To Coral Reef or Not To Coral Reef..That is the Question

I don't have Coral Reef as one of my ADR's but I wondering if I should?
We are three adults DM-58, DF-58, DD-28
If you look at my ADR"S and have a suggestion let me know, I know Coral Reef now has crab legs, I hate them but Disney Parent love them and this is our first trip to WDW where we are actually eating on DDP and eating at the restaurants other that Counter service .

I have as follows:

Concourse Steakhouse
Maya Grill (as we are stayin at CSR)
Chef Mickey - DMom B-day Breakfast
1900 Park Fare - DMom B-daydinner
Whispering Canyon - dinner
Le Cellier - lunch
Crystal Palace - Breakfast
Tony's Town Square - MNSSHP Dinner
Planet Hollywood - Last Dinner & Nite at WDW

DD (8) and I LOVE Coral Reef, its an OK for Dh, DS (5) just doesnt care LOL. I think the ambience is worth a try

We had lunch at Coral Reef once and really enjoyed it, however for the price, we didn't enjoy it enough to go back again. There are just so many places we can eat at WDW that we absolutely love and when we weighed it all out we'd rather go to those places instead. Since your on DDP price isn't an issue for you, but then I guess it just comes down to whether using 2 TS credits is worth it or not.

We think the food is fair. As for the ambience -- it's one of those things that you can't do at home! So, for us it's worth it!

Digging in the forums, looks like it used to be 2 back in '05, but changed in '06.

When we went 2 years ago, my DH and I absolutely loved the place. We had the Swordfish and it was just out of this world. When we returned in June, they no longer had the swordfish on the menu, instead they had the mahi mahi, which was nothing like it. The atmosphere was still just as wonderful and our kids still loved their food (chicken strips ), plus we got to see Mickey in the fish tank diving which was I guess a rarety to see. For your question, I would say try it unless you are not a big fish or steak person. It is definately something to do at least once.

it's only 1 TS credit. I went their last week. tank was neat food was fine. (def. get the chocolate wave for dessert). I don't think I would go back. (too many other places to eat) but it was fine. Also liked Chef Mickey's and really liked the Concourse's food (thought their steak was better than the Coral Reef). hope this helps.

Crystal Palace was alot of fun too. Food was Fine (ate dinner) but the characters were great. Took a long time to bring refills on drinks. your adr sound good so I don't know if I would change the Coral Reef unless you just need to add another dinner. Heard LeCellier's great but could not get ressies when we went. Overall we were happy with almost everywhere we ate.

I loved it.. they steak was very good. We also had a diver with sign and a birthday cake for my sons b-day.

Ate there last week - 1 TS each. Food was very good (we did steak and pork chop), and our server was good as well. The wall of tanks is really cool to sit and enjoy your meal with. Only negative for me is.........was louder in there than I expected. I really felt like the whole tank thing would create a calm among guests. But then much of the noise was ill behaved children.

As far as your list I would try to add it, especially for adults. I would personally drop Chef Mickey, one of my biggest disappointments. Very kid like, bad food, rushed characters..........no plus for the place. Breakfast isn't the best value for your DDP either. Her birthday dinner sounds much better ! Did you order the chocolate slipper there ?

As for my ADR'S FOR Chef Mickey & Crystal Palace I am not using my DDP to pay for these as all my TS credits are spoken for.... ALSO I have never eaten at any of these restaurants ...so all these are a first for us .....

What chocolate slipper???? pls do tell!

I would do Coral Reef over Whispering Canyon in a second. Guess it depends on the atmosphere/food style you're looking for. DD4 loves the tanks, and we love the steak there...every time. Wouldn't go without the dining plan, though. Too expensive.

Sorry for my mistake. I hadn't checked it since DDP originally came out and I guess they have downgraded it from 2 TS credits to just 1. That being the case its much more worth it.

If you have never been to the Coral Reef, I would definitely recommend it because it's so amazing to dine with the aquarium surrounding you. The menu is very similar for lunch and dinner, but the lunch prices are more reasonable. The aquarium is the same any time of day, so why not save a few bucks? If you love watching the fish and divers, you should definitely go. The food is very delicious also.

Hmm, Coral Reef, we each cleaned our plates there, so that will tell you about the food (kid's apples and cheese pizza, bbq salmon, tilapia).

I get to pick a restaurant for our return trip and Coral Reef is definitely in the running. Mom has selected Boma and Dnephew (6yo) has picked Chef Mickey's.

We ate there for the first time on Sept. 2, and it ended up being our favorite meal the entire trip! Everyone in our party agreed that the steak, in our opinion anyway, was better than the ones we ate for dinner at Le Cellier a few days later.

I think everyone should go at least for the ambience and the spectacular views of the fish. The food was phenomenonal also.

And at one TS, I think it's definitely worth a try.

We ate there a few weeks ago. This was my favorite meal. It was the best steak I had all week. Plus the atomsphere is fantastic.

This is definitely a must do again for us.

We enjoyed Coral Reef. DH and I had steaks and my DS ordered the blackened catfish. I was surprised because he normally likes steak, but he said he never had catfish before and wanted to try it. He liked it, but it was a little too spicy for him, so he ended up eating half of my steak and I ate the rest of his catfish.

The only thing I didn't really like was the chocolate wave for dessert. Didn't like the brandied cherries.

The restaurrant itself is very pretty and peaceful.

Both myself and a co-worker each took our families this summer and we both found that Coral Reef gave us the best meal of the week.
My Mahi-Mahi with cous-cous was magnificent.
