a tux, but at least wear something appropriate for a nice dining experience. On one cruise, we saw hubby and wife wearing matching Harley Davidson tees to Tritons...If no dress code is going to be enforced, I'm just gonna wear my jammies and slippers, then.

Please change some of the island itineraries...how about Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Turks,Caicos- people are getting tired of Nassau - loved
Grand Caymans - Cozumel, so so...

I hate to say it, but the 18-21yo's are under-represented on the ship. I'm not sure what that group is looking for - maybe their own nightclub - actually, I do know what they want to do - DRINK!

I'll second that motion. Feel like I'm at a PTA meeting now. I would like to see the Magic doing different ports every now and then. Western, regular Eastern, different Eastern itinerary.. 3 rotations like that. What do you think?

Joanna

I so agree with you Mjasp - Too bad they couldn't rotate -
2 eastern itineraries a month with different places
2 western " "" " " " " " """"" " " " " " " " " " " " " " "

No one in my house wants to go on the cruise again (I do! I do!) because they want to try new places... Me, I'd be content with a stack of books, mags, a verandah chair, coffee, and just watch the sea, or lounge around CC...

In fact I think the perfect thing would be to have western one and western two, eastern one and eastern two.. (and a southern would make me absolutely in heaven)
Anyhow, have western one and eastern one be the regular, western two could skip key west and pick up jamacia,
eastern two could do Aruba, san juan, barbados or countless other ports.. I really want to keep on disney each year but I also want to see other places!

Sounds great Ann -

I'd sign up in a minute - Noticed that you're from MA - I'm in Beverly, MA -

Wasn't it great the RedSox killed the Yankees yesterday and today??!!

We have great ideas, now how do we get them implemented.

Since there is only one ship that does the 7 day itinerary, it shouldn't be too hard to do, should it?

Joanna

We are a football family (or correctly put I am a football widow who also looses her child as soon as preseason hits) so I don't know about the red sox,,, I can tell you the Dolphins are on a 1:00 today,, that is all I have heard about for a month! (they would move to miami if I said it was ok)

Did not read through the entire thread so I apologize if this has been mentioned already...but please set up some kind of shipping desk in the terminal so us shopaholics can ship our purchases home.

Since we normall fly in and out of MCO I really do limit what I purchase because I know a lot of it must be hand carried and the airlines are getting very strict about carry ons.

Just as you have the airlines come in and check bags, maybe Fed Ex, or UPS or even the US postal service could come to Port Canaveral when the ship is in port and accept packages for shipping.

I bet your sales in the shops would increase!!!!

Keep doing everything else they way you are doing them...we LOVE DCL and will be doing our 9th DCL cruise this month!!!

Dee Ann - I'm with you, girlfriend!
