Night all! Gotta go make my picks for fantasy then off to bed.

Night D&D!

I need to go and post M&N's picks for her here. She's having computer trouble and hasn't been able to get on too often.

Morning ladies! At least at night, I can't be depressed on how much snow is out there. The snowbanks are about as tall as I am! And we're expecting another foot today!

Dl55! Make sure to play a quarter for me. and have a great time in Vegas...and the wedding.

I can't beleive the postman came yesterday. I didn't even bother to look, I thought he wouldn't have tried. But he did...blessings upon him.

Its on days like this that I wish I had a dishwasher!

Most of the roads are closed in the towns around here. Emergency vehicles only. Its so scary. Its snowing so hard it looks more like fog is blanketing the street...but its just snowing too much. I have to figure out how to get snow off the roof tomorrow.

You don't have a dishwasher??:scared1:

Wow, it's pretty bad if you have to get snow off the roof. Be careful!

Wendy, no french toast. We had omelets. I never have the energy to cook early in the morning so we only have breakfast food at dinner time.

Hey, you just gave me a great idea! French toast for DINNER! My kids love it, I don't have time in the AM to make it, and it would give me a new twist in the menu!

Maybe we should arrange for a TKer Pets Meet???:rotfl2:

OMG Duke would LOVE it! He loves everyone, and having all those people to love on him would be sheer bliss!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: OMG you'll be looking at snow piles in August!

Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor gloom of night...:rotfl2:

I'm here at Mom & Dad's wondering when/if I'll get out of here. We have about 6 or 7 inches, and the driveway hasn't been plowed yet. The street was done overnight, but it's snow covered again. Likely passable though. But the delivery company called and my elliptical is now arriving on Wednesday, so if I can't get home today, the world won't end. And since I have my laptop, my Kindle, and my homework, I won't die of boredom!

Dad's first home dialysis was a rousing success! It went off without a hitch, and he even slept well. I'm so glad I was here--that extra peace of mind was helpful, and we did find a couple of logistical changes we need to make. I pray it continues to go this well. Dad's in good spirits, and Mom seems to be dealing with it fairly well. Thanks for all your prayers!

Oh Wendy, I'm so happy for you and your Dad's dialysis success!

Really, at this point, I'm just amused at the snow. I managed to get snow off the lower roofs, but the roof above the attic is just impossible. Which is upsetting coz the satellite dishes are up there. So highly unlikely I'll be able to watch any regular tv. Been keeping up on the Olympics and local news from the net. Thank goodness I still have that!

I forgot I was Catholic and am fasting until this evening...I had some toast before the bacon hit my mouth. I think God will forgive my indiscretion....

Afternoon! We've made it through the worst of the storm. Winds finally kicked up late last night. I kept expecting our power to go out but luckily it never did. Kids have off today again but they really didn't have a choice but to cancel. They couldn't do a delay because today was also an early dismissal day.

MK, please be very careful if you are going to try to get anymore snow off the roof. DH says if you get concerned about the attic roof, to please call a roofing company to take care of it. During weather like this, this is exactly the type of work they do.

Wendy, Yay for everything going well with your dad. :woohoo: And you've never done breakfast for dinner? We do it every couple of weeks here. Everyone gets a job to do and the kids love it.

DL55, good luck in Vegas!! Hope you win big!!!

Thanks JOCA and DH for the roof advice...unfortunately, its still a state of emergency, and its emergency vehicles only out on the road for now. But I'll make some calls and see what I can do for an appointment.

Its gotten freakily bright outside, which for us is never a good thing. Its the kind of bright that comes before a thunder storm...and with all the snow, its reflecting all over the place.

I wish I had remembered that it was Thursday last night, I would have loaded up on carbs. I'm really hungry at the moment, but I will not focus on that...

I'm watching the first season of Jericho, and its pretty good so far. I don't remember it being on tv, but I Wikipedia'd it and apparently is had a pretty devoted fan base. And mr.postman brought my netflix yesterday too...

I am so lucky that although the roads were terrible on Monday, we weren't stuck on the highway. Interstate 84 south of me has been closed since last night, and people are reporting that they've been stranded there for 15 hours!

DH is home again today so all we are watching are car shows. He'll even watch the ones he doesn't like just so he can complain about them. :rotfl2:

None of the roads have been shut down here but they were in the last storm. A couple of years ago, people got stranded on one of the local highways and since then, if the highways start getting bad, the governor will shut them down.

ooh, I'm happy that Dh is home with your family today.

Goodness, Walker shortbread is having a sale online. I always buy those little snack packs from England in EPCOT. They just melt in the mouth. How do people do Ramadan? An entire month of fasting?

