Ok I just spent an hour doing the double screen and catching up with all the news...and guess what it's gone!!!

ARRGGH

So I'm just going to say hi!

Anyways Happy Thanksgiving all. I'm off to make pumpkin pie...a friend who originally from Virginia has decided to cook us all dinner, so I guess turkey twice this year. :cloud9:

Happy Thanksgiving!
HI Bopsmom! Don't see you as much.
Turkey's in the oven...takes up the whole oven. I really would like a double oven. Since the built-in microwave doesn't work very well I'm working on getting a replacement in a year or so. :rolleyes1

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Just popping in quick. Turkey is in the oven and most of the other goodies are all prepared and just ready to be cooked. My mom should be here soon. DH has to go pick up my brother and his family soon.

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday. Stay safe everyone!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone enjoys their family dinners. We will be leaving to head out to my in-laws at 3:30PM.

Oh yeah, 1 more sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

Good evening! I'm sitting here with a cup of tea trying to relax and not be nervous about tomorrow.

Well, I think I have everything packed that I can. The only things that still need to be packed is the stuff that we have to use in the morning.(For some reason that sentence just doesn't sound right but I can't figure out if I'm suppose to use "is" or "are" :confused3)

Had a wonderful dinner at the in-laws. Did a good job of not stuffing myself too much. Bringing lots of TUMS for the ride as I'm sure we are all going to need it.;)

DS8 just went to bed and it won't be long until the rest of us follow. 2:30AM is going to come awfully fast!

Have good night and a good week. I'll see you when I get back!

Thanksgiving is done and over with and it went wonderfully. whgrn, I stuck to your advice about keeping track of cooking times and it worked perfectly. I am so glad I made that list. :goodvibes We ended up with 10 for dinner but we hardly had any leftovers. Not sure if I just shopped that well or if everyone just ate that much. I will say that my brother, who is usually very picky, had 2 plates of food.

So for all of you who offered such great advice.....THANK YOU!!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :grouphug:

Good morning all. Have a safe "BLACK FRIDAY".

I will try to keep you posted on Pikester.

Off to the Mall.

Chat later.

JO, I'm glad I could help, and so glad it all came out well! We have a TON of leftovers, since I bought a 20 pound turkey thinking we'd have 8 people, and also made potatoes in quantity fit for 8, but we only had . Also, I couldn't even finish ONE plate of food, and DS ate very little. The stuffing and apple pie seemed to be the biggest hits. My DB had FOUR servings of stuffing!

I sent home a bunch of stuff with DB, as mom will be staying with him for a couple days while Dad is away, so they can enjoy the leftovers. But we will be eating leftovers for days. I might actually freeze some of the sweet potato casserole. Don't know how that will work, but worth a try! Meanwhile, I'm having a bowl of mashed potatoes for breakfast!:lmao:

I will NOT be shopping today, or any day soon. I avoid it like the plague this time of year. The few things I still need I will get online. Dad announced last night that he wants a Snuggie!!!:rotfl2: Think I'll let Mom handle that one...she lives at WalMart anyway!

Hope you all have a great "day after'. Shop safely!

JOCAmom Glad your dinner went smoothly. :)
hi whgrn
Good luck to Sukie and all the othe BF shoppers.

DH is playing in a golf tournament. DD is working. I get the leftovers to myself. :cool2:

Yesterday morning got off to a rough start. I was running a little late because some of my cooking took a little longer than I allowed. DH decided to have a meltdown on me about how I had had plenty of time to get everything done and it really made him madder than he-- that we were going to be late. He obviously had no idea I wasn't going putting up with that sort of crap (a little PSM going on here ) since I had been in the kitchen all morning while I let everyone else sleep. I fired right back at him and in the end he was the one who apologized.... which he never does. As it turned out we were only about 15 minutes late and as usual several others trailed in even later than we were. Of course, we didn't miss the meal and nothing earth shattering resulted from us being a few minutes late.
Had a nice filling lunch in my BIL's new "banquet room". Wish I had took my camera so I could show ya'll just how beautiful their place is. We spent the majority of our afternoon outside in their 5 acres of landscaped gardens. We had perfect weather which was a total switch from last year when it snowed. One of DH's nieces had put together a program for the kids so everyone gathered outside to watch a little play about the first Thanksgiving. DD was a Pilgrim. She did great reading her lines and even had a little dance. DGS was one too but since he is only 4 he didn't have a speaking role but was still pretty darn cute.
After that, DH's other neice (the same one soliciting funds) had decided that some of us needed to go visit DH's brother in the nursing home. We had not been in a while so we offered to drive into FTW. When we got in the car DD finally told me that her shoes were hurting her feet. It looked like she was going to have some huge blisters.... just what we need right before our trip. Anyway, when we got there she and I stayed in the car while DH, DS, Dstep-D, DsonIL and DGS visited.
All in all it turned out to be a good day. It sure was nice to finally get home last night!

