To cruise or not to cruise

Having already made changes to my holiday twice since booking in July, I am now wondering about making a third. Should I add a 3 day cruise to the end of my holiday?

Is the hassle worth it for a three day cruise? Virgin cost is £500 each, but £360 if I book direct; also I will need to book an extra night at a hotel, either in Orlando or at Port Canaveral; make travel arrangements to get to Port Canaveral and from Port to Airport, as I don't intend driving, (maybe it would be cheaper to rent a car for a few days, but this would be a last resort); and I would need to change the flight home, and hope I can still get PE seats.

Am I getting a bit carried away, or should I "go for it"?

I am wondering where this is all going to end - bankruptcy maybe?

We changed our plans to include the 3 night cruise on the Wonder. We love cruising anyway but I decided that at the end of what was bound to be a hectuc fast paced holiday there could be nothing better than a relaxing cruise!

Lynn,

You sound a lot like me:( When I've made a booking I always seem to change it,amend it or add something :p I drive the TA mad;)

I have been toying with the idea of doibng the cruise during a holiday too,but haven't gone for it yet.Maybe I will in 2005:eek:

I am thinking you should go for it.While I have been toying with the idea of doing the cruise for a few years, firstly my eldest DS is not coming this October and my DD has said she doesn't want to go in 2005,that only leaves me,DH and DS.I so wish I'd done it when we could have all gone as a family:(

Thanks for your replies.

Cruising is my favourite type of holiday, so I know I would enjoy it, but not sure if it's worth the hassle for three days. Part of me wants to do it just in case I don't go back to Florida (first visit next year and I'm a nervous flyer - if I have a bad experience I probably won't be going back) - I would have hated to have missed the opportunity, but the other part of me would like to wait and maybe do a week on land and a week cruising another year.

I am tempted. Perhaps I'll ring travel agent and see if I can change flights first as it will mean coming back on a Sunday (busier?) rather than midweek.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

My fiance is an avid cruiser used to go all the time before I came along ;)

We added a 4-day on the Wonder in May at the end of our holiday and we thought it was fantastic and well worth the hassle just for the food itself which was out of this world.

I say do it - you know want to ;)

Thanks for your reply Sam,

I'm currently looking into all possibilities - now favour cutting short our week at the Universal end of Orlando, having spent the first week at ASMo, and taking a four day cruise. I will be ringing the travel agent later this morning. Dreams Unilimited seem a fair bit cheaper than Virgin for the cruise - just have to figure out best way to get to Port Canaveral, without driving hopefully.

Thanks again

Lynn

Just remember when comparing Dreams to Virgin prices...Virgin include tips that are as good as mandatory on a cruise - I don't have it in front of me right now but I seem to recall for the 4 day it's somewhere in the region of $90-$100 per person (inc children) - so you'll need to include that in your calculations :)

As for the original question....I'd do the cruise, well worth it! :)

definately go for it Lynne!:)
Its such a wonderful experience, we'd do it again in a flash!:Pinkbounc

Thanks for all your encouragement, as if I really need it.

Penny, thanks for the warning about gratuities - Dreams are currently quoting me approx £320, whereas Virgin's price is £545 -quite a saving!
