Ryan is pretty short.

I was just reading an article in our local paper and our old school district is cutting more teaching jobs to try and balance the budget. Last year, they cut about 40 or so teaching jobs and this year, it's a little over 30. I am so glad we got out of there when we did.

How can they cut teachers...won't there be a required amount for each school or is the enrollment going down.

No, they will just make the class sizes even bigger. When we left, DD6 had 26 kids in her Kinder class. DD8 had 27 or 28. All the middle schools will be losing their reading assistance teachers for the 6th grade.

Hey everyone. I was trying to upload pics on FB but could not do it. Screen got stuck and things are so slow tonight so I guess I'll wait.

Wow Holly---I heard that shingles is painful...you take care. No hug---just pixie dust! pixiedust: Not as hurtful!

I agree with that philosophy about life. It is short...we do not have control over that...enjoy every day. My father died 20 years ago at the age of 60. I often think of how hard he worked his entire life...until he could not walk anymore and he could not enjoy his retirement. That's one reason I retired as soon as I was able. I may get poorer but I am not dedicating my life to a job. I am able to help friends out and mmore importantly be there for my mom.

He worked for Penneys. He started part time in hs. It was about 42 years.

I gave up trying to upload pics tonight. I need to do it when I don't want to use the computer and just let it on.

Did you do your NASCAR picks yet? I did them both. Have you heard anything about the Jeffie/Jimmie fight? I did not check any sites out this week.

Evening ladies. Brutally windy out there tonight and the temps are just ridiculous for late April! Really cold, but what can I do?

M&N...so sad to hear about your friend, but glad that the stroke wasn't devastating. Prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery.

When my father was really sick, it really affected my outlook on life. I completely live life to the fullest (and often silliest) I can. I want to enjoy everything!

Oh geez, Hol, sorry about the stones and the shingles! Sounds like you're doing landscaping! But you have a diagnosis and I hope you're not nearly as painful as I've heard it is...

Still no Chi-Chi. Saw my neighbour today and he hasn't seen her either. He didn't question my insane calling for her at all hours...

Bought some sangria tonight. Plan to cut up the fruit tomorrow and let is seep. I'm not responsible for whatever ensues.

oh, and I came home to a very quiet dog. Seems he ate 10 human biscuits that I had made this morning. I hope he enjoyed them at least.

How long does it seep Kitty? What fruit do you use? I had my orange straight out of the rind tonight...sounds boring compared to your fruit!

MK, you're here late!

M&N, I worry about how much DH works. Last Friday, he was gone from 4:30 am until almost 9pm. I know one day, all the kids will be out on their own and I want to enjoy that time with him. But there are days that I wonder if we will be able to.

How did the dog get them down? You should know better! Hope he didn't get sick...

M&N...I use apples and orange slices. I like to steep them at least 24 hours. Its the fruit that gets me tipsy fastest!

JO...I'm sorry that DH works such crazy hours. I know he has a mean boss. But really, you need to enjoy the NOW. And not in a doom-and-gloom kind of way. Life and each day truly is a gift. Every smile, every giggle, every look that you share with your kids is priceless. That being said, you give that DH of yours a big hug for being so wonderful and working so hard for your family.

Well JO---he is certainly not going to be able to keep up that schedule all his life with the kind of work he does. He needs to be working toward more of a supervisor type of a job...just bossing the others and correcting their mistakes. A friend in construction was laid off but knew he would not be able to keep it up much longer and he didn't do the hard parts.

ah, no, its the guilt. I bet he enjoyed my cooking! He has a weakness for butter. We used to use a butter dish, but he kept eating the sticks of butter! He's a Rottie/Great Dane mix and he can just see what's on the table to snack on. It was my fault. I should have put the biscuits away. But still, stealing is bad!

My dog is also a rescue. He was on the street for a few months so he knows how to sneak food. I can't really blame him.

We know he can't do this forever. Every now and then, we talk about him going to trade school for his first love....auto body repair. Not glamorous but he loves doing it.

We try to enjoy all that we can. Even if it's just packing some sandwiches and taking the kids to the playground for a couple of hours. Life isn't about the breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away. I've tried to live by that.

Thanks MK. I'll do when he wakes me up in the morning.

MK, you got a picture of your doggie? DH loves rotties and DD14's favorite dogs, for the moment, are great danes.

I don't usually like big dogs but I love rotties. Years ago, a friend of mine had this most awesome rottie. Absolute sweetheart. They had him trained to understand German commands. It was so strange but so cool.

Hey a dog's gotta eat! My mom complains about the squirrels eating the bird seeds. She puts nuts out for the squirrels. I tried to tell her it's just the squirrel's nature to eat it...he doesn't realize she'll put out enough for all of them! Is sangria sweet?

We used to do picnics all the time JO. We would walk to the park. I'm sure it was at least a mile away. I would never walk along that road now. Kids do need to appreciate that time spent as a family is precious no matter what you do. It does not need to be a DW trip. (glad I said that here...I won't get flamed!)

I hate my squirrels too! I swear, they're plotting to drive me nuts. I once caught them in the bird seed and he was scooping it up in his nasty little paws and rubbing it all over his little body! He was doing it on purpose too!

Here's my puppy. I'll take a better one tomorrow....he is a big sweetie.