Gonna rest up today. Possibly, if DD has her way, I believe I will try to start on our packing. Looks like that is not a bad idea since I need to check her shoes and make sure she has something she can do all that walking in! 4 days to go!

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

Good evening ladies! My goodness but it has been a long day! We started with church this morning. Made a mad dash back home after the service to change clothes then set out again. Drove 45 minutes away to drop off our Operation Christmas shoes boxes. When we arrived no one was there. :scared1: Thank heavens someone showed up right before I started to panic. It was posted that they would be there 12:00-2:00. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they would have not left at least one person there since they were only going to be opened for 2 hours... but I guess I should just be happy that someone did show up. Anyhoo....

We stopped off for lunch at a Chinese place we had not been to in years. Food was only so-so. However, I must say I won the fat woman's dream fortune cookie lotto! "Be good to yourself. Dessert three times per week is OK." So there you have it! I have been granted permission by the fortune cookie gods to help myself! Three days a week is gonna be quite a nice allowance around here during a normal week. Of course, while I am at WDW I may have to cheat even a bit more over my recommended weekly allowance. That yummy looking Pumkin Torte looks like a good starter!

So anyway.... after lunch we made our way over to the gym to watch DS do some Jiu-Jitsu since we were already in town where the 3rd of DS's 4 schools is located. I much prefer our local classes! These classes are unfortunately in the same building as the cheerleading academy. :scared: I do not mean to offend anyone around here if you have a little cheerleader. I just mean to say that it is not all that much fun to watch if it is not your own little cheerleader you are watching and you end up spending 2 hours arguing with your whiny and persistent DD about why she cannot play on the equipment or go tumble with everyone else since we are not members of the place, only paid up for Jiu-Jitsu. It is good to take DS but next time DD and I will be staying home! Gotta say that I still do not understand the current dress codes that are allowed on children these days. Skimpy seems to be universally acceptable. I am pretty used to that but why would cheerleaders be wearing t-shirts which read "Maverick's Mafia"? Is that supposed to be funny or something? I just don't get.

We made it through that 2 hours. Grabbed some take out to bring home and finally made it home sometime around 7:00. As we were doing all that driving DS pointed out to me the fact that we are now down to single digits until our trip! :woohoo: 9 days baby! Boy, am I ready!

whgrn, sounds like a hectic morning at your house.

Pikester, you mean you only get complainers at your house every now and then? I think my DD is making it her life goal! And no fighting? You must be doing something right! Care to share your secret?

LITC, Walter is adorable! DD was here when I scrolled the page down and you should have heard the "Oh he's so cute!". What a beautiful little smile on that precious little face! Just makes your heart swell with love, doesn't it?

Hi DL55, D&D, and Sukie.

JOCAmom, I would love it if my DD would play hairdresser! No pictures, of course. It just feels so good to have someone else brush my hair. Weird, huh?
I am scaling back on decorations this year. Here's a bit of what I have done in previous years.
Here's my kitchen. Here's a few of my silly old blow molds and some of my Santas.

Thanks Marie, and those pictures are awesome!

WOW Marie!!!! You really go all out with the decorating!!!!!

JOCA, I am a minimalist, I guess. We put up the tree, hang our stockings, and I put out my Longaberger Christmas baskets. We also have some photos from past years that I put up. I used to put little red bows on the cupboard handles, but it's too much work these days. I do have a little stand up Santa who goes in the front hall, and some Christmas candles that go on the counter in the kitchen. That's really it. Don't have any pictures yet, but if I think of it, I'll take some on Friday when we decorate and post them here.

LITC, Walter is just too, too, too cute! Give that little man a kiss from his Auntie Wendy!

