Marie---hope you had a great dinner out. Is Dec 3 a Thurs? That's when I will be at EPCOT. Thanks for the vote of normal for me but many would not agree. I have never been married and many think that is strange. It's hard sometimes. But I can do many things that those with husbands cannot. I run my mom and friend's mom around. I can go to FL whenever I want to see my friends. I think it's going to get worse as I age though...no sibblings, no kids, and someday no parent to rely on. I am a firm believer that I am where God wants me so I need to be happy with that. When I look back thinking of the one I thought was THE one, I am sooo happy it did not happen!

Have a great weekend everyone...

M&N, one of my favorite sayings is, "I'd rather be alone for the right reasons than with someone for the wrong reason". So true. I could have saved myself ALOT of heartache if I hadn't married the moron I did. Then again, I wouldn't have my kids. But I have NO intention of marrying again, ever. I like the freedom I have to do what I want. Hey, we can grow old as independent old broads and have alot more fun!

whgrn, I hope your son feels better soon. I hate it so much when the kids get sick. My middle daughter stayed home from school today. She must have eaten something that really didn't agree with her. She never wants to stay home from school and when I asked her about it this morning and she said she did, I knew not to second guess her.

Thanks JOCA--he seems a bit better today but still has a nasty cough. at least he's eating, drinking and playing on the computer like normal. And no fever. Hope your DD feels better soon!

D&DDisney, my son used to play the game of "if I do a horrible job, stepmom will just do it herself" And I did for a long time. Now when he does that kind of stuff because he doesn't want to do chores, we just make him do it again. And again, and again till he does it the way it's suppose to be done. And he knows how to do it well just chooses not to. And that's most family chores with him. If you don't want to spend an hour doing the same chore, then do it right the first time. His choice....I just got tired of playing the game.

I DO NOT pick up after my kids, and DS is responsible for cleaning their toilet every day (he uses Clorox wipes). I have told them I am not their maid. They also have chores they are expected to do, and if they don't they lose priveleges. They are pretty good about it. They know I will NOT do it for them!

I was in denial for a little bit, but it's official, I too am a threadkiller. I even started one for FUN and killed it on the original post.:sad2:

any type of initiation rites? hazing? I'm willing to go thru whatever :worship:

WELCOME!!!!! Glad to have you with us! No initiation needed. Just jump in and have fun!

:welcome:
We'll go easy on the hazing. ;) You are required to kill at least one thread. Since you've done that already, you are in. :lmao:
Unlike JOCA who has yet to kill a thread or we will have to take away her TKer status. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Just Kidding.

hanutedmansionmomma - Looks like we might be at Disney at the same time??? We get there on the 16th.

Sooo cold! Soooo rainy! Make it stop!

Glad to see you've decided to hang around hanutedmansionmomma. We are a wonderful bunch here if I do say so myself! :goodvibes

My kids are responsible for keeping their rooms in order and I expect them to help around the house whenever I or DH asks them to. Everything else I take care of because I'm really picky about how I like things done. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye though when DS8 asks for help bringing the vaccume cleaner up to his room so he can vaccum. :thumbsup2

Have a good day!

Good afternoon ladies! I hope everyone has been having a lovely day. Just nice, quiet, and relaxing around here today.

D&D, I LOVE the WDW video. Very cute! I think it might just work to tide us over until our trip gets here.

Welcome, hanutedmansionmomma! I love your signature and the story behind your name. Sounds like something I would do! :rolleyes: Anyway, no need to feel bad about killing a thread anymore. You can wear it like a badge of honor with this bunch!

whgrn, I like your take on being single. Funny how after you have been through the ringer with a moron it makes being alone not seem bad at all!

Pikester, my rules of housekeeping for my kids sounds much like yours. Although, I may not be quite as picky. I just know I can get things done better and faster if I just do it myself. My DS is wonderful about doing something if I ask. DD on the other hand is just a natural complainer. My mom's theory was that I would be doing all of it soon enough when I became an adult and I guess that is the way I do tend to look at it so I don't worry too much about making them have lots of chores.

Hi JOCAmom, and Ev and anyone else I overlooked!

Oh yeah, this may be old news and some of you may have already seen it but I thought I would share it anyway, just in case. It cracked me up! If you have ever had trouble making your ADRs you will understand...

Hey Pikester, there's even a Park Hopper version for you!

Hello. I had a pretty uneventful day here. Just stayed around the house and relaxed. My oldest daughter went to see the new Toy Story movies today. She liked the movies but was highly annoyed at the prices of everything. She said a medium popcorn was 6.00 and a medium soda was 4.00. I think now she understands why we do not go to the movies too often.

hanutedmansionmomma.....WELCOME! I'm new around here too but everyone has been so wonderful. They even let me stay without officially killing any threads. I hope you'll come back and join us. Oh, and I love your signature line about your name.

I was watching the news this evening and I saw a story about the Philippines getting another horrible storm. They had a typhoon back in August and now they are getting hit with another one. Normally I send good thoughts and prayers to those in need but knowing that Magikitty's family is from there and has a home being constructed there I thought it would be a good idea for all us to send EXTRA BIG thoughts and prayers.

Pikester, I've been thinking about Kitty's family in the Phils too. I pray they are OK.

I had a busy day--baked chocolate chip cookies this morning for a party, then put on 2 crockpots of Chicken Tortilla Soup. Went to the party this afternoon, came home and packaged up the soup into 20 individual serving containers and 2 3-serving containers. Filling up the freezer! Now I am bored silly and am reduced to playing Farmville on Facebook. (but then, SOME of you already knew that!:lmao:) Such an exciting life I lead, playing virtual games on a Saturday night.

DS is feeling about the same. He skipped the party today, and says he doesn't want to go to church tomorrow. But he really does seem ok other than the cough. Guess we'll see. I already told him he WILL go to school Monday! I got a note home saying there are 2 cases of Chicken Pox in the Middle School. Why does it have to be now, 3 weeks before my knee surgery? If it was any other time, I'd tell DS to find out who the kids are so he can go have play dates and catch the pox! (he's not immune, DD is) With my luck, he'll come down with it the day before surgery. Ugh!

Oh, y'all will LOVE this! I got a letter in the mail today from the school district. Seems my kids are eligible for reduced price school lunches. (40 cents each). Only problem is, they're NOT! Someone messed up! I filled out the form (required, even though I dont' come close to qualifying!), and didn't want to list my income (none of their darn busines...) so, since the limit for a family of 3 was $33,587, I just wrote >$33,587. Duh, that means I make MORE than that! Well, somehow they must have gotten confused so we got approved for something we shouldn't have. Guess I'll be calling them on Monday. Good grief!

Well, I'm off to see if I have any new neighbors in Farmville. How pathetic am I??:rotfl2:

JOCAmom, I must live in the dark. I did not even know there was a new Toy Story movie coming out!

Pikester, we have a child we have sponsored in the Philippines for 9 years. From reading on their website it appears that he may be right in an area in the path of the storm. It said they had already evacuated 50,000 people. Ya'll please keep Joel in your prayers for me. I will be praying for his family and Kitty's too.

Wow, whgrn! I am impressed! That is a great way to do your cooking. I never think to plan that well in advance. I don't think your Saturday night sounds too bad. Actually, it sounds an awful lot like what I am doing!

Good morning folks. It's me "Sukie catch-up".

~~~Still reading~~~
I see that everyone has been really busy. With the new school year upon us, the kidos are busy too. What have I missed?
A new baby. :lovestruc
Birthdays. :thumbsup2
Anniversaries. :woohoo:
Vacations.:banana:
The comings and goings to WDW.
New friends jumping on board.:cheer2:
Still getting my "Cruise" TR ready. It is finally hunting season so DH will be out of my hair. His busy time is now till Dec. 12th.
Be back soon.
Morning Ladies:
Enjoying a quiet morning with my coffee..:surfweb: Kids are playing the Wii and DH is still sleeping (we work overtime last night)
As my FB friend heard, we are now the proud owners of an IPhone!! I have a BlackBerry through work and decided since I rarely use my cell we should get rid of it and save the $40/month...Great idea except he came home with the IPhone as a replacement so he could have a phone...yeah right he NEVER uses the cell! He said he need a new toy...guess he forgot about the 47" TV he got last week!! (OK I'm done ranting...MEN!?!?!)
Well, I'm off to see if I have any new neighbors in Farmville. How pathetic am I??:rotfl2:
I keep contemplating joining but I spend too much time on the computer as it is!!
MK ~ Hope your family in OK and not caught up in the flooding etc.
Hey Sukie ~ Nice to see you dropped by.
A quick Good Morning TKr's:goodvibes:goodvibes
I've had a busy week at work and haven't been on too much (more WDW money for me:yay:) and we've had company in since Friday afternoon.
They have all left now and it's a grey, rainy day-great book reading weather.
We will be watching the Texans on TV since I sold our tickets to friends.
I burned the crud out of my hand last night making beignets for DD and her friends-(note Don't use Hollow Handled tongs when dealing with hot oil)
The oil ran through the tongs in down my hand and arm-:scared1::sad1::sad2: I should have known better and of course DH and friends were at the sports bar. The girls were good at their first aid training! We had those Second Skin Gel burn pads in the house and they really, really work! I only have a couple of places that blistered where the burn pads didn't stay on well.
I hope everyone has a great Sunday. We start DD's confirmation classes next week so, it looks like I will be attending the early services from now on.
I blocked Mon-Thur next week so I will be on more often to keep up.
Hope MagicKitty is ok where she is.
:flower3::upsidedow
:welcome: to hanutedmansionmomma! Had to re read your name to catch the "oops". :laughing:
Been worrying about MagiKitty's family too. mariezp I hope your sponsored child is okay as well.
Bopsmom Ouch! :hug:
I wish DH's mom had tried harder to instill the clean gene into DH. :sick: :teacher:
Oh Bopsmom, poor you! I never heard of those burn pads before. Guess maybe I should get some for 'just in case'. Hope you heal quickly!
This morning I did the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a 4K walk and it was great! There were thousands of people there--it was a sea of pink! I will most definitely do it again next year. Thanks to those of you who donated to sponsor me. I raised $1075.!!!!
Tonite we are off to have dinner with my parents. DS is feeling much better--I suspect this has been just a nasty cold, which seems to be going around. Today the weather is beautiful and in the 70s. Supposed to be 65-70 all week, and only one day with a chance of rain. So hopefully that will help us all feel better! My sinuses have been doing the "mold dance"--ugh...
I've read that too and have been praying that her family and others are okay there in the Phils.
Good job on the soup. Such a good idea to freeze for later! :thumbsup2
You are such an honest person. Other people would've taken the money and run. I know families like this who are getting help just because they "creatively" filled out the forms. :sad2: So sad because then someone who truly need it don't get it. Koodos to you!
:rotfl2: So like a man to forget his other toys. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Kinda like my kids.
AI burned the crud out of my hand last night making beignets for DD and her friends-(note Don't use Hollow Handled tongs when dealing with hot oil)
OUCH!!!! :eek: How painful!!!!! Glad to know the Second Skin stuff helped. But still OUCH!!!!!! :eek:
Hi Sukie!! Nice to have you check in. :wave2:
Hi DL55!!!!:wave2:
I hope I didn't offend anyone cuz this probably isn't the polically correct thing to say but...
On my FB page I posted that I am tired of seeing all the PINK everywhere. Please don't get me wrong. I whole-heartedly support the Breast Cancer cause and Whgrn did a wonderful walk to support it too. :thumbsup2 I have 4 friends who are currently living with or have beaten BC and 2 close friends who have died from Ovarian Cancer. I support them or their families every year for the walk and for other fund raising activities.
I have just been a little tired of seeing everything PINK lately. Anyone else???
All the food, newspaper ads, bags, containers, clothes and even the football players are sporting pink and it just seems like too much in your face kind of advertising. :sad2: I think you can get the point across to support the cause w/o all the pink items.
Feel like Kramer on that Seinfeld episode where he supported the AIDS fund but didn't want to wear the ribbon. :laughing:
thanks for the welcomes everyone :)
I heard the football players are wearing pink too:lovestruc
I too did the walk in my city, and think it's a great cause, but yes, sometimes things are overdone a bit.
My DD walked w/ me and said she would run it (rather than walk) when she knows someone who has Breast Cancer. My goal is that she'll always only walk!!:thumbsup2
Now, when they have lime green month for disney, that's another story...;)
This was a timely post. I went grocery shopping tonight and while walking down the asle that has the kitchen scrubbers, sponges and stuff I saw a display of pink scrubbers and brushes. :upsidedow
Ev, you better keep an eye on your DH. Don't be surprised if you next find him shopping at the iTunes store! Mine has been browsing there pretty regular. He did let me add a WDW application. I need to go look for some more of those! Anybody got any good suggestions? My DS doesn't like anything Apple so he calls DH's phone the "evil I phone". :laughing:
Yowser Bopsmom! That hurt just hearing about it! I hope your boo-boo is feeling much better now.
whgrn and hanutedmansionmomma great job supporting the cause!
Hi Sukie, DL55, D&D & Pikester!
Bops ~ OUCH!!!! Hope it's better soon.
Oh we've found that...that's how we got the wonderful app that make farting noises!! I also got informed that it's not an IPhone but an iPhone!! sheesh!
It's beautiful and sunny here today so I may get a few chores done in the yard...or maybe I'll just goof off on the computer...Wendy seems hooked on Farmville...I might have to give it a try.
