TKers Take the Fifth!

D&D: Sounds like you all had a great time (well, except for DS11;)). I see that you've been posting over at the December code thread. I was so jealous when I read that you got a pin. Now, not so much since I got the FD through my Disney Visa. Then, it didn't really matter since the code went public. .

Actually, DS11 did have fun. But the majority of his fun was had riding rollercoasters w/ Racetrack's son. I think DS11 really enjoyed having an "older brother" for a day that would go on crazy rides w/ him.

Is your FD the regular FD or just the counter service? That was the first PIN code ever for us so I was way excited.:banana: However, if I don't get a job here soon, not sure if we'll be able to do the 3 day trip. :sad1: Now that would be a shame.

Dear God,
Please give D&D a good job so she can spend the money at Disney!
Love, Tkers

Thanks M&N!:lmao::lmao:
I bet I must sound like some of those people who say...." I have no money but would like to stay at the GF, could you please help?" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hmm... :scratchinMaybe Kitty will be able to help when she wins those millions today.

No---I understand where you are coming from...I have a list of how to spend my money when I win the lottery! ;)

I was thinking Kitty would sponsor a TK cruise or something!

Just the other day DS7 asked why he can't buy a lottery ticket. Says.."Mom I know how to gamble and I have $1 to buy a ticket and I'd win." He said he might even give me SOME of his winnings.

Afternoon!

D&D, you don't sound like one of those people on the budget board. If you were one of them, you would have already booked a 10 night stay at the GF with deluxe dining using your credit card. You would also buy about a $1000 in Disney dollars with your credit card. Take out a second mortgage to buy a whole new vacation wardrobe for everyone. And once you are up to your eyeballs in debt, file for bankruptcy and tell everyone that it's really a gift trip and you DESERVE it gosh darn it since you are so stressed about not being able to find a job. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Anyways, my kids had a blast with your kids. I think DD6 really like being around your younger DS because it was someone close to her age and it wasn't a girl. Most of her cousins are girls and she liked the idea of having a brother close to her age for the weekend.

Did you all see that Dewalt isn't going to sponsor Kenseth next year? It's going to look strange to see him drive a different car.

Hi Lighttech!!!! Isn't BL birthday coming up?

M&N, what are your plans for the weekend?

I hope DD8 didn't feel left out. She's such a sweetie too. :cutie:

It will be strange to see Kenseth w/ another sponsor. Kinda like when Kulwicki (another local boy DH was a fan of) switched over to Hooters back in the 90s.

Greetings from Culcreuch Castle!
Yes, I am spending the night in a real live honest to goodness castle! A 13th century castle at that! Very very cool.

had a great day of sightseeing and driving through the wilds of Scotland. I will post the updated TR later.

FYI, sorry, but my sister (who really IS the best sister in the world) is NOT available. She's ALL mine!!!:lmao:

I am just DYING to know how Kitty did yesterday!

EV: Can you send the cleaning lady here? No--too messy to clean right now!

Sorry I needed her too bad...it was the one thing I wouldn't give up when I became a SAHM. Nothing I hate more than housework!!

I hope DD8 didn't feel left out. She's such a sweetie too. :cutie:

I have a DD8 that I can send down anytime...I think she'd do well with Marie's daughter too.

Wendy - Have fun in that Castle...we stayed in one during our honeymoon that was supposedly haunted.

Keeping my fingers crossed that MK's studying and manicure paid off.

Hey D&D, DL55 & Lighttech...hope you're having a good day.

Thursday July 30 Dumfries to Fintry

I woke up early for some odd reason, so I got loaded up, had breakfast, and headed out. My first stop was Culzean Castle, which was out on the coast. It was just lovely! Great views of the water, very large and opulent. Hard to imagine living that way! The weirdest thing was that in the gardens, there were tons of palm trees! It looked like I was in Florida! I had lunch at the Coffee House there, just soup and bread, but then got some ice cream on the way out.

I then began the long drive up to Fintry, which is north of Glasgow. My gas gauge was getting low, so I had to stop for petrol. OMG is it expensive! 1 pound per liter, 4 liters to a gallon, so that is over $7 per gallon! :scared1:It cost over $70 to fill the little tank! OUCH!!

I was truly driving through the wilds of Scotland. Beautiful country, but desolate. Few cars, no people, just lots and lots of cows and sheep. At one point the sheep were all in the road ahead of me! The shepherd and his dog were trying to clear them off the road. Naturally, I stopped and took a picture. I thought it was a riot!:lmao:

I continued on my way, going over one lane roads again, through the hills. No cell signal there--”emergency calls only”. Nice to know I could get through if I really needed to!

My destination was the Culcreuch Castle Hotel, just outside of the tiny town of Fintry. It was not very well marked, and I drove past the entrance twice! Finally I found it though. It is a tower style castle, built in 1296. The oldest continually occupied castle in Central Scotland. The views are beautiful. I can’t imagine living here!

I checked in and was delighted to find that my room is the closest to the ground floor. Just one flight up. The negative to that turns out to be noise, as everyone has to pass my room to get up to theirs, and I also get some noise from the bar (which closes at 11pm thank heavens!) My room is lovely and quite comfortable, and WiFi is available for a small fee.

I wandered around the castle, looking at the Drawing Room, the Dining Room, and the Laird’s Hall (WOW!!), as well as the grounds. Took a bunch of pictures. Then I sat in the Drawing Room and read for awhile. I went down and had dinner in the Dungeon Bar. Really! It used to be the dungeon! Very cool. Fish and chips, which were quite yummy.

I headed back up to my room to go online and watch some TV. It was a bit chilly in the room, so I turned on the heat. Yes, heat! In July!

M&N, I don't think I would ever make a Maytag repairman/woman. The time before this when I made an attempt to "fix" the washer I ended up having to buy a new one.
Still trying to decide on whether to stay the extra day while we are in Corpus. The kids and I would love to but DH wouldn't get much rest from the long drive before he had to go back to work.
OOOh! I like you TK cruise idea when Kitty wins!

D&DDisney, I am sorry you are having such a time with your sister. I guess some people like Whgrn get lucky and have a great sister and then there are some like us with sisters that we cannot understand.
I do know I have read quite a few reviews that are not positive about San Angel Inn but I want to go mostly for the atmosphere. At DL Blue Bayou is my familie's favorite but they don't have one in WDW. SAI appears to be the closest thing they have. Do you suppose they would kick us out if DS smuggled in a turkey leg while the rest of us ordered from the menu? As for the bad reviews, we usually tend to agree with the minority in most things so we would probably like it.

mariezp No one just drives through Alamogordo, you have to be lost.
There are a lot of places like that in New Mexico, aren't there? I remember going to the Dorsey Mansion in Springer and the Chaco Canyon Indian Ruins... both of which were amazing but in the middle of no where.

racetrack18kb, bankruptcy, huh? Dang, why didn't I think of that!? I will probably end up with some debt on my credit card from our trip but being the responsible minded person I am, unfortunately, I will end up feeling the need to pay for it. I am actually going to have my plane tickets paid for ahead of time and a good start on our tickets. I should have a pretty good fund for souvineers from my Disney Visa rewards so my debt will mainly consist of lodging and food. But you are right, I wonder how many Disney trips end up getting written off?

Hi whgrn! I am so jealous! You are staying in a castle? I always wanted to see a castle but it would be even cooler to stay in one.

BKMETV, I am so with you on not giving up the cleaning lady. The girl that cleans mine is one of my best friends so not only does she keep the house looking good she also provides me with therapy! She is so worth it and I would be (and my house too) in sad shape if I ever had to let her go.
Little girls everywhere! My DD would be in jabberbox heaven!

Hi lighttech. I hope all is well in your world today.

Why doesn't the stupid laundry ever go away? I started out and got 3 loads done early this morning but as the day has gone on my progress has really tapered off. I did manage to balance my checkbook and pay bills so I guess I have made some progress today. Guess I better get finished helping DD get her schoolwork done now.

Good evening TKers!

M&N: Sukie is getting there with her shopping. She has been changing her mind about some of the outfits I helped pick out and she's been trying to simplify her wardrobe so there is less to pack.

racetrack: It's going. Kids start school on August 27th. Not sure when I'll do any school shopping. In the past DS11 has gotten a letter from his teacher with items to be purchased but we haven't received anything yet. DS8 won't need anything as the school provides everything. Now school clothes shopping is another story. Usually I go all out and they don't even really need it. I think we'll just do a few new pairs of jeans and wait until the cooler weather clothes come out. ---Musikfest sounds !

whgrn: Trip sounds great so far! So glad the leg cramps are leaving you alone.

disney54: Glad you stopped by. Keep checking in!

marie: I hope you have a good time on your trip. I say stay for two nights and enjoy yourself. Then again, I'm not paying for it!

D&D: Sisters can be a pain sometimes!--Well I guess DS11 did have a good time after all. I'm glad he enjoyed himself on those scary looking rollercoasters!:scared1:---Since we are staying at POP we got the QSDP. We were given the option to upgrade to the BDP but since we had planned on getting the QSDP and trying it out we decided to stick with it.---And no, you do not sound like one of those people.

lighttech, DL55 and BKMETV!!!

On a sad note, DH's grandmother (Grammy C) passed away Tuesday afternoon. DH and DS11 were at a concert so I wasn't able to tell DH until very early Wednesday morning. We went to the funeral today at noon and then the whole family met at a local bar for a "Celebration of Life". Everything was done the way that Grammy C wanted it. Short service, only close family members and a couple of friends, no muss, no fuss.

I hope everyone has a great evening!

I'm going to Florida!!!!! In December!!!! Getting plane tickets!!!! Mom said she would go so I have to get on AirTran for tickets. I can go nonstop from Harrisburg with them...and they are cheaper than USAir right now.

Marie: I have no sisters to complain about or brag about. I'm an only child---which has it's good and bad moments! Try San Angel and form own opinion. If you don't like it---what's the big deal? You at least can say you agree---it's bad! :rotfl:

Pikester: I think getting 1 new outfit for school now is good enough. Here it's still hot and summer clothes are necessary. If you get too much now, they may grow an inch before they can wear them. My mom always got me a new outfit for my August bday for back to school...even when I taught. I know it's hard to decide what to pack...especially the shoes. I like to change off too much.

DH is HOME!!! :cool1::woohoo:

Pikester, I'm sorry about DH's gram. We do the "celebration of life" dinners afterwards too. I've learned so many wonderful stories at those dinners that help keep the loved one alive in my memory.

We are starting school shopping this weekend. I know DD13 will need plenty of new jeans. She took all her old jeans from last year and cut them off into capris. I'll most likely end up being each one of them a new outfit each week until school starts. They never send out school supply lists here before school starts. Total pain in the you know where.

DL55, I drove through NM once. Texas too. We were going to visit my Aunt who lives in Arizona. I was 10 and it was a trip from hell. I went with my grandparents and 2 of my aunts and an uncle in one of those old station wagons with the wood sides. Total trip took 3 weeks. Amazingly, I still like road trips. Just not with those members of my family. :rotfl2:

D&D, DD8 did not have any hurt feelings at all. She is a way more quiet and reserved kid. A lot of times she likes to hang in the background and just observe.

marie, lots of people rack up some debt from a vacation. But you will pay it off not like some of the crazies I see on here. I've seen some doozy stories on here. I just shake my head and sit on my hands to keep from posting. :rotfl2:

I don't have sisters that I can't understand but I do have a brother and his wife. SIL is pretty famous around this thread. I'm sure in time, you'll be enlightened with one of my insane stories about her. :rolleyes1

Help! I'm in shock!

Racer didn't pick #18 this week!
1.gif
She must have heard his interview where he said he was a looser if he didn't win!

I'm using reverse psychology in picking Kyle. It seems everytime I pick him he does terrible. So maybe if I don't pick, he'll win the race. I might be messing up my own picks but I'm looking at the big picture. Kyle wins the championship or I win the disboards championship. Hard choice but I'll take Kyle winning the championship. :rotfl2:

Did you see what I put after Jr's name? I decided that I could not hurt my poor standing picking him so I did! Heard someone on tv say he could win Phoenix!

I think he always was good at Phoenix. I just think he hasn't found his groove with the new crew chief yet.

And between Stewart and Martin, I wonder how much competition the Chase will be?

Do you really think reverse psychology will even register with him? You do have to admit that he is focused!
My friends called me from NC yesterday...they had visited a lot of race shops and toured Lowes. I forget who they saw at the track. They are Jimmie and Jeffie fans.
I do not want Martin to win.

Jimmie and Jeffie fans?! Boo, hiss!!! :rotfl2:

I do not want Mark Martin to win. I just do not like him at all. It all goes back to when Rusty decided to retire and Mark jumped on his bandwagon to steal his thunder and didn't retire anyway. Now all of NASCAR seems to revolved about whether he will win the championship or not. He should have just retired when he said he would.