No kids today until 1 pm (half day, boohoohoo) But my friend is coming to take me to lunch at noon, so I won't be here when they get home. If they know what's good for them, they'll be out raking leaves when I return. I didnt' even get up this morning until they left.

My PT says I'm doing great. I'm a little stiff today, which I suspect means that rain is coming soon. Taking less pain medicine, which is good. I'll just be glad when I'm all healed and back to "normal". And when I can ride my new bike!

Only 32 days til Christmas!

Thanks Wendy, consider Walter kissed!!!

LITC I want to hug little Walter so bad. Please give him a hug for me. :cloud9:
whgrn Glad you're on the mend before you know it you'll be "normal". :goodvibes
JOCAmom I'll try to remember to take some pictures of our decorations. I don't believe I've ever bothered to take pictures. :confused3 We don't decorate as much as we did before. I used to set up a village but since we got the new cat I just don't want to bother trying to keep the little people from disappearing. I guess I'm just getting lazy. :guilty:

DL--Walter is hugged up good!!!!!!

I'm enjoying a nice quiet day off. Refusing to do much of anything. Kinda a mental health day.
My kids have been whining a lot too. I gave them a list of chores to do on Sat. and they complained the entire time. :sad2:
Disney seems to be doing much better. Hasn't had a seizure for 2 weeks. Eating seems back to normal and she's back to being a naughty pup. I wouldn't have it any other way.

LITC - Walter is just adorable. How can you put him down??? :lovestruc

Whgrn - Did you get that bike from Wal-mart? Glad things are progressing back to normal for you.

JOCA - Except for my inflatable, I don't have pics of my decorations. A few simple things I recommend are...
If you have a fireplace mantle, get some weighted Christmas stocking holders and hang your stockings. I also take a string of lighted garland and set that on the mantle too.
For the staircase, I wrap pine garland through the ballesters and put a few bows on. Really dresses it up.
In the windows I let the kids put up some snowflake clings and I put an electric flicker candle in each of our windows. Looks simple but pretty from the outside.
I got 2 small lighted trees last year on clearance and I put those on the front porch. Then hang a wreath on the door. Since the weather was nice this year I also wrapped our maple trees w/ some lights.
Then we just put up the tree.

Marie - Love your snowman collection and your Disney decorations.
Only 9 days left.

Pikester - Only 4 for you!!!!:jumping1: Are you getting any sleep???

Hi DL55! Hows the weather there????

D&D trust me Walter isn't put down all that often!! lol

Hi everyone! I lost my multiquotes when aol cut off. It does that now when someone trys to call me and I'm on the computer. I'll try and remember...

First of all...how can that little Walter get any cuter? Such a sweet smile! I did a loud OOOOHHHH! too. Such a day brightener. I know how we are going to get through this dreary winter weather now...LITC will just have to keep posting his cute little face for us.

I know Pikester---I'm so excited too. It is getting closer. I got clothes together at Mom's. My friend feels it will be cooler there than usual and suggested layers. She got cool at MVMCP.

You sound busy too Marie! You have a lot of cute Santas! I need to get rid of some of my stuff. I just don't have room for it all. I do snowmen. I don't have any pics on my computer though.

I went to the flower thing in April I think. I did post pics. It is very pretty. I think I liked the Food and Wine Festival just a s much. I guess I just like DW---except in the summer! Way tooooo hot!

I think the racecar village sounds great! I've seen a #20-Home Depot one. I'm sure Racetrack would love a #18 for her yard! But then I may just have to get my sling shot out! ;) I would love a snowman snow globe. If I were home more, I would probably have to have one! Having lights wrapped on all the branches can be very pretty. I just have a huge evergreen tree of some kind out front. I would need a crane to decorate it...sure it would cost big bucks to get it done...plus the elecrtic bill!

All this talk is pumping me up for the Osborne lights!

D&D---It was awful of you to publish food porn on here! Kitty's not here to drool! :rotfl: At least it won't spoil until she can see it! The crust looks yummy too...I did not go to the link...I got enough calories just looking at it!!!

Don't these kids know Christmas is coming? I thought they were always good the month before---so they will get better gifts!

Oh, I looked at Walter again...he just looks like he's trying to tell you how cute he is. There's a look of mischief in those eyes!

Oh yeah---Marie...it's vacation...calories don't count then!

