Yesterday was my first day at the new job. Was so exhausted when I got home. The kids don't come back until 8/31 but there is so much for me to learn before then. The principal I am working with is kinda absent minded, (but very nice I will add). So I was told I need to kinda help him along by checking his emails each day and reminding him of appointments, doing his typing, etc. :rolleyes:Wait a minute!!! What am I? His mother now??? Anyway, I am a little upset that now they bring this up. I am hoping to teach him how to read his own emails and use the computer a little more proficiently, so that I can get my work done in the PT 3 days that I will be there.
Oh, and they said that most of the time the internet is down so neither the students or myself will have access to it. In this day and age honey, you need the internet to send all those forms you want me to type for the state. And, God help the kids who need it to do their work. Maybe I need some IT classes to go along with my Spanish.
:sad2:This may be a long year.

On the topic of comfort foods...mine is a nice hot bowl of chicken soup with that fresh bread & butter that makes Bopsmom so heavy a crane has to lift her. I had a bowl of this delicious soup yesterday for lunch. The principal took me to lunch at a place called Soup Otsie (like the Seinfeld take off of Soup Nazi). The did make the best chicken dumpling soup I ever tasted. Mmmmmm!

Wendy, glad to hear you and the family are settling in for your stay in Philly. Did DSis manage to switch her ticket to PHL? Glad to hear he's comfortable and what a surprise about the food! What about you? How are you? and tell us your dirty little secret...what's your comfort food? Mine are definitely baked goods, either cakes or cupcakes. I love a little frosting.

DSis is coming tomorrow!!!! YAY! Don't know what time she will arrive, but she's coming!:cool1:

OK, my dirty little secret: comfort food is pretty much anything I should NOT be eating!!! Mostly carbs--breads, sweets, etc. For instance, I rarely eat sandwiches, but I've been living on them lately. Yesterday I actually ate PORK ROLL!! Haven't done that in eons--at least 10 or 15 years! And of course, chocolate. DD gave me a bag of York Peppermint Patties (the mini ones). You all KNOW how I love my PPs! Well, with a little help from Mom, they are nearly gone!:scared1:

Soundls like you are in for quite a year! And the lack of internet access is appalling! That needs to be remedied--it IS 2009, for pete's sake!

Off to pack the car so we can check out and go see Daddy. We are sleeping at my house tonite, thank God. I miss my bed! Then we will come back down tomorrow and stay over again.

This is why you need to learn the curse words first!!:lmao:

I HATE helpless men!:sad2:Especially when it's 'learned-helplessness'-use that word on him!:rolleyes1
He must be used to having one of those secretaries that babied him and coddled him. I've seen a few that acted more posssesive than the wife. Granted some academics are 'nutty professors' but that usually only happens in the University setting. Lower school principals usually have their 'stuff' together to reach that level so this just seems like laziness.

It sucks when the computers are down.
Many of the teachers are so dependent on them. DD's school uses Smart Boards so if the computer is down they only have a very small white board to write on.....and their plans are usually online with the textbooks.

Okay...teach me some. :rotfl2: Through email of corse. ;)

The lady that was VP before me was older and therefore had no problems catering to his every need. I have no problem doing paperwork. I don't mind it a bit. I will not, however, become a "mother" to my employer. I prefer a more professional attitude. :snooty:

M&N good for you on the weight loss. :thumbsup2
whgrn Hope everything goes well with your dad. :flower3:
D&DDisney At least you have experience as a mother.

We are going to be in Vancouver two days. Plant to see Stanley Park and the aquarium. (DH loves aquariums) Our cruise leaves Monday. Its the only ship that day so at least it shouldn't be a mad house. DH has been checking the weather. it should be in the 60s, partly cloudy. A nice change for us. I expect it to rain on our trip. Everyone who has gone earlier in the year has reported wonderful weather. So that means it's going to be wet for us. :rotfl2: Still intimidated by the packing. It's sooo much easier for the Caribbean, just shorts and lightweight tops.

