For mother's day DD gave me a certificate (of her own making) to be able to make myself a couple of CD's with my favorite 70's songs. I am not a member of Napster but went to apple.com (itunes)and found a bunch of songs I absolutely love. DH and I met while in HS in 1975 so we both have wonderful memories of the era.

So here's the list I've put together. Anyone else think of any songs that really remind you of those years?

Also if you have another site you download from I'd like to look at it. These songs are 99 cents each. I'll let her pay $20 of it and I'll pay the rest. There were several songs I love that were not on itunes.

Songs not available at itunes

1970's, awwaahhh, yes, I was in HS!

I think of the BeeGee's (Jive Talking)

and

ABBA (Dancing Queen)

Also, the songs from the movie "GREASE", which came out in the late 70's... (Summer Lovin', etc.)

Band On The Run - Paul McCartney & Wings
Billy Don't Be a Hero - forget the artist
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Fooled Around and Fell in Love - forget the artist
Anything off the Fleetwood Mac Rumours album
Bennie & The Jets - Elton John
Half Breed or Dark Lady by Cher
Anything off the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack
Nice to Be With You = Gallery
Alone Again Naturally - Gilbert O'Sullivan
Delta Dawn - Helen Reddy

I could go on forever, I'm such a 70's music geek.:p

You selection doesn't head in this direction, but what about seventies soul music? "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder, "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye. There's also the more dance/disco area, stuff like "Lade Marmalade" by LaBelle and "Good Times" by Chic. Others to include would be songs by Earth, Wind and Fire, Donna Summer and Blondie.

By the way, the REO songs you picked are from the eighties. Their seventies stuff is much better, including "Roll with the Changes" and "Golden Country."

Great ideas! I used to have some of these on 8 tracks

Ok I need to add

1. Dancing Queen ABBA
2. Fooled around and fell in love
3. Something from Fleetwood Mac
4. Something from the Bee Gees
5. Nice to be with you
6. Something from Stevie Wonder

GG
DH is a hug McCartney fan so we have all the Wings albums. There was a double set (can't remember the name) that we listened too all the time...

Aw, you beat me to it! :p Don't leave that one out. So much of the Early Doobie Brothers, Early Eagles, Elton John and James Taylor. I'd have a hard time picking a short list. It would take days! :p

Another Leo Sayer hit: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing

And don't forget Donna Summer's: Last Dance

(I think every school dance ended with that song and the awkward transition from slow to fast dancing!)