M&N --thanks! We still can't get enough of him around here!

Dale Earnhardt Jr is my favorite. He hasn't done that good lately but then I don't pick favs because they are good---I've been a Phillies fan all my life!:rotfl: I rooted for Dale Sr so just went with his son when he started racing Busch. I think his career went off track when his Dad died and his stepmom took over DEI. I do root for other drivers too and boo a few too but that makes it

M&N --great choice of favs!!

I WIN! I just learned how to find out who has posted on our thread. And I've been the most annoying!

Thats cool, I probably wont remember though, lol!!

Everyone whose off to WDW, have fun for all of us! And be safe!

mariezp Glad to hear your DH came to his senses. If you're not helping, you can't complain. :p I hope you get DD's feet in shape it is a must to not have sore feet at WDW!

Thanks for posting that Kitty posted on FB! Glad she's ok!

Marie---great job getting that post count up! Keep up the good work. Glad you were able to straighten that DH out! They have no clue....

Sounds like a lot of good times were had on tday. My only regret is no leftovers...I need to find Whgrn's!

Glad to see some of you 'lower down on the post count' check in!

It's a blustery day here. I almost could have used my winter coat if I would have been outside much. I dropped mom off at the mall before 10...it was packed. I went to 2 craft stores and met a friend at the Christian book store. They had cards at half off but I wasn't that thrilled with their selection. I know they didn't have a s many as they usually do. I even went to Walmart...lot was crowded but didn't have to wait at the checkout. I guess businesses were doing ok today.

Hello ladies! Posting a quick hello before I go back and try to all I've missed.

First off, Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with lots of great food, minimal disasters, and lots of laughter. I was feeling kind of homesick thinking about missing the festivities.

Earlier this week I guested at a local school to talk about American Thanksgiving (I know you've already had yours, Ev). I hope I told the story right about Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving...anyway, I taught themthe trace your hand and make a turkey trick. They don't have turkeys here, so we had to make due with a large chicken concept.

No need to worry about me here. The terrible beheadings are in the southern part of the country and I'm in the middle. Its the beginningg of election season here and they're expecting the **** (Muslim Independent Liberation Front) to get more active, especially closer to Christmas. I'm heading to Manila on Tuesday and I'll have to be a little more careful there. There have been incidents in years past of bombing in malls and train stations. But it'll be okay.

I have entirely too much to bring back! I don't know how I'll do it. Did a lot of holiday shopping here.

I"m at the pool now, took my little cousins to enjoy the warm weather and the cool water. This afternoon, I'm heading back to the salon. I've been battling my hair. Since I cut it, the curls have gotten the best of me and I hate it. So I had my hair rebonded, which really just means straightened, which I like. But now I'm struggling with the color. I just don't feel comfortable in my natural soft black color. Trying to get back to a nice auburn. I do hope my hair doesn't fall out at this rate.

Sadly, I have my last spa appointment on Monday. I'm practically in love with my spa girl. I get a body scrub, foot spa, and oxygen facial once a week. I really think the oxygen facial is working! My skin feels tighter...although that may be sun damage. And the body scrub is just heavenly. WHile I do not enjoy the slow roast of the sauna, the wonderful scrub is worth the heated torture.

The house is coming along nicely, but slowly. I'm so tired of looking at tiles, wall colors, and roofing materials! Its been a good vacation overall though.

Ode to the mango: oh, how your delicate pale yellow skin belies your juicy goodness! How you sweet flesh is so wonderous to me in your juiciness and tropical delight! How I enjoy your many incarnations of mango pie, mango shake, and mango ice cream! How I will miss you so when I return stateside. In one week.

Much hugs and love to lovely ladies! The battery is running out of the laptop....

I'm home on a Fri pm for a change and I missed Kitty. It sounds like we won't recognise her next time!

Nothing new to post...have a great weekend.

Hi all. I hope everyone had a great Turkey day. 11/27- I heard from Pikester at 7:37am while I was shopping at the Mall. They were going over the Tappan Zee Bridge. 9:00pm- I was already in bed when she called the next time. DH was sleeping in the recliner when he thought he heard Stef's voice. He didn't realize it was the message machine. Hope to hear from her soon.

Keep you posted.

MagiKitty~ Mango colada? Be safe.

M&N~ I loved the Disney Quiz. How fun.