DL55 - Do you have to bring along formal attire too? Does the ship have specific dress codes for dinner, etc?

D&DDisney Yes there are 2 formal nights. But men can wear suits which is what DH wears. I wear a glittery top and a long skirt. My outfit doesn't take up much space. I wish I could wear a dress but my chest is so large everything just hangs. The other nights are resort casual. DH wears slacks and a polo shirt. I wear nice slacks and a top or a knit dress (stretched a bit but doesn't hang so badly). There's reason why I wear large T-shirts. Wish I could look good in my clothes but I don't want to have them custom made.

Hey TK'ers, DH's computer gets our local news Alerts, just came over that a stunt person at Disney was just killed. He was working the Indiana Jones show. How horrible, and apparently there was another worker killed a few weeks ago who fell working the Capt. Jack Pirate tutorial ( I don't know anything about that show).

I'm catching up from the weekend. Glad there was some good news. I'm still in tears about Racer---can't help it. She's such a caring person. But of course, the mods don't care about that...all the emotional support and help she's given each of us. If we would have needed being put down a peg, she would have done that too! :rotfl: I just feel like a friend has died...can't help it.

And NO Jimmie Johnson fan (even though he is a little better than Kyle) is going to make up for her loss...If anyone wants to help, they need to say what a great driver Dale Jr--#88--is. But that's only going to make me smile and not take away the missing.

Kitty---yes, you are spoiled but in a good way. How can anyone not want to let you have things that make you happy? You are such a giving person...people cannot help wanting to give back to you.

HI to everyone else too...don't want to be accused of ignoring anyone...we need to stick together...

Hmm, M&N thoses sound like fighting words to me, your not going hear me :worship:the JR.:rotfl2::rotfl:
Kitty:thumbsup2, I agree with M&N:goodvibes.

News---braging time! You will just have to suffer since I don't have racer here anymore-- I was FIRST in the NASCAR picks thread! I was soooo surprised. I'm actually in 29th place for the year. I think I've had only 4 top 5 finishes out of 20 races. I just got lucky. Actually, I did pick my #88 and he came up the last several laps to finish in 3rd. I guess my others must have done ok too. What really helped was I didn't pick Jimmie Johnson. He was leading with about 3 laps to go and ran out of gas and finished around 30th. He's a good racer and a lot must have picked him so he hurt their score.
And Whgrn will understand this for sure---I lost 11 lbs in 2 months! That's the rate they want me to go. But I will blow it some when I go to Shady Maple on Thursday. I'll probably have 2 days worth of carbs in 1 meal but I don't care. I will not do desserts like I usually do but I am going to enjoy it.

Congrat's on winning your pool you could leave your ;) jimmie comments out:laughing:, poor Jimmie:sad2:.
Congrats on the weight loss you go girl:cheer2:.

Yay M&N!!! Good for you!

Down here in Filthydelphia (that's what Dad calls it!) The hotel is nothing fancy but it's clean, the beds are comfy, and its across the street from the hospital. Dad is settled into his room. It's much nicer and the food is better than where he was. But he won't get any food tomorrow or most of Wednesday, since he is having the aspirin protocol tomorrow and the stent Wednesday. Looks like he will be here until Friday or Saturday. Not fun, but as long as he does well and comes home we will deal with it.

DSis will be home Wednesday or Thursday. I can't wait.

I have to stop eating comfort food. Otherwise I am going to FIND the weight M&N has lost!

Hi, Wendy glad to hear Dad is settling in okay and Sis will be in soon. Was she able to fly into Philly? Well clean is always a plus and a comfy bed:thumbsup2.

Good morning dear friends! Another hot one here today. Honestly, I don't really mind too much. Makes you really appreciate outdoors and how wonderful the sun feels on your skin. Just not too long though!

Looking ahead, was thinking of maybe in a few months, in the fall sometime, of taking older nephew down to Lancaster county. He and I were both really interested in going visiting, and given his situation this semester, maybe we'll be able to swing a quick trip there sometime! Maybe October for a day or two. We'll see.

Let's have a good day everyone! Stay hydrated and enjoy some of the wonderful summer fruit out there! Grapes are on sale at the store this week, I'll be heading over there for some....hugs!

Hi, Kitty enjoy your day. That would be a nice fall trip w/your nephew!

Good Job Pepper! I am so proud of you. Imagine, one of our TKers publishing a book one day. Wow! I am an inspired smart $%^.

What in the world is BMG tix???? sounds like a great deal but don't know what it is.

on doing well w/ NASCAR pics this week! I was so mad that I didn't pick Jr this week. Was going to but at the last minute chose Newman. Why does he always do well the weeks I don't pick him???
on losing 11lbs. That's great!!! You go girl!!!!

Disney54us - You are going a remarkable job keeping our page count up. :thumbsup2Thanks! Now you just need to stay up late w/ M&N so she's not alone.

Hello, Ev, LITC, Bopsmom, Whgrn, and everyone else checking in.

Hey I was going to ask the same thing what is a BMG ticket??????
Oh and I forgot to also tell pepper that we all expect a book signing party:laughing:. Nascar, its just your karma:rotfl: (just kidding) sort of picking the bank drive up line and ending up in the one that takes the longest.

Yesterday was my first day at the new job. Was so exhausted when I got home. The kids don't come back until 8/31 but there is so much for me to learn before then. :confused3does sound like it could be a long year. Hopefully it will get better and you will teach the Principal how to take care of himself.

Okay...teach me some. :rotfl2: Through email of corse. ;)

DL55...I'm chesty too. I'm totally about the skirt and top combo myself, or else empire waists to attempt to define some shape I have. The formal nights sound so fun! Its not often you get to dress up all fancy. I miss Vancouver! It will be so beautiful when you're there. If you have some time, try to visit Granville Island, such a cool market with lots of quirky artsy stuff.

D&D...congrats on starting the new job! I don't understand why the Internet is so iffy at a school, but then again you won't have much email to check that way! Sorry that you'll be attending to the principal that way, maybe its just a starter period, where they assess your abilities? At least you'll know the finer stuff if you have to fill in. But quickly establish your own agenda and no one else's.

Oops. forgot to add. BMG=Blue Man Group at Universal. Its three bald blue latex head men using multi-media to astound, entertain, amaze, and comment on various social issues in an amusing way. Truly awesome.

Morning Ladies:

Can't add much to hockey either...don't watch it much anymore since my Dad died...he was a diehard Leafs fan so we had to watch every game. Now I rarely catch a game unless its the playoffs. Is your tag new, or have I just been braindead and not noticed??

Hi MK- how are you this morning? Hope your nephew is doing good? BMG sounds like fun!

Better go and tackle the laundry

ttyl
I don't really watch it, use to long long ago. But DH has it on every Sat. night and in between:confused3.

Disney54us - You are going a remarkable job keeping our page count up. :thumbsup2Thanks! Now you just need to stay up late w/ M&N so she's not alone.

Hello, Ev, LITC, Bopsmom, Whgrn, and everyone else checking in.

Hey I'm trying but can't always keep that midnight oil burning:laughing: Plus then she would want me to worship Jr:rotfl::lmao:.

Wendy, Hope all goes well with your dad this week.
If you start to worry about eating too much you can always 'walk' the halls at the hospital.

MMMMMM....Comfort food.....bread-sourdough:love: especially! I blame my DM for this because growing up she baked THE BEST french bread every Sunday.
I love bread and butter with a glass of milk.
I can tell if DH has been to Pannera the second he walks in-I can smell it on him. It is hard to find a good substitute for it too! Low Fat/Low Card stuff tastes terrible. I have given away 3 bread machines people have given me as gifts because, it would take a crane to get me up if I had access to fresh baked bread daily.

Hockey! DD loves hockey that and MX wrestling-go figure?

Hope everyone has a good day. Back to :laundy: for me too.
That is a cross Hockey and MX wrestling:confused3. Happy Laundry Day!

:woohoo:sounding exciting!

Gotta say that I sure miss Racer. Don't know if it is just coincidence or what but since her banning it appears to have brought the troops out in record numbers lately. Must be time to band together.

MagiKitty, glad to hear that your DN is still improving. Also nice that you have been able to get back to thinking about your trip. Yay for BF coming through again and being a great guy letting you go to both BMG and Cirque! We are not that cultured around here. I have been entertaining my son this morning with you tube videos of "Whose line is it anyway?".
I don't think you are mean looking Kitty! It sounds like we have a few people around here that fit into the same category when it comes to meeting people/making friends. I don't think I have ever considered myself shy but I am not very outgoing and don't tend to seek people out and start a conversation. I can talk your ear off once you get me started though. Bopsmom, I don't talk much to my neighbors either. When I do it is usually because they want something. :sad2:

So you are a shy girl too, M&N? Here's hoping one of us can start a conversation if we get the chance to meet at WDW!
What diet are you on? I would love to lose 11 pounds.. and then some! Congrats to you!
why is so much of the good stuff so bad for you?
I have wondered that very same thing many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many times! Evil, Evil scales! Can't say as I have a specific comfort food but chocolate does work pretty well for me.

whgrn, it sounds like dad's hospital is an improvement. Glad you are getting time to spend with your sister. :thumbsup2

Pikester, I have never backed into anything...yet... Isn't it nice when a DH comes through for you and doesn't blow his top when you think they might. Hope you have fun on your trip.

BKMETV, The Vial of Life and Ice are both great tips. Thanks. Now I just have to put them to use!

pepperw23, Good for you for getting back to your writing!

LITC, how exciting! You are getting really close to your due date! Sorry to hear that you are not feeling very well through the last part.

disney54us, wish I had an answer for the removal of your morning glory's. I know DH tells stories of way back when he was a kid and how he had to try to keep them hoed. Silly me, I actually buy seeds to plant them. Apparently my "green thumb" is very successful at killing them.
That is horrible about the Indiana Jones show accident. I did hear about the Capt. Jack Pirate tutorial a while back. It sounds like Disney better do some stepping up on their training or they will end up with so many lawsuits we may not have any parks to visit.

DL55, I don't think packing is half as bad as having to catch up with all the laundry when you get home, besides that you wouldn't walk to be naked on a cruise to Alaska. You might get frost bite! Now get that packing done!

D&DDisney, Yay for making it through the first day. I hope you are able to whip them into shape!
727_smiley_whipping_a_whip.gif
Wish I had some Spanish to teach you but I have to confess that most of the few words I know are probably the kind Bopsmom was talking about.

I had a strange phone conversation last night. You may remember me mentioning that an old friend of mine had contacted me on Facebook a while back. (She lives in Filthydelphia, whgrn. ) Well she called and we did a little catching up. 30 years later makes you sound a lot different on the phone but not only that... I think she was drunk. I suppose it was possible that we just had a bad connection but her speech seemed somewhat slurred and she would ask me a question and then start talking before I had a chance to finish my response. Apparently she had just broken up with her boyfriend. She didn't really go into detail but she did mention she had posted on FB. When I read it later it really seemed like a bit of belligerent ranting that didn't make much sense to me. Anyway, the phone call didn't leave me feeling all "warm and fuzzy" but more like "what was that all about"? :confused3

Your right TK'ers STRONG & UNITED!
Well your more then welcome to my morning glory's..... I have plenty to spare:confused3:rotfl2:
Maybe it was her accents:laughing:. well you know what they say about a women scorned;).

Marie, that is just too weird. My BFF from college just reconnected with me on FB. We haven't spoke in years, and we did NOT part on good terms. I figure, what the heck? We're different people now, it may work. It was a good try though. I composed a long private message to her that just got lost somewhere...is it a sign?

Regardless, you're a good person for giving a friend an ear and a shoulder to cry on during her need. And at least she was drunk-dialing you and not the ex-boyfriend, which is never a good idea.

Nascar, its just your karma:rotfl: (just kidding) sort of picking the bank drive up line and ending up in the one that takes the longest.
Wow Disney54us. I am seeing a spunky side to you now. You are the new Racer!:rotfl2:

Why is it when you catch up w/ old aquintances/friends who you think may have changed now that they grew up - really haven't grown up or changed???

Kitty, maybe that is a sign. :confused3

Isn't it weird how the people that you thought were your very best friends in school didn't all end up being? In my conversation last night I do have to say that I enjoyed when my friend asked me about a girl that was supposed to be one of my BF off and on all my life. She was laughing about how this girl always tried so hard to be just like the popular girls. It was refreshing to know that someone else besides me had noticed. To this day said ex-BF is such a fake and only sucks up to people she thinks are "something special". I never speak to her anymore but I have stayed in contact with her little sister for more than 30 years now.

On the flip side, my DD asked me just yesterday if you could end up being friends with people who started out as your enemy. I did have to tell her yes seeing as how I did exactly that with one of my rivals. She stole my first serious boyfriend. When neither of us had him anymore we found out that we really had a lot in common and he wasn't really worth all the fuss after all.

So Kitty, what are your dates for WDW? I was reading where the Night of Joy acts and show times were released for September 11 and 12. They have some good bands that I would love to see. Kutless, MercyMe, Jars of Clay and especially Newsboys.

Just read more about the Pirate show performer accident. It doesn't appear that it was due to a lack of training but more like a freak accident and then the poor guy had a heart attack. Not sure what happened with the most recent Indy performer.
As I read a little further down the Mouseplanet update I found this one: "Pennsylvania man convicted of groping Minnie Mouse". There are some really sick people in this world!

Sadly, I know I haven't changed very much over the years! I don't really know what I'm expecting from her. I would have preferred just going on my merry way, but now that the can of worms has been opened, I guess I'll just figure this out as we go along. Our problem was not really with each other, I had a serious problem with her boyfriend-now husband. We spent a disasterous Thanksgiving with her family many years ago and I just felt he was so not good for her. I guess it really wasn't for me to judge, but I hated the way he treated/spoke to her and told her so. So I guess its largely my fault, I should have kept my big mouth shut.

Marie, my dates are Sept 26-Oct 7, so we'll miss Night of Joy. There is Eat to the Beat at EPCOT due to F&W, so I'm planning on seeing Starship, En Vogue, and Richard Marx. BF is really complacent with everything we do, and I'm sure he'll be fine to spend sometime sitting somewhere!

I read about the CM who died. What is going on right now? First, the monorail accident in July. Then the pirate CM, and now the CM from Indiana Jones. I just feel bad for all their families.

I'm going to try this...I have 2 windows open...one to type the reply and one to see what to reply to...so if I mess up, I think it's Marie's fault. I think she's the one who said she does this.

D&D: I was surprised I actually picked Jr too. I thought I had made him a spare. He has disappointed me so much but I figured I was in 29th place anyway so I might as well pick him. You can continue to not pick him if you want...;)

Bopsmom: BREAD! You said a yummy word but boy the carbs! I just love Panera Bread too. My fav combo there is smokehouse turkey and a chicken and wild rice soup. But I found out that rice is awful in carbs so I guess I'll have to find another soup.

D&D: I know you will have that man whipped into shape soon. Just remember you just started and things need to be organized to your standards. You just show him you are not a dumb blond! How many days do you have to work this year? Maybe you need a ticker! Do you have anyone in charge of technology? We had our signals come through the air at one point from school to school and they discovered the trees had grown and interfered with the reception.

Whgrn: I promise not to let you find my lost pounds! These are the ones I have lost and found and expanded on the last 35 years! PP are not bad for you. They are low fat...the secret is you should not eat the entire bag yourself...and I see you are sharing. ::yes:: Glad your DSis is getting there
with you.

DL55: Have a terrific time. I guess you just need layers for your trip. I always think long skirts and fancy tops are very neat looking. My body isn't the same sizes for outfits to be bought together. I need separates too. I hope you are planning on sharing some pics with us. I would love to go to where the totem poles and villages are. I love to see snow covered mountains.

Disney54us: It's not that I think Jr is the only racer out there. I root for others too. I just do not like Kyle Busch at all! There are many reasons. I also think Jimmie is a little too :snooty:. He's won enough. Don't go poor Jimmie to me...he's definitely not poor! I don't think sports are fun if you don't have rivals going at each other. You need someone to boo! And I agree with you about the karma---I usually manage to pick the shortest grocery line and get out after those in the longest...in racing the fastest does not always win. I believe, many times they have other things go wrong. Many times the racers are interviewed after a crash and say "I had a top 5 car"---evidently they didn't really. :rotfl2: And as for the wordhip Jr sentence...Racer sure didn't...:car:

Marie: Your dd is very wise in her thinking to even ask about enemies and friends. I think my post worked out ok. Thanks for the idea. When I multiquoted so many, I usually deleted the quote and had trouble finding the place for me to type.

It's getting dark...need to turn on light.

Gotta watch Hells Kitchen and Big Brother tonight.

OOOH! M&N....Big Brother is going to be so so juicy tonight! I can't wait!

Regardless, you're a good person for giving a friend an ear and a shoulder to cry on during her need. And at least she was drunk-dialing you and not the ex-boyfriend, which is never a good idea.

Sometimes it is just best to leave the past in the past. It is sorta nice to reconnect w/people at the same time sometimes we need to realize that That was then, this is now and this is the life that I live. I would say I have a love/hate thing w/FB. It is quick and easy enough to pop on see what is going on with friends. The only friend I have from some years ago is a girl who found me on there that use to work for me. We were friends so it was nice to reconnect. The rest of my 'friends' are people who currently in my life. Some use it for a blast from the past type of thing. That can be nice but I see some who act as if in the past 20-30 years there life has not gone on. That I find a little pathetic. Of course we need to rember that we don't have to click the accept when we get a friend request.
Yeah marie better you then the ex boyfriend, so you did a good deed:goodvibes.

Oh....I get it. Sorry I didn't pick up on the acronim.

Wow Disney54us. I am seeing a spunky side to you now. You are the new Racer!:rotfl2:

Why is it when you catch up w/ old aquintances/friends who you think may have changed now that they grew up - really haven't grown up or changed???

Me spunky????:rolleyes1Never!:rotfl:
Because sadly some never grow up or become a nicer or better person:confused3.

Yeah sometimes you do find someone you consider your enemy can become you friend. I think that happens in cases when there is a 3rd party involved. That said, sometimes what starts as one thing then changes comes back to haunt you in the end and you wish you would have stayed with you initial opinion. Trusting the gut, sometimes you just have to. Have a story to tell you guys later but I have to finish this up b/c we have a council meeting tonight.

I read about the CM who died. What is going on right now? First, the monorail accident in July. Then the pirate CM, and now the CM from Indiana Jones. I just feel bad for all their families.

From what I know of you doesn't seem there is any reason for you to change you are a wonderful caring person:goodvibes.

I'm going to try this...I have 2 windows open...one to type the reply and one to see what to reply to...so if I mess up, I think it's Marie's fault. I think she's the one who said she does this.

It's getting dark...need to turn on light.

Gotta watch Hells Kitchen and Big Brother tonight.

Okay, remember your dealing with the computer inept here:confused3Two screens??????????
Oh I know you don't like Kyle, don't know who he is and I know racer loved him and you didn't. I also know that she was no friend of Jr. so don't try corrupting me to worship him:lmao:. Oh and by the way POOR JIMMIE!!!!!!:rotfl2:

Gotta go later
