Ok. I have a dumb question...if I book the Mainstay today, I won't get charged until check in, right?

Ok, I'm thinking of Wed-Saturday for me.

If you're a member of Ebates, you get 3% back! For me, that about $10! That's good enough for a funnel cake!

Not a dumb question. According to my reciept if I don't cancel my ressie by 7AM the day after my scheduled arrival day I will be charged one night's stay plus tax. So reading that I assume that they will not charge my credit card until I get there. I do remember reading something about a $1 being charged to my card while they verified that my CC was valid and then it would be taken off.

YEAH KITTY!!! :dance3:
OK...I'm sure there are a few more rooms available...

There are golf courses in Hershey!!! :woohoo:

Oh my heart is so full! I just spent some time with my nephew. I had been missing him but being the teen that he is, I thought he was just too busy for his aunt. But he called and we got together, and he's doing really well. He's transferring to the nursing school and has really got some plans for his future. I'm so proud of him!

Looking back, I'm just so so thankful that he's fully recovered and that he is such an amazing young man. Happiness.

Let me try to see if I can get my LOL kitty to show up again.... it shows up in the preview.

Maybe it is one of the words so... If that doesn't work... how about a link....

Poor DL55! I hope your bite does not get infected either. Wow! What a kitty!:scared1: She really does have vet issues. There is no easy way to give a cat a pill. I hope you don't end up bit again.

Kitty, I am so glad you got to spend some time with your nephew. It does sound like he is doing really well.

Glad things are going good for him Kitty. Aunties are still needed---I think it's just the time thing...so many things to cram into out busy lives.

Marie--I can see the pic but it's blurry...I don't know why. The other pic was fine. :confused3

I've been watching the PA State Farm show on tv. They showed the steers today. They showed some washing and cutting their hair. They work hard to keep them in shape. They also had bunny judging on. It's just amazing how many kinds there are and how they determine which is better than others in the same breed. They look alike to me.

Hey Marie, the picture shows up for me just fine. My DS12 thought it was funny but I really loved the other one. Cracked me up!

Hey there M&N! How'd the closet battle go?

I have a friend who was heavily involved in 4-H and always seemed to rope me into her activities (hee hee). I did love going to the state fair and shows. It really is amazing how talented some kids are in taking care of their animals. I did not know there were many kinds of rabbits except for the dwarf, regular size, and giants.

Marie, I can see the pics just fine. And I giggle every time I see it.

Lots of Fairs here in NH where you can see animals, look at tractors and ride amusement rides. We use to go to the Hopkinton Fair every year. DH and I have been to the Big E Fair in Mass.

A few years ago I was in Oregon visiting friends (the 4-H one). We went to the state fair. I loved all the incarnations of the fried food! But one thing that had me in fits of giggles was this one attraction with the sign "See Giant Pig--live!". As if they usually show the giant pig frozen. But then I guess they would have fried that piggy up!

Do other fairs do the butter sculpture? Or is that just the NY state fair? Its always amazing! And kinda creepy at the same time.

There are caverns? DH loves caves! I think I just have to find pretty places to camp and hike. If I let him bring his clubs he can try out new golf courses. That makes the trip longer though as that takes up half the day.

The trip to the vet went as expected. I hope my cat bite doesn't get infected. :sad2: Kitty got to go for a ride in a plexiglass cage. They sedated her for her check up. They think she has a hyperthyroid. Means more pills. :scared1: Waiting for the test results.

DL55, it sounds like you've got some good ammunition to get DH out here!

Sorry your kitty had a hard time at the vet. I take Duke tomorrow for his testing, and they will sedate him for that.

Oh my heart is so full! I just spent some time with my nephew. I had been missing him but being the teen that he is, I thought he was just too busy for his aunt. But he called and we got together, and he's doing really well. He's transferring to the nursing school and has really got some plans for his future. I'm so proud of him!

What a blessing! So glad he is doing better.

I worked at the kids' school this afternoon. It was so funny--DD came in for a "hi Mommy" visit and gave me a big hug. DS waved as he passed in the hall, but when he came in for his meds, he told me he wished I would work at some other school! He seems to have changed his opinion though, when he came in at the end of the day and asked if he could go home with me instead of on the bus. Maybe having Mom work in your school isn't such a bad deal after all!!:lmao:

Yesterday I took DD for HS orientation.:scared1: Got her class list for next year--Intro to Algebra :scared1::scared1::scared1:, Principles of Chemistry :scared1::scared1:, English 1, US History 1, and PE/Health. If for some reason she doesn't go to the Vocational School, she will also have 2 electives, which would be cooking (of course!) and drama. Now, by my count, with lunch, that's 8 periods. But they have 11 periods in a day. What on earth will she be doing the other 3 periods?

Anyway, tonite we went for the parent orientation meeting, and learned a bit more. We signed her up for swim team (just means they'll send her info--she has to cut 6 seconds off her time for the 50 meter freestyle in order to make the team) I still cannot believe my little girl will start HS in the fall!

Well, I'm gonna check FB once more and then I'm off to bed--I'm tired!

I don't think our local fair has a butter sculpture but we always get the weird animal displays. World's smallest horse is there every year. The past 2 years, they've had the world's smallest woman. And they always have a "sideshow" tent with oddities. Our fair is interesting to say the least. Up until a few years ago, they still had mud wrestling.

Oh, and besides the farm animals, they have now added elephants that people can ride. They will also display and have contest for the strangest or largest vegetable. This year was a 1000+ pound pumpkin.

JOCA...your fair sounds awesome! I wanna go there!

Wendy, how do they have 11 periods in one day? How long are they at school? We had eight periods in my day and that was way tiring...an additional three more?! Holy smokes!

High School......

Back in the olden days when I went to HS we had 8 periods. One year the periods rotated as in

Monday 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Tuesday 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1
Wednesday 3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2, etc through the week.

My senior year we had split rotating

Monday 1,2,3,4 5,6,7,8
Tuesday 2,3,4,1 6,7,8,5
Wednesday 3,4,1,2 7,8,5,6 etc through the week

DAMN! I still have nightmares about missing a class or not knowing what class I'm suppose to be in! I even have nightmares about not knowing where my locker is.

Pikester, that's an insane system. I would have totally gotten lost.

We had the A-D system. Each day was a certain letter and you followed that day's schedule. My schedule only really changed when it was a lab or a study hall. And we had gym every other day.

I think it was my Freshman year but there were a few of us who took PE everyday for the whole year and that counted towards the next 3 years so that I did not have to take PE anymore.

Pikester, I didn't even have that schedule and I'm having nightmares about it. That is just insane. We had 8 periods and just used Monday through Friday. Last year, DS has block scheduling. 4 periods per day and each class was only a semester long. I didn't like it because he had 2x as long to forget everything.

MK, our fair always runs from the Tuesday before Labor Day until Labor Day. It really is an interesting place.

DL55, there should be plenty of places to try hiking around here. The Pocono Mountains are not too far. Sorry your kitty has such an aversion to vets. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that your bite doesn't get infected.

whgrn, your going to have to fill us in on how she has 11 periods in one day.

When I first read that I thought it said Vests not Vets. I couldn't figure out why DL55 was putting vests on her cat.

Pikester, I'm actually surprised that I didn't type that. My fingers work much faster than my mind. :rotfl:

There's a big butter sculpture at the Farm Show. It's the biggest farm show under 1 roof. http://www.farmshow.state.pa.us/EventPhotos2010.aspx?AID=364 for pic of it...carved from 1,000 lbs of butter!

I am not a fan of block scheduling either but it seems that more schools are doing it. I do think it gives too much time to forget things...especially since the make those stupid tests so important.