The town is doing a really great job on the roads. I can actually see pavement at the moment. But the sidewalks are insane. Usually if the snow is heavy, the town comes through and clears out the sidewalks, but they haven't been able to get to it yet. I made a little path for the mailman should he make it to my front lawn.

The local AMC theater is having a marathon of the ten best picture nominees both tomorrow and next Saturday. I was planning on going, but tomorrow is definitely not going to happen. Maybe the following Saturday, though...

Just a quickie while I can be on. I've been on 5 min without getting cut off. Called the phone co and they want me to check the plugs in the house. I have a lot of static on the phone. I have to get under the desk--on the floor---and that's not easy for me but at least it's not high on the wall like the outlets. I think I can reach this one. I really think it's the outside line with the wind. My driveway had a 12 in drift in the middle. Some of my walk had none! That wind is wild. Don't know how much we got...looks around 3 in a lot of places but how can they tell. Saw JO had 13.5!!! Try and get back later...Keep off that roof Kitty!

In an act of desperation, Kitty prays to the tennis gods and heads outside to do battle with her satellite dish. This is in the name of Team USA hockey! She shoots, she scores! She bounces several tennis balls off the dish, knocks the snow off and promptly has snow dumped on her head. But victorious nonetheless!

(maybe all that snow had caused a minor concussion and has resulted in her referring to herself in the third person...)

Hello my friends!

Just making a quick stop to say Hello. How are ya?

We've been without power since 12:00AM! DH hooked up our generator once he got home from work (came home around noon) for a brief period to run the furnace, fridge and TV but we'll be going dark at 4PM and won't be back "on" till later this evening.

Still had school so we were able to be warm all day but it sucked having to go to work without a shower. Had to do a PTA (Pitts, Ts, and A).;) We did have hot water but there was no way to dry my hair. I'm hoping to get a shower tonight.

That's it for now. Not sure when I'll be able to get back on.

Have a good evening!

Glad every one is hanging in there and managing through the wintry weather even with some inconveniences.

Wendy, so glad the home dialysis went well. There is a dialysis clinic next door to DS's Jiu-Jitsu class. They are always so crowded. I never realized how many people have to go through that. Glad your dad will be able to do it in the comfort of his own home.

Evening!

MK, you are crazy! :rotfl2: The next time our direct tv goes out, gonna take your advice and send DH out with some tennis balls. :rotfl:

M&N, glad you were able to check in even if only for a few minutes. Missing you around here.

Pikester, you stay safe and warm up there. Sounds like the winds were much worse for you than they were for us.

JOCA...its the last few days of Olympics...I was a desperate woman. And I'm so glad! Team USA rocked Finland 6-1. We're on the way to the gold medal game! Woo-hoo!

I got Conde Nast Traveler magazine today (more blessing for mr postman). I swear, the entire issue was about cruising! There's a new ship coming out thats 4 football fields long...I can't even imagine it. If I can't get to Disney/US this year, maybe all that vacation fund can go to cruisin' it...

(but I haven't give up on getting to Orlando later this year)

Pikester...doesn't sound like you'll see this, but hang in there and hope the power comes back on soon!

Sounds like the cruise-gods are talking to you. Maybe you should listen.

Last night, DH brought up taking a cruise. Out of the blue. This may very well work in my favor for convincing him to go in 2012.

I'm not really one of those whack-job New Age fanatics, but I totally believe in speaking out loud and making things happen and seeing signs everywhere. I think this is a really good sign for both of us...Its far enough away to kinda think about it yet not have too much pressure.

I also use the "signs fate is showing me" theory to choose my winning slot machines...I walk around until I find a machine that is calling to me. Its not fool-proof, but I do have a decent winnings record.

Did you see Apolo make that jump? Awesome!

Now that he's mentioned it, I'm never going to let him forget it.

I haven't been to a casino in years even though they opened a Sands right here.

My mom is very lucky when it comes to gambling. She went the other night just to do her free play money and hit $400.

I love Apolo. I'm going to miss him.

I scared the pants off of BF earlier. He was trying to tell me about his doctor's appointment when I started screaming. He was like "what happened?!". The US hockey team scored two goals in succession and I was excited.

BF is really glald the Olympics are over this weekend.

Wow, congrats to your mom on her win! That's aswesome.

I just wish some of my mom's gambling luck would rub off on me.

DH is into the Olympics but won't admit it. He does love to watch Apolo skate. Me, I spend half the night yelling at the tv. I've gotten into it so much, I forgot to watch Survivor last night. :lmao:
